Mall Code of Conduct?
 

Let me find out the mall is carding like the club. Next thing you know there will be a dresscode.

We have Simon Mall properties in my area and although its only enforced when they want to, there is a sign that says teens are not allowed in the mall in groups larger than 3 people, and some other hot mess of rules.

They "claim" that its to curb shoplifting, and to keep kids from getting in trouble, but I don't believe it for a minute.

Its all interesting. When I was younger, my parents didn't allow me to go walking around the mall either. They knew I didn't have any money. I couldn't understand it then, but why put yourself in a situation that could end up negative. If you know your ass ain't shopping, stay away from the mall.

In my day, the mall had the movie theater in the same building. We would go to the movie then hang out after. It was "safer" then. I don't think I would allow my child to "hang out" at the mall today.

I feel ya. Our mall has movie theater as well as a game room. Plus the food court was the place to be. :)

I wonder if Pheasant Lane Mall is a Simon property because many of the rules listed in the article (dress commonly know as gang related are prohibited) are the same ones that our has.

They are taking the same action in MD. A new strip mall opened in Largo, MD and they have posted all over the place Code of Conducts. I haven't taken the time to read it, however, it seems to be working, because there are tons of young people there every day that have the potential to get into trouble.

I don't think this is a bad idea.

Anymore, malls are just overrun with kids just hanging out, roaming, clogging up concourses -- and in this day/age that's often just a confrontation waiting to happen.

I dunno, I've gotten racially profiled at malls before when I was a kid and even as an adult--mainly because I still look younger than I actually am...

However going to the mall is different from back in the day when folks just hung out at the movies, played video games, go to the food court, etc. You have all these "falluntin" things to entice folks to purchase with stars and bars and shiny objects... Nunna which I would want nor could I afford in reality and why? It is just rampant consumerism at its capitalistic peak...

I went to the outlet mall in Vega$ and all I bought besides "foundations" was a bootleg copy of a movie... Mall security was said to be on the payroll... Go figure...

I would definitely HATE having to be carded to just get into a bullisht assed mall charging way too much for crap I'd rather purchase at Target, Costco or Walmart...

The local malls where I grew up have had codes of conduct since I was in middle school (early -mid 90s). You didn't have to show ID unless you were unruly and then you could be escorted home if you were underage.

I think it's a great idea. I didn't realize so many other cities didn't have it.

I thought the comment about the attire that is prohibited being sold in the mall was on pint. How hypocritical. "Come by this stuff from us but don't wear it here."

Aw come on frat! Now you know that many a young man is in the mall w/out a dollar scoping out girls. You didn't do that?

I remember years ago when they were kicking people out of Eastland Mall for "loitering". :rolleyes: How do you know someone is loitering at a mall?:confused:

Then, a few weeks ago, we were in Concord Mills (one of the larger, newer malls in Concord, NC) and one of the security guards (a brotha) told a group of rowdy teenagers "Look, you have to take that someplace else; this ain't Eastland". Ignorance is bliss.:rolleyes:

hmmm I have been escorted out of the mall once but the mall was in a rual part of Ga where some people get tickets just for having a car and being smart enough to know how to drive. In the city of Atlanta we dont have any real restrictions you can wear what you want to the mall as long as its semi decent and you can hang there all day if you want just to pick up #'s. lol

I hate when Kids are all in my way in groups at the mall....
 

Well I personally did'nt hang out in the mall. And I won't let my son do it when gets older. People are carzy for one and secondly, if one of his friends gets an itch...he need not be in the midst of bs. Although I know all teens that go to the mall are not stealing, they just seem to be rude and act like " I dare you to bump into me", I'm like "move S%$t, Im trying to shop and you sagging in the A@@ , looking a hot mess". Okay I got carried away :p But hey, they need to do that crap in their teen atmosphere not at the mall. No wonder the malls are acting whack. In a way it is WRONG!
