Great news...though not AOII related.

Just wanted to share with you all that I got engaged last night (Saturday)! I'm so excited.

AOII_LB93 04-11-2005 08:38 PM

No actually I didn't...I guess I forgot about that part.(What a nerd I am!)

He took me out to dinner(to the restaurant where we had our first date) and after dinner he took my hands in his (I thought it was coming then, and started to tear up...was trying not to, but it didn't work) and he started with "You mean a lot to me and I love you very much." I started to get all teary and he asked me to stop because it was going make him teary too. So I stopped and he continued (after a bit of mushy stuff) and asked me to be his wife, pulled out the ring and held my hands until I said yes and stopped crying (out of joy of course).

The ring is exactly what I wanted:), .70 carat round solitaire 4 prong setting. I would have been fine with white gold, but he went platinum, it's so beautiful. I will do my best to take a pic and post it.

Thanks sisters for the well wishes, and I have been thinking of how to involve AOII from the time I was initiated. :D Let me know if there are any cool ideas as we are trying for Christmastime in Ireland. (He wants to get married on New Year's Eve this year....we shall see)

(insert girly excitement here)

Yeah!!! Way to go big sis! I'm so happy for you and the soon to be Mr. AOII_LB93 :D

You can always have a red rose bouquet and modify that special thing we say in ritual ;)

I'm the adviser for meeting next Monday. Maybe we should educate the wonderful collegiates about candle passes!

SnowLady 04-12-2005 01:25 PM

Oh congratulations! Sometimes it seems like yesterday that DH proposed. And of course if you ask him he'll say we've been married 5 years but in May it's only 4. I know big deal a year.

Oooooo I LOVED planning my wedding. AOIIAlum is right - there are so many AOII related things you can do with it if you want. As you're planning - please let us know what you're up to. We LOVE the details!!!

Well ladies, I'm in my final countdown. 33 days to go, 25 before we head off to Ireland for the holidays/wedding. I've got my dress, veil, and shoes...now just to figure out what I will be wearing for the rest of the time over there. :)

Bridesmaids are both non AOIIs but are wearing deep red. I'm carrying a bouquet of red roses and I'll be wearing my badge on the inside of my dress. Beyond that, I guess there's not much more to do or think of....wow. It's been a fast 8 months.
:D

Everything sounds lovely. Where are you getting married in Ireland and how did you pick the place? Sorry if you posted this elsewhere and I missed it.

AOIIalum 11-28-2005 06:19 PM

Hurrah! Make sure to enjoy every moment, try not to stress, and have a beautiful ceremony. I know it will be fantastic!

AOII_LB93 11-28-2005 08:21 PM

It turns out my fiance's uncle has a visiting priest to his parish from Ireland, so I called there and they hooked us up. =) We're getting married in Dundalk. (here is a pic of the church http://www.armagharchdiocese.org/htm...irectory25.htm) and our reception is going to be in Castlebellingham at a castle. http://www.bellinghamcastle.com/ Sorry, but I can't post pics..photographically challenged here. :p

Congratulations! That church looks amazing. I have always been fascinated by old buildings, especially churches. Looks like it has beautiful stain glass! ;-) Have fun!

Please forgive me for crashing, but I am completely impressed!! Just imagine, every little girl wants to marry Prince Charming, but you're going to celebrate in a castle!!! Best wishes in making that glass slipper last forever!

AOII_LB93 12-08-2005 10:44 PM

Ok, so we're really in the countdown now 3 weeks to go. Is it normal to not be horribly stressed about the wedding and more about how to pack my dress as a carry-on? :p

21 days until W-day
15 days until departure
moments until insanity.

The castle is cool, wish they had chair covers, but I'll live. It was a nightmare trying to find a place after our original reception location canceled on me because they were permanently closing. Oh well.

AOIIsilver 12-08-2005 11:24 PM

Did I mentioned how amazingly cool it is to be getting married in a castle?

aopirose 12-09-2005 12:53 AM

The castle is beautiful! I wasn't nervous or stessed about my wedding until the week prior. My mother came to help.
She constantly pointed out all of the little things that I just wasn't worried about. By the time the day came, I was so tired and stressed that I passed out during the recessional. Did I mention that I stayed up til 3 am the night before trying to calm down my SIL?

You passed out? Like fainted? Out cold? Wow! My mom is really cool, she's not high stress at all...now if only my MIL would take the hint.:)

aopirose 12-09-2005 01:19 PM

Yeah, my mom was usually cool as a cucumber but it was just something about her only child getting married and the day was fast approaching.

Yup, I fainted. Lots of factors contributed (hot altar, heavy dress, hairdresser and make-up artist coming thisclose to blows, 50 lbs bouquet, 30 min. homily that included Frank Sinatra and a wildebeast) but not eating wasn't one of them. (I had a very good breakfast!) We had just brought flowers to the Blessed Mother and I started feeling really tired. I was listening to the Ave Maria but I couldn't concentrate and I lost track of the lyrics. When we got back to the main altar I realized that, there was another verse to go. I just kept thinking,"Hang on, it's almost over." When they finished, I didn't wait for the priest. I nodded to the organist to play the recessional. I said maybe if I close my eyes and shake my head I'll feel better. NOPE! Took one step and down I went.

OleMissGlitter 12-09-2005 02:08 PM

aopirose I didn't know that!!!

:)

Fun stuffs!

grapemachine 12-30-2005 02:53 PM
