Ben and Jerry's - Bringing Back Flavors

Vote to renew a retired Ben and Jerry's Flavor!

My favorite was Wavy Gravy! That stuff was hella good!

non-greek newby 04-07-2005 10:36 AM

aaww man, whatever happened to peanut turtles?

JupiterTC 04-07-2005 03:19 PM

White Russians are retired? I could have sworn that I had one of those in Chapel Hill a few months ago.

squirrely girl 04-07-2005 05:43 PM

i'm all about anything with peanut butter in it!

I didn't think they made Ben & Jerry's anymore, period. Do they? You've given me hope! :)

I have trouble finding it around here. Guess I'm just not looking in the right spot. *sigh* Now at least I don't have to cry every time I wear my tie-dye "Cherry Garcia" t-shirt. :p

I think it is a New England thing. I've been in every other part of the country, and haven't seen it represented nearly as much as it is here.

ladygreek 04-08-2005 10:00 AM

I wish Baskin and Robbins (what few stores they have left) would bring back English Toffee. :(

It seems like a few more have sprung up around here in New England when paired with Dunkin Donuts. I don't see too many starting up on their own, though.

chideltjen 04-08-2005 12:24 PM

I remember a B & J flavor... I think it was Oatmeal Cookie. I never see it anywhere though. But I didn't see it on the list either.

But I'm down for anything with PB and Chocolate in it.

Cool Britannia

The summer I worked at a bible camp this was the desert of choice for the staff. The mini deep freeze in the staff HQ cabin was filled with only this ice cream for 3 months. Anytime you needed a break from the kids, just plop down in a couch in the HQ cabin and have some ice cream.

sigmagrrl 04-08-2005 02:04 PM

I also voted for Cool Britannia:D

As I am well versed in Ben and Jerry's ( I worked there for 7 years) I can tell you we lost our fair share of kick ass flavors to non popularity with the mass market. One of my many favorites was Chocolate Raspberry Swirl.

And incidentally Jill, there were 2 different formulations of Wavy Gravy. The original was way sweeter than the 2nd, it was a caramel brazilnut ice cream with caramel swirls and chocolate covered toffee chunks. The 2nd (and my preferred wavy) had chocolate hazelnut swirl.
Ahh...the good old days.:)

Oh, how I miss Fresh Georgia Peach.

abaici 04-09-2005 01:15 AM

I was rather fond of Southern Pecan Pie. Now, I'll settle for Uncanny Cashew.

PhiPsiRuss 04-09-2005 07:44 AM

Apple Crumble

was the best non-chocolate flavor EVAR!!!

and I don't see it mentioned. :(

I see it all the time in the store, but paying that much for such a little tub of ice cream...eek.

It's worth every penny. Seriously, life is too short to eat cheap ice cream.

Wiser words were never written.

Why pay $2 for crappy ice cream when you can pay $4 for amazing ice cream?

docetboy 04-09-2005 09:17 PM

You all suck. You just made me go buy some chunky monkey.

(only in this thread can I say that and make sense, lmao)

AOIIalum 04-10-2005 09:10 AM

Don't feel bad, I'm going to the grocery in a bit and I'll be coming home with Phish Food.

nucutiepie 05-01-2005 09:22 PM

You can't vote to bring back s'mores which i LOVED... but I do enjoy the half baked flavor

Xylochick216 05-01-2005 09:59 PM

I miss Concession Obsession... best ice cream EVER. Sno-Capps, chocolate covered peanuts, nestle crunch, caramel, etc....

KatieKate1244 05-02-2005 01:57 AM

World's Best Vanilla was my favorite. It was the only one I would eat, since I hate crunchy stuff in ice cream. The vanilla for a change wasn't near as good.

My favorite: Oatmeal Cookie Chunk or Heath Bar Crunch. Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!

The Truth 05-02-2005 10:39 AM

Southern Pecan Pie. That was the best ice cream I have ever bought from a store. Those big chunks of crust would make you slap somebody! I am soooooo mad they don't make that anymore.

Oh. . . my. . . goodness. . . you are soooo right! Those big, gargantuan chunks of heath bar in there - no other heath crunch ice cream can compare.

Okay, I think I'll go get some tomorrow. This is actually the only ice cream from B & J's that I eat. Breyer's is the only Butter Pecan that I eat.

I think maybe its a major city thing ? They carry it in supermarkets here in Cali, and we have three B&J ice cream stores just in like a 1/2 mile of my place. I don't know if they stopped making it but I LOVE One sweet Whirld... it has Marshmallow creme in it YUMMY !!

kapsigcub 05-06-2005 01:49 PM

It isn't retired, but B & J's Chocolate Therapy is the most delicious ice cream evah - a combination of chocolate ice cream, chocolate pudding, and chocolate cookies. You should try it today.
