Frank Miller's Sin City
Is anyone going to see this tonight. I have heard great reviews. Me and the hubby are going tonight to see it.
|
I'll be there. 600 North right? Heck yeah.

We are actually going out to Woodridge to go to Hollywood Blvd Theatre (where you can eat and drink it up while watching the movie).

yea I am so there
|
i will be in the theaters tonight....well, that's if dude on 125th isn't selling it first.
|
I actually really want to see this... and I'm not usually a big fan of action movies. I haven't seen a movie in ages so this is the perfect opportunity.
|
man.....
my inner fan-girl is just bursting to come out.....a live action graphic novel.....could it get any better? with all the cool ass reviews, rodriguez, tarantino, miller, clive owen, bruce willis...... ok, i have pushed the fangirl back....but yea I can't wait :D |
Going to go see it tomorrow! :D
|
I saw it today (I prefer matinee movies) and I liked it. It was different, I had never heard of this before I saw the previews so I didn't know what to really expect but was pleasantly surprised.

It kicks all kinds of ass. So many scene stealers you can't even count them all, but Mickey Rourke is sooooooo Marv. This is the new measuring stick for comic movies. Needless to say, I liked it. :D
|
I saw it with the bf and his friend yesterday, good stuff. He had me read the three sin city books in the movie and I thought it was awesome. It stayed true to the comics and didn't add lots of profanity.
I was impressed with the usage of black and white with a hint of color too! |
Can we say boring five times really quickly? If you can then you will enjoy yourself much more than if you went to see this movie.
The concept in our time of this movie with its cinematography and play on colors, its use of violence is enjoyable. 2 hours of this bullshit is so boring that I wonder how much you truly can enjoy it. If you're the kind that enjoys reptitive scenes with no true progression or depth, then this is your kinda movie. If I had gotten up after the first hour and walked out, I would have liked the movie. It makes me wonder why he chose to take 3 stories and show them and create such a long movie. -Rudey |
Rudey,
I actually agree with you. I have to confess that I mainly wanted to see Benecio and Nick Stahl (though he was creepy in this movie.) But I also wanted to support Robert Rodriguez since he is an Austinite and the entire movie was filmed here in Austin. |
Saw it. Hated it.
Granted, I didn't read the graphic novels, and maybe it's just a sign of my rapidly advancing age, but the movie was disgustingly violent and just about sickened me. There was only about 40% of the movie I could actually stand to watch. It's too bad, because it is a visually stunning film. |
Overall I loved it and now want the DVD :D
However, there were some parts that could have been much better. |
The violence wasn't a problem. It was part of the attraction. The repetitiveness of the violence and the same stupid gimmicks for 2 hours make it awfully boring. A one trick pony.

Overall I liked it b/c it was way different than any other movies I've seen

There is a Kappa Delta from Texas credited in Sin City as one of the Old Town Girls.
Lauren-Elaine Edleson Some of her work is profiled here. She is supposed to be profiled in Maxim in time for The Ringer’s release. She plays Brandi, “the troublemaker”, the lead is Johnny Knoxville. She has also appeared as “Becky” in three Dierks Bentley videos on CMT. ETA: I heard a lot of it was filmed in Austin, Texas where director Robert Rodriguez lives. — During the premiere (in Austin), the crowd reaction was taped for eventual inclusion as an audio track on the “Sin City” DVD. Now when you get the DVD, this is going to be annoying at first, because people were cheering at everything — even studio logos. But as the movie unfolded and everyone got wrapped up in its world, many high-quality gasps, hollers, guffaws and ewwws were delivered. — In the post-movie Q&A, Rodriguez enthused about digital filmmaker and even said that “guest director” Quentin Tarantino (he was in charge of a ghoulishly funny scene with Owen and Del Toro) was a convert to the high-tech way. All the computer magic helped them shoot quickly. King, who has a fair-sized part, says she was done in a couple of days. |
the boy dragged me to this last night... i was actually shocked that i liked it. and to think that i DESPISE quentin tarentino.. dont know why, just do ...
now i have to go get the books! |
Quentin only directed one scene in the movie - when they go to whore town and benicio gets killed by the asian girl. if you notice the crazy blood spurting out of his hand when it gets cut off - very a la QT

I dont really know what the first story with the guy (Josh Hartnett) shooting the girl was... maybe it was to link the first scene and the last scene - where he is in the elevator with the gilmore girl to show that he was a hit-man and basically, she's gonna die even if it wasnt shown.
|
I saw it tonight, and it was bad. Visually it was cool, but the story was boring. I kept hoping it would get better. After an hour I wanted to leave and sneak into the movie playing next door.
|
I thought that was the gilmore girl. She grew up nice.
|
as I posted last night on one of my mIRC channels (yes, I am that much of a geek)
the movie was F*CKING AWESOME! I loved it, was a little hockie at the beginning (Josh Hartnet scene) but then realized that I was there for the ride and get over myself and it supposed to be film noir-ish yea I will be going to see it again and I will be buying the dvd....Micky Rourke, Bruce and Clive are just so awesome in this film. I'm a happy girl |
I just want to say thank you to Robert Rodriguez for making my man Bruce get back into a suit and tie and grow back his hair and look hot like God intended (except, of course, for the big ass scar on his forehead). Bruce, this is your look, OK? Stay with it, OK? No more of this head shaving crap. Thank you.
All I can say is if you are a guy and get sqeamish about seeing other guys get kicked, hit, sliced or shot in the jimmy, DON'T see this movie. |
Saw it. Loved it. Will buy the DVD.
Thought the plotline was a little random, but didn't really care. Loved the cinematography. Why are the girls named Becky in movies always hookers or losers? Makes me want to change my name. |
Saw it last week & hated it. The only redeeming quality was Clive Owen & even he wasn't enough to hold my interest for a long period of time.
|
loved it! and thanks for shedding a little light on josh hartnetts character.
p.s. i love the name Becky and think its very classy sounding no matter what the movies say! |
