West Wing Addicts.
West Wing is my favorite show.
lAst nights episode was one of the best in a long time. 1. Damn Charlie how do you get cuaght boning the presidents duaghter in the White House. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_56.gif 2. I think Santos is going to win the democratic election. 3. I dont thing whoever wins the general election the show is going to be as good with the new staff. 4. CJ is going to be fired or imprisoned for leaking that story about the military space shuttle. |
I love that show as well...I only was able to catch the end though.
I agree with you that Santos will win - if you paid attention to the part where they showed next week's episode, you could see pretty clearly that it was Jimmy Smits. Plus, I don't think he would have just signed on for a few episodes. I read an interview with the series creators a month or so ago, and they didn't rule out the possibility of a Republican president and going on with that scenario. I think Alda is good in the show, but I think they would have to change too much for him to be the new star. It will be interesting to see what happens next week. |
It was a great episode last night. There have been a couple of fairly weak ones recently, I think.

Anybody else watching the season premiere?

I watched it. Not sure this show held together as well as I would have liked, but it sure has the makings of a great season.

I don't think it's CJ. If anything, I think it's Toby for a couple of reasons:
1) He seemed to be surprised that he was invited to the library dedication; 2) Richard Schiff has already said he won't be on more than 5 episodes this season. |

I'm going to re-watch the episode tonight, but I'm interested to hear people's speculations on who will be the next president.
I'm starting to follow some of the spec in the TWOP West Wing threads that Santos/McGarry will end up coming out on top, but that something will happen to make Santos have to step down. Leo then becomes the head of the ticket, and Sam Seaborn comes back as his VP. |

I totally missed the bit about Toby being surprised about being asked to the dedication...need to watch it again, but LOL about CJ & Danny. So sad that Josh couldn't hire Donna. I'm sad this is probably the last season, and hope it goes out with a bang... |
I think Donna will end up working for Josh in some capacity, just not as his deputy on the campaign. If Santos/McGarry (or McGarry/Seaborn) end up in the O. at the end of the season, I could totally see Donna as Josh's Deputy CoS, or even better, the WH Press Secretary.
If she didn't have an official postion in the O., wouldn't she have been in the opening teaser? |

If she didn't have an official postion in the O., wouldn't she have been in the opening teaser? Good observation ole wise one! :) the writing has improved greatly since Aaron Sorkin has left and i saw that by the season premiere......coming from one who has been obessed with the show since day one. Though i agree with the Toby observation, afterall his brother works for NASA as an astronaut. Brotherly inside info being traded I bet, however C.J has this deer caught in the headlights look to her.....though i love the opening teaser about Danny and CJ having a baby. I hope this isnt the last season because i REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY want Rob Lowe to come back to finish it off if it does go off the air! I mean i struggled watching that lifetime series ( Boring) with him beause i am in love with him!!! bring him back and give him more money!!!!!!!!!:D |
I think the only way they can bring Rob back and pay him the money he wants is after Martin Sheen is off the show. One of the reasons that Sorkin was let go (in addition to not turning in scripts on time) was that he was VERY spendy when it came to the show, and the network wanted them to cut back drastically.
You're the only person I've heard who said that the writing has improved under John Wells. I hate to admit it, but in some respects I kind of agree. The last two seasons have been the first time I've been able to watch the show without subtitles because people speak more clearly and distinctly now. They're not trying to jam in all that Sorkin-esque dialogue in 15 seconds. :) BTW - Sorkin has said that he wants to write the final episode of the show, whenever it airs. He's also said that if he writes that episode, he wants Rob Lowe involved somehow. The ratings for the premiere were terrible, so I'm thinking that this is the last season for TWW, and that's yet another point to my spec that we're going to see a McGarry/Seaborn ticket (or Seaborn/McGarry) before the season is out! |

You definitely called that one! i had a feeling it was tobey too! like i said his brother is a astronaut .....this season is good! last season was a snore.
|
The people I talked to liked the writing in the earlier seasons better . . but it seems like the more recent seasons have a lot more focus in the human problems of each character . . I don't like that as much . ..
I haven't watched every episode of every season . . . did Josh and Donna ever hook up? Are they ever going to? I got the impression there was some sexual tension there. |

Overall, I think the shows this year have tried to keep too many threads going simultaneously, and have been a little choppy. It's still one of the best shows on the air, though. |

The episodes have been a lot weaker lately, but I thought last night's was really good. |
I just read the cancellation article and they are not having Aaron Sorkin involved in the series finale :(
I hope that atl east they get donna and josh together.....make some of us happy at least. what would make me very happy over this cancellation is 1) dont cancel it 2) they bring Rob Lowe back to be the VP running in place of Leo. Allison Janney was on a tv show saying they are writing his death into the script. |
It appears John Spencer's heart attack was the final blow for the series, already suffering, as well.

I thought this season has been solid; hopefully they won't ruin it with an over-dramatic or over-reaching finale. |

BUMP! BUMP!
Ok all my west wing fellow junkies
Did you all see tonights show.....AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D finally those two kissed after yrs of frustration and YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rob Lowe is going to be in the finale :D:D:D:D:D:D:D |
The episode tonight was really good; it seems like they've been setting up the Vinnick defeat for a month or so. I would be surprised if he ended up winning.
I'm glad Lowe is coming back for the final episodes; he was one of my favorite characters when the show started. |
And CJ's hair is getting darker and darker. Is that supposed to make her look more intelligent?
|
I'm so not a Josh/Donna shipper, so their kiss meant nothing to me. But Kate/Will? OMG, I was squealing like a teenage girl. I love it when nerds fall in love, and they're so cute together. :)
|
what happened last night? i was in vegas and at a show so i am totally in the dark as to what happened last night?
|
Appearantly they will be bringing back all major characters from past seasons to be in the final episodes!!! If that's true, that will be very exciting :)
|
well, we finally found out that matt santos has indeed been elected president. they were leading up to it all season, but i'm glad it actually panned out. oddly enough, they made vinnick into a character and candidate i actually liked - it's the people around him that were cunning and deceitful, he was actually a pretty stand-up guy for the most part.
they handled the leo/john spencer issue pretty well, next week should be sad. i can't wait for the episode when Rob Lowe returns! |

Anyway, last night was good, my guess is that Sam (Rob Lowe) comes back as the VP. |

Last night was a really good episode. It's too bad the show is going away. |

Of course, you're probably right, and they'll do something like choose C.J. Last night's episode was pretty good (not as good as the first election one, in my opinion), but I'm not sure I'll watch next week. I've had enough funerals in the past year, I'm not sure I want to sit for an hour and watch one played out on TV. |
We'll watch next week.
That show is generally so well directed, written and shot that I think (hope) it will be exceptionally well done. |
Ok so here's something interesting that I read on an entertainment blog. They think Santos is going to ask Vinick to be his VP. The other person they think is Nancy McNally. How do you all feel about those choices?
|
Quote:
I never really thought of McNally, but they could really go all out having a first woman VP to go with a first Latino president. Sam was probably my favorite character on the early years, so I'm hoping it will be him, but who knows. |
I found CJ's inferences to the 22 amendment (I think that's the one with Presidential term limits) interesting......
I got the feeling she was insinuating that Bartlett could come back as the VP. Due to what happened in the beginning of the very first episode of the season I would say no to anyone currently in the Bartlett Admin being named VP...... And if the VP candidate has to be "approved" by Congress, it won't be a Republican either. |
