You know you're an ADPi when...

I saw this on a couple of other boards and thought it would be fun:

You know you're an ADPi when...

* most of your wardrobe is blue and white

* you get excited everytime you see lion stuff and proclaim "look at that Alphie!"

* your husband points out "Alphie" stuff when shopping :)

* there are violets all over your house

honeychile 03-17-2005 03:03 PM

*You don't even look good in blue, but still have it in your wardrobe!

*You have tiny little scratches from those four points on the pin.

*You consider a trip to Atlanta or Macon "a Pilgrimage"!

*First born pets are always named "Alphie".

*You serve "Apple Delta Pie".

*You celebrate Pi Day.

Next!...

scho5148 03-17-2005 03:16 PM

You know you're an ADPi when...

* You start singing ADPi's 'Sacred Bonds' while watching the end of 'Dirty Dancing' and just can't help it

* You wonder how to incorporate Sophronia or Octavia into your daughter's name...maybe not

* You can never have enough lion, violet, or blue jewelry, clothing, knicknacks, dinnerware, photo frames, etc and keep your eye out for that stuff no matter where you are

nauadpi 03-17-2005 03:42 PM

You know you're an ADPi when...

*You plan moving dates around being able to go to convention

*You sing ADPi songs in the shower

*Your husband can sing along with many of the songs

And to comment on this one, Tavia is short of Octavia... so I think I have found a way to incorporate Octavia into my future daughter's name...

CougADPi 03-17-2005 04:00 PM

* blue and white were your wedding colors and you insisted that the florist put violets in your bouquet (it turned out really nice, btw!)

* you yell "thats my sister" watching Wonder Years and Designing Women reruns

* you truly believe that diamonds are a girls best friend

ADPi Conniebama 03-18-2005 10:13 PM

* you call your cousin your sister - you call your aunt your sister - you call your best friend your sister

* you actually sign up for a 5k run for ADPi and the last time you worked out was over a year ago

* you "recognized" a sister at an intersection and can't tell your husband what just happened.

honeychile 03-18-2005 10:54 PM

*You're going down the interstate at about 90 mph, and you tell your fiance, "just a little faster, to get even with the car with the ADPi decal!" so you can make the < against the window! AND you get all excited when they > against their windows right back!

*The ONLY reason you don't get a lawn care service is because you have wild violets growing in your yard and

*You pick the violets to make violet ice cubes,

*Candied violets for cakes etc,

*and violet jam!

*You take photos of said violets, and the developer puts a sticker on one saying, "This one would look great if enlarged!"

lonestaradpi 03-19-2005 12:11 AM

* Everytime you see Karen Hughes (of the Bush administration) and Emily Proctor on TV you have to remind your DH, yet again, that they are your sisters.

* You search for baby clothes with lions on them to outfit the new little legacies. BTW, anyone know where I can find some cute onsies with lions? Thanks!

* Everytime you see anything that has to do with Miss Texas, you have to remind them that you've seen Miss Texas 1998 w/o make up at initiation. Poor DH!

WLFEO 03-19-2005 01:01 AM

There are some really cute onesies, outfits, and blankets right now in the Carter's layette. I look at them all the time when I go to Babies R Us, but I bet they're carried at other stores (like Dillards or maybe Target) also.

Thank you. I don't have babies and I am not so educated in baby stuff. I'm getting better, though. I appreciate the info.

You know you're an ADPi when:
* You go out of your way to find all the lion statues and make your husband take pictures of you with them when you visit any European city.
* Anytime you hear Strawberry Wine- you hit your husband and say, "That's my sister!"
* Half of your knickknack decroations are lions.
* You own all of the Gift Mart ADPi Christmas ornaments except one.
* All of your notecards for Thank you's and randomn notes have violets on the front.

well i'm not married, so it wasn't my husband, but rather my 16 yearold cousin, and he said "no she's not!" to which i replied "well i've never met her, but she's an adpi, so yes, she is!"

(I KNOW for a fact that I'm not the only one who does this...)

Guilty ;)

* You're picking your teams for the NCAA tournament (men or women) and you start picking teams based on them having a chapter there, regardless of their seeding...yes, I've done this this year, too :)

I TOTALLY do that, too! :)

emleepc 03-25-2005 01:48 PM

You haven't talked to a sister in a long time (even though you live in the same city), but you hear that she's going through a rough time with her BF......you immediately call her, and schedule an all girls' pizza and a movie night.

--no matter how long it's been, you still have the bonds of sisterhood!

CougADPi 03-25-2005 02:21 PM

* you wonder if your neighbor might be an ADPi since she has a dog named "Diamond"

honeychile 03-25-2005 02:32 PM

*You are doing a daily "lawn check" to see if any violets are up yet, so that you can make either violet ice cubes or violet jam!

*You don't have ChemLawn (to your neighbors' disapproval) due to the above!

ChemLawn left me a note once, stating that I have wild violets in my yard, and needed their services, please send the card back to them. I wrote "Horrors! And here I thought they were beautiful!" on the card and sent it back!

texas*princess 03-25-2005 03:31 PM

* the second you hear "Alphie" you automatically think of ADPi. I was talking to my younger sister on the phone the other night, and she asked me "Have you seen Alfie?" (referring to the movie) and I said "Yea! I have a ton of Alphies!!!" LOL Confused, she asked me how I had a ton of Alfies...

I had to later tell her that I hadn't seen Alfie the movie.. but my sorority mascot Alphie :p

Last Sunday I traveled to a singing near Tuscaloosa, and saw tons of wild violets!!!!! I was going to pick some to plant at my house, but then I thought, "I'd better leave them in their natural habitat so that others can enjoy them too" (plus I'd probably kill them anyway)

<-----does not have a green thumb!

I do NOT have a green thumb at all - these are wild violets!! But, these same violets can be picked at peak season, and made into ice cube with violets in the center, crystallized for cake decorating, or violet jam.

* your pet dresses up as a lion for halloween.

Yep, I don't even have my own dog yet, but I definitely plan to dress my future fluff up as a lion come Halloween!

honeychile 03-26-2005 12:12 AM

*Your roomie has dressed her child as a lion for Halloween.

*You go on vacation, and decide to do a little hour touring (this may be a place to which you will move). When you see the model home all done up in Azure Blue & White, you take photos from every possible angle, for your own use!

*You have then taken said photos to a paint center, and tried to make the exact color for your walls!

MiamiADPi 03-29-2005 03:47 PM

*everytime you go to Michael's craft store you buy all of their small wooden lions and all of the small rectangular shaped wooden boxes with the diamond on top (you can never find them when you need them, better stock up, :D )

*the only paints you own are blue, white, and violet

ADPi Conniebama 04-11-2005 08:47 PM

I also waited as long as I could to cut my grass. Those beautiful wild violets are all over my yard. I picked some and my husband said I was acting like a little girl. I said nope I am acting like an ADPi. (I know sounds hokey but it was fun)

honeychile 04-11-2005 10:10 PM

We're doing Jewel Degree on Friday, and I'm making the punch. Do you think that the ice ring will contain a few hundred violets? :D

Now, to decide on punch recipes...!

CougADPi 04-12-2005 06:18 PM

* When buying a car you take into consideration if the color will look ok with your ADPi bumper stickers

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!
I placed an order with Gift Mart today (love you, Ellen!!!!!) and there's a new bumper sticker: a magnetic Euro-style one!!!! Needless to say, it got added to my "cart", as it will go with ANY car!!!

ADPi Conniebama 04-12-2005 11:01 PM

OOOO I have one of those and I love it. I have been against putting any stickers on my "new" xterra (bought in 2003). So I have been putting any bumper stickers - ADPi or political or whatever on this old large (like 11x17) magnet. Then I can put it on my car and I am not stuck with it (no pun intended).

For instance, I got one of those black "W" stickers - stuck it to the magnet then I had it on my car until about a month after the elections then I was able to take it off to make way for my "roll tide" magnet.

Just a little idea for anyone who is interested.

So to reiterate (sp?) save old large magnets - stick bumper stickers to the magnet then it becomes a magnet for your car.

But I love my EURO ADPi magnet looks great on the xterra

Awesome...that definitely gives me more options!! :)

honeychile 04-13-2005 11:54 PM

-You ask your sisters if they have any recipes for a blue nonalcoholic punch!! We're doing Jewel Degree on Friday, and I've already made the violet-sprinkled ice ring - I'd like a punch that would go with it!

I found one that's white cranberry juice, gingerale, and blue Kool-Aid. Has anyone tried that?

ADPi Conniebama 07-30-2006 11:13 AM

ok you know you're an ADPi when . . .

or I should change it to you know you are an ADPi advisor when . . .

You have to add minutes to your cell phone contract just to make up for "recruitment phone calls."

and (I don't know if anyone has said this before)

You look at the wedding/engagement section every sunday for " Ms. Soandso is a graduate of bla bla university and is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority." I love to see ADPi in the news paper.

Oh, I SO do that! And I know Honey does, too!

honeychile 05-25-2008 09:39 PM

You know that you're past the lion stationery, so you go for the azure blue.

FirstAndFinest 05-26-2008 03:16 PM

...you get soo excited to see diamond-shaped woodwork on old buildings!

polarpi 05-26-2008 06:51 PM

Going back to the baby thing ....;)

You know you're an ADPi when you're making "burp cloths" decorated with ribbon, and decide to do one with paw print ribbon and a light (not *technically* azure) blue ribbon even with the baby-to-be being a girl (and a legacy!) :D

true_blue 09-25-2008 12:38 PM

Me too!
