Nancy Grace of CNN/Court TV....

Who watches her?

She such a guilty pleasure. Shes so dramatic. Could you imagine her at the dry cleaners if they couldnt get a spot out? "You call this dry cleaning? I dont think so Mister!"

Quote of the week came from Real Time with Bill Mahr last friday, "Its Nancy Grace's world. We just live in it."

Shes over the top... like a dog with a bone.

Your thoughts/opinions

moe.ron 03-19-2005 06:13 AM

I see her on Larry King a lot. For some reason, she realy annoys me. Maybe it's her smugness.

KillarneyRose 03-19-2005 11:32 AM

I Love Nancy Grace. This thread reminds me that she has a new book out and I've been meaning to see if our library has it.

SATX*APhi 03-19-2005 04:00 PM

She's awesome! I love how she always has a "you better not mess with me" attitude. I love it!

hoosier 03-19-2005 04:19 PM

I've always loved Ann Coulter. She rocks, and has great skills of communication.

moe.ron 03-19-2005 04:55 PM

I'm confused, I thought this is about Nancy Grace. When did Ann Coulter come into the picture?

Phasad1913 03-19-2005 05:10 PM

I like her, (Grace).

cutiepatootie 03-20-2005 01:04 AM

My father detest nancy grace but my mother and I think she is awesome!

NutBrnHair 03-21-2005 02:50 PM

I went to college with Nancy Grace. She was an ADPi. I saw an article about her in TV Guide last year & laughed when they listed her age as 39. Yeah....she must have been 12 when we were in school! LOL

sageofages 03-21-2005 04:41 PM

Her smug self righteousness and know-it-all about legal things drives me nuts!

I love when she won't admit she is wrong, especially when confronted with videoed evidence she made an incorrect assertion! "I didn't say it like that...I SAID "but but but"

James 03-22-2005 12:40 AM

I agree with Ariesrising. I don't know what it is but she annoys me. Which is probably why she has a TV show.

Also, for some reason she gives me the impression of being a bit of a man hater. Or at least having a chip on her shoulder when it comes to men.

I also hate how Headline News changed their ticker to the kind that scrolls across the screen....I liked it better before and they have to go and mess with it. Stupid Headline News.

It is her vendetta attitude toward criminals..."I know how the VICTIM feels cause I have been there. Poor me, my fiancee was murdered weeks before our wedding"

Well babe...lots of people lose loved ones...and they don't become all knowing experts on legal issues.!

I do know that she was once engaged and during the engagement her fiance was murdered, which is why she decided to go to law school.

ETA: Am I an echo? Ah!

Reports from Behind the Scenes with Nancy:

Anyone who witnessed legal analyst Nancy Grace's combative performance at the recent Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles won’t be surprised by the behind-the-scenes reports coming from CNN Headline News’ new show, Nancy Grace. The diva act continues.

However, CNN may be inclined to take the bad with the good, because Grace is lifting the beleaguered channel in the ratings.

Just one week into the prime time show (which got off with a rocky start with a glitch-filled premiere), Grace has already had her make-up person reassigned, and laced into a production staffer so mercilessly that he quit the show. In a departure for the traditionally low-glitz CNN, Grace has commanded a room of her own for makeup. But it's not as if she wants privacy; the host calls her staff in for meetings while she's being spruced up.

As the show enters its second week, CNN staffers expect more tension. This is cable honey, skip the diva business, says one. It was an echo of reactions to Grace at the TCA gathering in January, when her grande-dame manner during Q&As with journalists raised eyebrows.

I will admit that I have tuned in to Nancy Grace's show on a more regular basis for updates on Natalie Holloway and Taylor Behl.

Agreed. I don't like her, but admittedly I have a pro-criminal bias, LOL. They should hire me to present the other side.

Honeykiss1974 10-11-2005 11:12 AM

Me no likey...........

I do not care for Nancy Grace. She's just too "over the top" for my taste. BLAH!

This feeling became even stronger after the Natalie Holloway disappearance.

Personally, I don't think I necessarily "like her" but I watch her because she's so entertaining.

Actually, she's a mess. All over the place. What cracks me up so much is when she asks a question to someone and then kinda answers it herself meanwhile that person is on the screen and then she goes off on another tangent and asks another question.

But my favorite is when she says things like "lady trooper" instead of "officer so and so" or "preacher" instead of "reverend so and so" or "your girl" instead of "your daughter."

The DRAMA she has is so fantastic.

I find her hilarious.

I want to thank you, for inviting me into your home.

Goodnight friend.

So dripping wet dramatic it's so great!

I TOTALLY agree with you, aabby!!! This thread would be better placed in "Entertainment" rather than "News."

I love it when she references her days growing up in Macon, GA and her homespun phrases.

I realize viewers either love her or can't stand her -- she definitely brings about strong opinions.

Bingo!

Frankly, I don't care which side of the political spectrum anyone is on -- I don't like being yelled at. Which, to me, is what a lot of these folks seem to be doing.

I think that I (and most of you other GC contributors) are at least as smart (or smarter) than they are anyway.

They's just louder.

2007 a big year for Nancy Grace

Well, my former classmate has had a good year -- in June she married fellow Mercerian, David Linch and in November they welcomed their twins. The babies were due in January, but came "early." (Of course they did -- she has good Southern home-training!)

She comes back on her show Jan. 6th or 7th, I think I read.

Welcome Back Nancy, you are one of a kind!

honeychile 12-28-2007 12:40 AM

I'm out of the loop on my sister! Twins? Legacies? Can you just imagine the trainwreck of being Nancy Grace's daughter during Recruitment?!?!?

smiley21 12-28-2007 01:07 AM

I am out of the loop on my own sister. I did not know she is an ADPi...interesting.

MandyPepperidge 12-28-2007 01:24 AM

She rubs me the wrong way. I'm still incensed that she never apologized for her comments regarding the guiltiness of the Duke lax players.

People magazine reports this on 11/05/07:

Nancy Grace and her husband David Linch welcomed twins Lucy Elizabeth and John David on Sunday – an early delivery for Grace, who had developed a pulmonary edema during the pregnancy.

"Her physician determined it would be best for Nancy, and for the twins, to deliver them [on Sunday]," a rep for Grace said. "Lucy Elizabeth, John David, and their proud parents are now resting comfortably."

John David weighed 5 lbs., 1 oz. at birth, and Lucy Elizabeth weighed 2 lbs., 15 oz. according to the rep. Grace, 48, had been due to give birth in January, PEOPLE reported this summer.

"The babies are doing fine. Our little girl is doing just as well as her brother despite her weight – and mom is doing great," Linch tells PEOPLE.

Pulmonary edema involves swelling and/or fluid accumulation in the lungs. No further details were given about Grace's condition, or that of the twins, on Monday.

Grace and Linch, an investment banker in Atlanta, married in April.

According to Grace's rep, John David is named for his father and John the Revelator. Lucy Elizabeth is named after Grace's mother Elizabeth and grandmother Lucy.

Last month Grace was feted at a baby shower in Manhattan hosted by good pal and former Court TV colleague Diane Dimond. Linch and a host of pals, including Kimberly Guilfoyle and Lisa Bloom, attended and brought gifts such as a pair of his and hers cowboy booties for the twins to match mom's signature pair.

Lawsuit against Nancy Grace, CNN moves ahead

I know there's a thread about her in the ADPi forum, but I didn't want to put this there out of respect to her sisters.

Source

Quote:

OCALA, Fla. (AP) — A federal judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit that claims CNN's Nancy Grace pushed the mother of a missing toddler to suicide through aggressive questioning.

CNN and Grace argued the wrongful death lawsuit brought by Melinda Duckett's family would "severely chill" journalists' coverage of missing-persons cases. But U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges on Thursday denied their motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

Duckett, 21, was on Grace's show after her son Trenton went missing from her apartment in August 2006. Grace grilled the woman, accusing her of hiding something because Duckett did not take a lie-detector test and answered vaguely regarding her whereabouts.

Duckett fatally shot herself before the network aired the pre-taped interview.
Thoughts?

Personally, and this may be 'out there', I think the lady killed herself because of guilt. There's no proof that she had a hand in her son's disappearance, but hello? People don't kill themselves because they didn't like what people had to say about them. Guilt? Probably.

I hope Nancy wins this one.

Senusret I 08-01-2008 03:55 PM

I wonder about this - why would you go on one of these shows, especially one where the host is known for aggressive questioning. There are other ways to get the word out.

Right. Unless you've been living in a cave for the last few years, you'd have to know that going on Nancy Grace is like voluntarily walking into a firing squad.

I am with you. Although I am definitely not what one would consider a "fan" of NG (I prefer the kinder, gentler, less emotional and more academic Greta) I do hope that she prevails.

Another ridiculous lawsuit.

pinksirfidel 08-04-2008 03:02 PM

I love to watch her show....not because I love her! lol... The only major beef I have with her, is the way she presumes every suspect GUILTY before they've had their day in court. She's emotionally tied to all of the cases on her show... but, yes I still watch. DRAMA sells! lol :p

NutBrnHair 08-04-2008 03:22 PM

Nancy was the commencement speaker for the May 2008 graduation for our alma mater, Mercer University. She did a very nice job. Much better than the "no-name" speaker I listened to 25 years earlier.

Information about her current lawsuit.

ORLANDO, Fla. — A judge has ruled that talk show host Nancy Grace can be videotaped while answering questions in a Florida wrongful death lawsuit.

But lawyers representing Melinda Duckett's family can't share the recording with "any third party" or disclose any portion of the testimony without the federal magistrate's permission. Grace's lawyers wanted to bar the videotaping to spare Grace embarrassment.

Duckett's family is suing the host of HLN, formerly CNN Headline News.

I'm a little late on this lawsuit, but obviously Melinda Duckett was emotionally unstable. An emotionally stable person would take Nancy's accusations and roll it off their back.

Good Morning America played a bit of the interview and even I could tell she was hiding something.

Seriously, Nancy can go "for the kill". It's almost like the people going on American Idol and getting all pissy when Simon tells them they suck. Nancy (and even Simon) have been on the air long enough for people to know what to expect. You should expect them to push.

I'm not a lawyer, but what are they suing her for? Wrongful death? I'm guessing the family is irked that they couldn't get prosecutors to go after Nancy for their daugthers suicide, so now they've moved on to suing her.

It's kind of unnerving to hear national television totally diss your sister!

Ironic. Her show depends on videotapes.
