Kappa Songs

Do any of you have Midi or Wav's of Kappa songs? I was trying to put together a collection of Kappa songs on a CD. If you have any information, even if it's just written words, it would be appreciated if you would reply. Thanks so much,
Krista (member of Lambda chapter)

KKG the only letters you need to know

Hey--
This might be too late, but we have incredible skits for rush. We had some music professionally done at a local cheer gym, it's a couple of mixes of some popular songs with an added "kkg" touch, and we have a monopoly theme. Anyway, I'd be happy to tell you more about it if you're interested. Good Luck, Courtney

Re: Kappa Songs

For Pref Day, we sing "I Never Saw Blue Like That Before" from the Runaway Bride soundtrack (can't remember who sings it... arg!) - it's not specifically Kappa, but it's a pretty song and it should be pretty easy to find online.

vukkg 09-01-2002 11:35 PM

Oh my God! We sing Never Saw Blue Like That Before too! ITs by Shaun Colvin. It is such a touching song...."I can't believe a month ago, I was alone, I hadn't seen or heard your name..." Everything just relates! Kappa really does "feel like coming home"!

KerriMarie 12-19-2002 02:34 AM

It's neat to know that another chapter sings that too... it makes me cry when I hear it now!

What sort of songs do you use? I am a Kappa at USC-Columbia and we need cute songs for our slide show! Anything would help. ;) Thanks!

imsohappythatiama 07-01-2003 10:04 AM

For our slide show, we used to use sections of the following songs:

* Friends and Lovers (In My Life), by the Beatles
* Give A Little Bit (of my life to you), by SuperTramp
* These Are Days, by 10,000 Maniacs
* I Never Saw Blue Like That Before, by Shaun Colvin
* These Are the Times (to remember), by Billy Joel
* So Happy Together, by The Turtles
* Theme from St. Elmo's Fire

Hope this helps!!

happykappa 07-01-2003 01:29 PM

some other great songs for a slide show are:
the theme from Gilmore Girls
Feels Like Home (From How to Lose a GUy in 10 Days)
Bittersweet Symphony (especially as background music if someone is talking)
You've Got a Friend in Me (from Toy Story)
Cheers theme song

kkgatusc 07-01-2003 02:23 PM

:) Thanks for the Slide Show songs! If anyone else has anymore, keep 'em comin!

The song that Kappa used during Round 3 (video round) when I went through last year....made me CRY!

It was "At the Beginning" from the Anastasia Soundtrack. After the video, the girls stood around all of us sitting in neatly lined folding chairs...and sang it to us.

It says something like "...and at the end I want to be standing at the beginning with you...." It's very sweet....

Now.... I'm NOT a "happy crier"...so when the song made me cry, I knew I was going Kappa! ;)

That song is by Chantal Kreviazuk.. WONDERFUL SONG!

Oh and when our TC came this past spring, she played this song called 'Kappa Girl'.. she thought it was by John Mayer.. but we weren't quite sure. Has anyone else heard this song, and if so, who is it by?

I have heard the song! Kappa at the University of Oklahoma won some sort of Greek competition and the prize was for John Mayer to sing a song for them. Hence, the song Kappa Girl. It's cute. We use it during recruitment!

:D

Hey y'all!!!!

I just so happen to have a copy of John singing his "Kappa Song" live at OU. I'm a huge fan of his and this was actually a thread on his main message board!

If you would like it, just e-mail me or IM me and I'll send it to you!!!!

Also....in our recruitment video, we have a section of famous kappas (i.e. Ashley Judd, Jane Pauley, Kate Spade, etc...) and behind it there's a song we put behind it (I think it's called "I wanna be famous") and it goes perfectly....that section is always a big hit with the girls going through....we also sing "Sweet Home Kappa Gamma" and have one of our girls play the guitar with it...it's soft, and sweet and it's always a big clincher!!!!! If you want our words, I can send you those too!

Well wonderful Kappas, I hope recruitment is going well (or went well) for everyone...let me know if you want the song!!!!

Thanks!!!

Loyally,
Christina

And at this years prefs ceremony they sang the song "You Feel Like Home to Me..." from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. But they changed the words so it said "It feels like home to me...."

BlueEydTriton 10-16-2003 07:11 PM

Hey Girlz!!!
Im a new member of KKG and wanted to know if you guys knew of anyone cute songs to use to "serenade" some frat boys... We have a few ideas but i thought some fellow Kappas might be able to help!!
Thanx

po5mrk 01-15-2004 06:26 PM

Hey! I'm dying to have a copy of John Mayer's "Kappa Girl" song, but I've been unsuccessful at finding it on the internet...does anyone think they could send it to me (either email or in the mail, I can cover postage, cost of a cd, etc.) I would be eternally grateful!

KerriMarie 01-22-2004 03:06 PM

I wouldn't know how to send you a copy by e-mail, but I would be happy to send you a burned CD with the song by John Mayer and a few other Kappa songs if you'd like - I just made a copy so it wouldn't be a problem to burn another! Just PM me with your address!

KappagirlFU 03-17-2004 02:31 PM

Also looking for songs

I am creating a senior farewell video and would love to include some kappa songs, like Oh Pat or such. (in mp3 format if possible). Does anyone have any? Thanks.

cdd888 04-26-2004 02:20 PM

for our slide show this year we used:
the theme for sorority life
perfect day from legally blonde
i believe in miracles

and some others that were already mentioned
another good one is "a great day to be alive" by travis tritt

also, for pref night, our tc taught us a slightly different version of the john denver song "follow me". it worked so well (lots of good tears!) and sounded beautiful.

Contessima 09-20-2004 08:48 PM

sorry to crash...

The theme from Gilmore Girls is called Where You Lead or something completely obvious, but it's by Carol King who has other great songs like So Far Away which would be SO SAD during a Senior Farewell. Argh! I can't remember any others, but if you poke around some of her discography, I know you could find more great and appropiate songs. :)

Kappa Reunion

Hi - I'm a newcomer here, and love browsing through these threads! My old pledge class from '95 is having a reunion back at our old kappa house in Iowa City this summer - does anyone have any ideas? We've been away from college for a number of years, and have unfortunately forgotten many of our old songs. Does anyone remember a funny one, kinda teasing the other sororities? - We used to sing it all the time, and I can't seem to remember even part of it. It will be SO fun to have a sing along again!
Thanks!!
Dina

STL Kappa 04-01-2005 05:12 PM

Hmm, I don't wanna paste all the words on here, but does this sound familiar?!

"I'm a fleur-de-lis, I'm a fleur-de-lis, I'm a fleur-de-lis til I die, but I'd rather be a fleur-de-lis..." Sang to the tune of "Oh my darlin', oh my darlin', oh my darlin' Clementine..."

Haha... maybe it's ringing some bells?? Maybe not!!:)
