Poll: Whole Milk or Skim Milk?

What do you prefer?

1) Whole milk
2) 2% milk
3) Skim milk

I would go with 2%. Whole milk tastes like it's filled with mazola oil or something and skim milk is water.

Senusret I 03-15-2005 01:28 PM

I prefer 2% but skim milk is just as good for me.

<------ Mostly lactose intolerant, so only in small amounts.

chopperLI905 03-15-2005 01:30 PM

2% is the only way to go

jhujenn 03-15-2005 01:34 PM

Skim baby

honeychile 03-15-2005 01:36 PM

SKIM!!! Anything else is just disgusting!!

Gina1201 03-15-2005 01:38 PM

I'll be the oddball. I like whole milk.

cashmoney 03-15-2005 01:38 PM

Whole Milk.....Vitamin D is where it's at.

Same here. Whole milk is like eating your milk and skim milk is way too watery. 2% is just right.

jess_pom 03-15-2005 01:46 PM

I grew up on a dairy farm, drinking milk straight from the milk tank, I like to call it ultra-whole. But now I drink 1%. It's better for you than 2% but doesn't taste like water. My family thinks I'm weird though and make fun of me for drinking lowfat milk.

KSigkid 03-15-2005 01:51 PM

I drink skim all the time, but 2% works as well. Like Sensuret though, I have some lactose intolerance so I have to be careful.

bcdphie 03-15-2005 01:53 PM

When I was younger I drank 2% - now I drink 1%. I have never been able to drink skim milk, it's way too watery for my liking.

FAB*SpiceySpice 03-15-2005 01:59 PM

I am completely lactose intolerant :( so I have to buy stupid expensive milk or else I get incredibly sick and it's no fun. I have a hard time finding the lactose free milk or whatever in 1% so I usually end up buying 2%, they don't taste any different to me so I try to go with the lower fat one when I can.

Whole milk is just gross and skim milk is water. Gross.

TxAPhi 03-15-2005 02:00 PM

fat free skim milk! from elsie the cow....

Ehhh... whole milk is gross. Even on the rare occasion during undergrad when I craved chocolate milk, I couldn't stand it if it was made with whole milk... would be like a melted milkshake.

Grew up drinking 2%.

I generally don't drink too much milk now except for in my cereal, and use skim

Double ditto. If I can't have whole milk, I won't drink it at all. Anything else just tastes like cow pee...and I won't even talk about the grossness of putting ice in your milk.

Taualumna 03-15-2005 02:13 PM

Whole (called "homo" in Canada) milk from 1 1/2 or so (when I got out of formula) to age 3, then 2% until 13. From 13-17, it was 1% and now I drink skim.

Munchkin03 03-15-2005 02:17 PM

2% milk.

I grew up drinking whole milk, and as soon as I went off to college, I started drinking 2%. I guess we all rebel in our own ways. ;)

I think recipes that call for milk taste best with whole milk, as skim can really screw up the recipe. I do, however, really like whole milk yogurt.

You call your milk "homo"? In England they call their cigarettes "fags".

I'm giggling.

ISUKappa 03-15-2005 02:27 PM

Skim.

That's all I ever remember drinking while growing up.

KillarneyRose 03-15-2005 02:32 PM

Generally I buy 1% milk. Recently, I've started drinking soy milk in my iced coffee. Does anyone else like soy milk?

That is soooo right! Same with sweet and unsalted butter - there really IS a difference!

DeltAlum 03-15-2005 02:34 PM

2%

I love soy milk. I HATE regular milk in any form -- I've hated it ever since I was a kid. The day I discovered soy milk was a very happy day for me. I like Edensoy vanilla on cereal and a soy mocha from Starbucks is DELICIOUS.

Sister Havana 03-15-2005 02:42 PM

None of the above. I don't like to drink milk.

I like to cook with 2% though.

wrigley 03-15-2005 02:51 PM

Soy milk is my choice. Has anyone tried chocolate soy milk yet?

Chocolate soy milk is really good. :)

Silk is the best, of course, but the kind from Whole Foods, frozen just enough to make it slushy, is also very tasty.

Silk is the only one that is good. The others just taste wrong.

As far as regular milk goes, its been skim since birth for me, when I do drink milk.

Glitter650 03-15-2005 03:21 PM

1% milk for me.

Taualumna 03-15-2005 03:22 PM

Slightly sweetened, hot soy milk is yummy.

All milk is Vitamin D fortifide....read the label. :) Milk fortified with vitamin D3 contains 100 IUs per 250 ml glass. In the 1930s, rickets was a major public health problem in the United States (U.S.). A milk fortification program was implemented to combat rickets, and it nearly eliminated this disorder in the U.S.

What we are talking about is FAT content :)

It's actually soy BEVERAGE.

AGDee 03-15-2005 03:44 PM

skim, although I've also developed a lactose intolerance. I'm thinking of trying the powder or pills rather than buying the soy stuff (since there is little control if you're not eating at home anyway)

Do you work for the dairy industry?

SATX*APhi 03-15-2005 03:56 PM

Skim for me.

sugar and spice 03-15-2005 04:03 PM

SKIM.

Whole milk is disgusting. I can settle for 2% but even that is really rich to me. I grew up on skim and I've never really been able to drink anything else. Basically, if you drink only one thing for a long time, no matter what it is, everything else is going to taste weird. The same goes for diet soda versus full-sugar -- I can't even drink the full-calorie versions anymore because I've gotten so used to the diet flavor.

texas*princess 03-15-2005 04:06 PM

2% milk

Skim milk is entirely too watery.

AznSAE 03-15-2005 04:14 PM

if i do get milk, its the 2%.

You mean they don't actually squeeze the little tiny udders on the soybeans to get it?

I use the pills. They work well.
