Favorite cosmetics?

What cosmetic can you not live without?

me: Aveda Self Control styling stick...awesome hair wax/pomade. It is well worth the expense.

Brown mascara...far superior to black, looks more natural.

AChiOAlumna 03-14-2005 09:58 PM

I love Benefit's Dr Feelgood's facial wax...I've have SO much clearer skin since using it as it protects my fact from the rest of the makeup I put on...It's made by Sephora (www.sephora.com).

honeychile 03-14-2005 10:30 PM

Max Factor's 2000 calorie Aqualash mascara, in either auburn or brownish-black. I have great eyelashes, but they're BLONDE!!!!

Actually Benefit is a totally seperate company from Sephora. Sephora has their own brand of makeup but also sells other high end brands of makeup, which is why it's my most favorite place in the entire world.

As for me I absolutely can not live without TheBalm concealer, Smashbox black Focal point mascara, and MAC pro longwear lip color in Commitment (excellent for going out it never comes off!).

I am a huge makeup junkie :D

Susan_Renee 03-14-2005 10:57 PM

physicians formula makeup. the greatest. oh, and dove. gotta love the dove products.

I'm a makeup junkie, too, but I also can't really bring myself to buy the department-store stuff anymore, so I'm a big fan of the drugstores. You can really find some good stuff there, although nothing still beats my BeneFit Show-Offs in Ruby-Doo...it's just so pretty on your eyelids.

norcalchick 03-15-2005 01:24 AM

I have a ton of MAC stuff. lol

my fave would have to be shroom eyeshadow and pro loong lash mascara

Dionysus 03-15-2005 01:49 AM

I love my MAC. :)

nucutiepie 03-15-2005 03:06 AM

MAC FiberLash Mascara in Black (this stuff is AMAZING... I get compliments on my eyelashes when i wear it!)

NARS orgasm blush and now lip gloss (such a flattering color on so many people... and it lasts FOREVER, i use the blush daily and one thing lasts me like a year because the color is so concentrated!)

Origins A Perfect World White Tea Skin Guardian, Make a Difference repair stuff, Eye Doctor Eye Cream and Balanced Diet moisturizer (I get REALLY dry skin in the winter)

Cetaphil Face Wash... so cheap, and so good for my skin

Shu Uemara eyelash curler

MAC Cream Shadow in Hush

I spent a year abroad... these, black eyeliner, and concealer were literally the only cosmetics i brought/used, and I didn't suffer at all!

I TOTALLY agree!

I also like Rimmel's Extreme Definition mascara in black

Stila's Lipglaze in berry

agdbirmingham 03-15-2005 09:52 AM

Has anyone tried Arbonne's skincare or cosmetics? (They sell it through consultants like Mary Kay, Avon...) I started using it a few weeks ago and have been happy with it so far.

_Opi_ 03-15-2005 02:05 PM

MAC studio NC50 ...That's about the only thing that's consistent in my makeup.

I also use MAC lusterglass in Little VI..very nice lip gloss..

I use basic black eyeliner..any brand will do...

Once in a blue moon, I will use mascara, but I don't need it cuz I have nice long lashes (or so I've been told)

Munchkin03 03-15-2005 02:20 PM

MAC all the way.

I use the Clinique moisturizer for my face because it gets really dry. Other than that, it's all MAC all the time. :)

mu_agd 03-15-2005 02:25 PM

Pretty much anything by Laura Mercier. Occasionally I'll get something from Bobbi Brown or Mac, but everything else is from Laura.

Sister Havana 03-15-2005 02:49 PM

I love Avon stuff! :)

I recently got a Hard Candy "lunchbox" with a whole bunch of different things in it from Sephora. Great stuff and the price was right. :)

valkyrie 03-15-2005 02:52 PM

Bobbi Brown shimmerbricks are the shit. I just got the beige one and I love it -- it's great on cheeks and eyes.

Glitter650 03-15-2005 03:16 PM

I use mainly MAC and Benefit. I Love my aquadisiac eyeshadow such a cool color.

Jill1228 03-15-2005 07:25 PM

What she said! I am a MAC Momma!
Mr. 1228 knows what gifts to give me: A GC to Lush or a trip to the MAC counter.

Also ditto to Munchkin

I am not very loyal.

I have never met a cosmetic that I didn't like. Maybe a color or something though

I don't discriminate either...I buy it all...Drugstore kinds, expensive kinds, Sephora, the dollar store lipgloss...you name it.

If I could only have 10 things on a deserted island:
(I couldn't narrow it to 3 or even 5)

1. Clinique perfectly real makeup
2.Lancome dual finish powder
3. Revlon skinlights concealer
4. Elizabeth arden creme shadow (Beach girl)
5. Estee Lauder lipgloss (praline)
6 Revlon wet/dry eyeliner
7. L'oeral Voluminous mascara
8. Rimmel all over pencil (faith)
9. Mac blush in Revenge (discontinued  )
10. Lancome eyeshadow (bronze)

And that doesn't even count my skincare.

Has anyone ever used the Olay Regenerist Serums? Are they comparable to lancome Sensation Totale and Estee lauder Idealist?

AngelGal34 03-16-2005 05:59 AM

I can't live with out MAC. Especially my lipglass in love child.

Unregistered- 03-16-2005 06:25 AM

I could never stand MAC lip gloss. They always dry my lips and I hate it.

The only thing constant in my makeup bag is my MAC Studio NC43.

I am not discriminate when it comes to makeup. In my experience, the el cheapo stuff has worked/looked better than some of the high end name brand shit some of you guys mentioned.

aephi alum 03-16-2005 10:37 AM

I have absolutely no brand loyalty when it comes to cosmetics. I buy what looks good and lasts.

I use the Clinique 3-step skin care system - actually I use only the first two steps, because moisturizer does my skin more harm than good.

Most days, I just throw on some lipgloss (Prescriptives or Revlon) and run out the door.

When I do feel like wearing full makeup:
- Neutrogena or MAC foundation (I like Neutrogena because it's SPF 20)
- Eyeshadow: Estee Lauder, MAC, or Clinique
- Lipstick: I have these "mood matcher" lipsticks (please don't laugh!) They supposedly turn different shades of red or pink depending on your mood  I like them because they stay on FOREVER. A perfect example of good makeup you'll only find in a drugstore.

I could live without any of that stuff if I had to... but don't take away my lipgloss :)

hottytoddy 03-17-2005 05:06 AM

No one has tried the Olay Regenerist Serum or the L'Oreal one? I can't remember the name?

I was wondering if they are compareable to Estee Lauder Idealist or Lancome Sensation Totale.

Honeykiss1974 03-17-2005 09:48 AM

I'm a Lancome lady myself. :)

Although my latest passion are these lip glosses that smell/taste like candies, such Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Sugar Daddies, Hershey's chocolcate, etc. :D

Kisses are so much sweeter.

BetteDavisEyes 03-17-2005 11:30 AM

I have no brand loyalty but recently, I can't get along without my Oil of Olay moisturizer. It provides just the right amount of help for my face. Girls make fun of me b/c they say it's old lady moisturizer but my skin looks good (except during that time of the month ;) ) so I'm happy.

I also loooove my Neutrogena clear lip gloss. I put it on over any lipstick & it looks amazing.

If you go to Olay's website, you can get a free sample.

I LOVE Lancome's Sensation Totale. It's just so freakin' expensive!

TxAPhi 03-17-2005 02:15 PM

Ever since a trip to the Sephora in Times Square back in 1999, I have been pretty loyal to benefit products although I buy most of the products online now since I know which ones I like and they send lots of free samples when they ship your order; and if you sign up for emails, you get lots of special offers.

benefit products I use more regularly:

BAD gal Lash
F.Y... Eye (eye shadow base - keeps the shadow on longer)
ohh la lift (under eye depuffer)
lip plump
play sticks (foundation)
it stick (concealer)
high beam (with the foundation, gives a glow)
glamourette (a powder, blush, lipstick combo)

I also like l'oreal double extend mascara, almay clear complexion powders, and vincent longo lip palettes.

winnieb 03-17-2005 02:51 PM

I use Clinique-- but I wear very little makeup anyway-- always wear mascara and liner-- but i never wear foundation, there was never a need.
My one true addition is Bonnie Bell Lipsmackers. I can't go without it--- I feel like I am 12yrs old when I buy it-- but it keeps my lips soft and shiney!!

Yeah I have used that but I personally like the Estee Lauder one (Idealist)...it's freakin expensive too...so i was trying to see if the drugstore kinds were any good. I will definitely be visiting the Olay website.

I haven't tried the Idealist yet. The only reason I got hooked on Sensation Totale was b/c there was a sample size of it included in one of their GWP promotions.

It's almost time for a repurchase -- maybe I'll hop over to Estee Lauder since they're doing the GWP right now and try something new.

I am completely in love with my Bare Escentuals stuff. It's called Bare Minerals. I didn't used to wear makeup but it's so light!

Does anyone else use it?

Sister Havana 03-18-2005 07:33 PM

My foolproof lipcolor is Avon Beyond Color Lipstick in Sienna. That color really should not work for me but it does.

SapphireSphinx9 03-18-2005 07:48 PM

Since I'm an AVON Rep. that's all I wear! :D

I can't go with out at least a little foundation, eyeshadow and mascara. And I love eyeliner, but never have enough time in the morning to wear it to work - so I pretty much only put it on when I go out.

WCUgirl 03-18-2005 09:00 PM

Speaking of Avon...I used to spend more than I was really comfortable admitting on lip gloss, but then I discovered Avon's Glazewear. I love that stuff! You can purchase 3 of them for $10 on their website. :)

I have used it...and I liked it ok...it dried my face out a lot though...so I can only use it in the summer.

norcalchick 03-19-2005 12:51 AM

I just bought a bunch of stuff from MAC today:
-the new moistureblend foundation
-5 eyesahdows: sushi flower, trax, nocturnelle, meadowland, shimmermoss.
-i got a MAC eyeshadow palette on ebay. It has a greyish color, yellow, light green, light sage green color.

AOII*Azra-elle 03-19-2005 04:51 PM

I have tons of Tigi Bedhead stuff. I really like their eyeshadows and eyeliner. I have recently gotten into Bare Minerals. They have a store in Denver and I love their stuff. It's a little expensive, but it is definately worth the price.
