Poster banned in France and Italy
|
That is SO INCREDIBLY wrong. I am not surprised it's being banned.
|
i personally don't see anything wrong about it.
|
That was the must-have brand of clothes in my middle school. we were cool.

It's pretty cool, actually.

I see how people are offended by it, but I also don't think it's worthy of being banned.
On a side note, I think it's funny that the article said the creators of the ad were inspired by a Dan Brown book. |
I actually think it is kinda of brilliant and also a very calming image.
I see nothing wrong with it |
Like Collin, I can see how people would be offended, but I don't think that's justification for it to be banned. My "innermost beliefs" are intruded upon everytime I have to use money that says "In God We Trust" on it, but that doesn't mean I'm trying to get that banned.
At any rate, the banning of their ad will probably bring more attention to them than the ad itself would have, so the company is probably loving this. |
If it's offensive to anyone, it would be Da Vinci, not Catholicism. He should sue.
|
OK, now I'm probably going to Hell -- or at least Greek Hell.
I thought this was a Panhel council meeting. Just kidding. I don't think it should be banned either. |

My mama, a devout Catholic who usually finds most things sacreligious...even she thought it was a great piece.
She even went to say that she thought they would have had a prettier Jesus Christ. :p |

If the Last Supper had been created by Jesus, that would be one thing.
Instead, it's an artist's rendering of a supposed event that happened like 2000 years ago whose creation would've been nearly 1500 years after the event. |

Oh, just cover your virgin eyes or look away....this wouldn't be newsworthy if they didn't make such a fuss. |
Leave it up. If it offends you, don't buy their clothing. Personally, I wouldn't - but that's my perogative.
In many parts of Europe, full frontal nudity isn't just accepted, it's the norm. |

It's an imitation of a painting, ace - which wasn't done by God (unless you're way into Leonardo). The MLK thing is blatant prejudism. |
There was also a representation of the Last Supper in the movie version of M*A*S*H.
Link So this is really nothing new - kind of derivative of whoever made the poster actually. There have been lots of other "recreations" of DaVinci's Last Supper. |

Now THAT was the funniest thing i read all day. |
It took me a while looking at it to figure out what was "offensive" about it.
Yeah, I'm slow, but I'm old.:p |

Heh. Between this and the skater thing, you're on fire today, buddy. |
I played Dr. King in a play once.
Dali also did his own version of the last super. Italia=gov't changes entirely every four years or so, so not a big deal. Really, at all. l'Republique [i guess thats right. I can't spell in english or german, my spelling in French is right out] well, seriously its not my government so I won't say anything, although I believe their Head of State and their Head of Government are two different people. |
It should be banned because it promotes eating disorders and negative self-images.
-- that was the line of reasoning these countries used, I'm sure. |
