Chapter/Association Anniversaries

Any collegiate chapters (or alumnae associations) celebrating anniversaries this year? If so, do you have a big celebration planned.

My chapter is celebrating its 25th! Unfortunately, I live too far away to attend our celebration. :( I am not sure what they have planned, but I hope it is a blast!

The Denver Alumnae Association is celebrating 85 years this year!!

In 2004, Alpha Alpha Chapter celebrated its 90th Anniversary! It was chartered at the University of Colorado-Boulder, but is no longer active. We recognized chapter members at Founder's Day last year and had several women attend who were in their 70's!

I received an invitation from the Alpha Epsilon chapter:

Dear Sisters,

In 1915, Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi was chartered at the University of Nebraska. During the depression, Alpha Epsilon was forced to close, but emerged strong in the early 1960’s and received her re-colonization charter on March 30, 1963. We have gone from a large chapter to a somewhat smaller chapter, but never have we lost the spirit and vision of Alpha Delta Pi. We are celebrating 90 years of sisterhood on the Nebraska campus on Saturday, April 16...

You should go and support AE if possible...they are a very small chapter...but they have some really sweet girls!! They drove from Nebraska all the way to Michigan for DLC!!

scho5148 03-10-2005 06:05 PM

I would love to go, but just can't make it up there.

Actually, before they were reassigned to a new district, the Denver Alums adopted that chapter. They didn't have much Alum support at the time. Now the chapter and AA is growing successfully.

Also, about 2.5 yrs ago I went up to the chapter to facilitate a recruitment workshop in place of one of the International Officers. It was great.

I know they were very determined to get to DLC. I bought a gas card for them to help out, b/c they were going to have to pay for gas out of their own pockets.

I am so proud of them!

AE

scho5148,

I am an alumna of AE and haven't heard much from them lately...and I'm wondering if you have any "news" from them.

Please email me, rather than post it here for the world to read....

Thanks

Epsilon Pi, at Georgia Southern, is 38 years old this year, so in two years we will have a big 40 celebration~ My sister was in the very first pledge class after colonization, in 1968, and I pledged in 1971-and some of the founding sisters were still there as Seniors! What began as an extremely strong chapter is continuing on...

Update: I was able to attend Zeta Phi's Anniversary Luncheon back in November 2005. I traveled the farthest to atttend, that's for sure. It was a nice little luncheon held at a local country club. It was great because a few of the founding chapter members were there and were able to participate in the 25-year anniversary ceremony. Also of special note was that I received an award for outstanding alumna service (or something like that - the award is tucked away for now)!

Congratulations... Always good to see sisters being recognized for the good things they do.

Having just returned from VLS I was ecstatic to find out that the big Poobahs will be attending. I was also happy to learn that there is even a manual available for planning such events. Who knew?

Unfortunately I also returned to find an email from the Chair of the planning committee with some projected costs. Yikes! We've been setting money aside for a few years now but I'm worried it won't be enough. We'll make it work somehow and it will be beautiful.

polarpi 06-20-2006 11:21 PM

Zillini - I'm sure I saw you there, but I wish I would've been certain to see you - I have to post a picture that ADPiAkron and I took during the Macon pilgrimage on Saturday soon! :)

Zillini 06-21-2006 07:41 AM

I'm glad you went to Macon. We are planning a Chapter trip and I wanted to go with them. I opted out of any trips and hung around the hotel. I actually took a nap which in hindsight was a great call. Every year I come home from VLS/Convention or DLC sick as a dog from lack of sleep. Then Hubby isn't too happy because it's almost like I'm gone for 2 weeks. Not this year though.

One of these times I'll be on the ball and try to get in on one of the GC meetups. I screwed up at Convention too. What "track" were you on? I was in P.

polarpi 06-21-2006 04:11 PM

Me too! We MUST have seen each other at some point :)

Zillini 06-21-2006 05:24 PM

I liked how they divided folks up based on the Marketing Assessment. Usually it's been based on either Chapter size or campus size. This way it really helped us all to focus on our common strengths and weaknesses regardless of all that.
