I got to dance this year, and I'm so glad that I did. My feet are so swollen, but I'm glad I got a chance to dance my last semester at PSU. I had so much fun, and it was awesome that we raised so much.

Congratulations to all!!!!

4.1 million for the kids

Wow! Amazing!!!! I hear about schools around Philadelphia holding fundraisers that bring in $9,000 or $10,000, and it makes the local news.

But $4.1 million!!!

Great job BlueGBI and SOPijawbreaker!!! I never had any desire to dance (I'm way too wimpy, and it's not easy, as SOPiJawbreaker can attest), but did do my share of canning and collecting.

Damn, this should get more publicity, both for Penn State and for the image of GLOs. So far today I heard nothing on the local TV or radio news, and we're in the same state as PSU.

PSUSigKap 02-21-2005 02:57 PM

Apparently it made the front page of the Philadelphia Inquirer. I'm not betting on the news making it out here to Colorado though. :(

I checked Google news a little while ago and saw that too. What a great write-up!!!

It brought tears to my eyes.

I sent an email to the writer thanking him for writing it. It encapsulated what THON is all about. This is the first time I ever seen anything about THON in one of the Philly papers so this makes me doubly happy since I'm from Philly.

And you were there, blueGBI!!!!!

Oh yeah. I can't wait for THON 2006 even though that will be my last year @ PSU. I really want to be a captain for 2k6 or I'll dance.

Well, canning's not exactly easy...standing out in the cold for hours...that's definitely not wimpy.

Also, PSUSigKap, thanks for posting that link. That article brought a tear to my eye too.

Well, if it's any consolation, WHYY/WRTI (Phila NPR station and the Temple University's radio station) did a nice piece on it this afternoon. They interviewed a doc at Hershey, who explained all the good the monies do for the families - and how many additional families will be helped because of the successful outcome this year.

You guys should be really proud of yourselves!

PSU sorority rush

I'm currently a sophomore @ Penn State and will be a junior next fall but planning on rushing for sororities at my school. In my first yr, I didn't know much about the greek community here and had a very strong opinion against the whole idea. I rushed for fun this spring and came to realize what I've been missing in my college career. Although I got a bid from two wonderful sororities this spring, I've declined the bid because not every sorority at my school participated and I wanted to check them all out.
Though, It'll be my 3rd yr next fall, I have to be in school for an extra year due to my major (architechture engineering). Would you guys recommend me to rush as a sophomore (since I have 3 more yrs to go anyways)? what are some suggestions and advices for rushing as an upperclassman?? At my school, about 90% of the fall formal rushees are freshmen and I really don't feel comfortable rushing with them
I'd really appreciate honest comments! Thanks!

Kelly

Princetonian weighs in on THON

I thought this was a good article from an outsider about THON>

The article in the Inquirer was really complimentary of PSU and THON, so congrats to you all on a great event that gets you noticed for the good you do.

One question...as someone who lives in the burbs of Philly, and who has a few PSU branches around, do students at those campuses raise money for THON? I always see Penn State students out canning on local roads on the weekends, and I always wonder if it's for THON.

shadokat 03-03-2005 04:14 PM

Penn State Delaware County is who gets me every weekend :) But I'm happy to donate! That's awesome!!
