Brag about your family tree.
In this thread, we will brag about the accomplishments of our littles/bigs and the proliferation of our family trees.
My big is an amazing piano player and is probably going to become a concert pianist. My little, while a smarmy pledge, is smart and knows her info. |
Blonde Tree
I'm new to the board, but when I saw this I just had to respond! In my family tree my big 2nd was the president of the sorority. Also, she was the pledge mom of the new member class that my own pledge mom just so happened to be in! My Big to the 4th was the advisor of my chapter for a while, and my big to the 5th was an assistant advisor to my chapter. My lil is a legacy, her two older sisters and mother were in the sorority. I always get teased because I'm so pressed over my family tree but I can't help it, I love my girls!!
|
I'm part of the largest family in the chapter. My Grandbig is awesome. She's served on Exec. for 3 years and lived in the chapter house the entire time. She's held Treasurer, Membership Recruitment Director, and is now serving as VP. To me, she is what a Sigma should be. Whenever I'm having any problems, she's right there for me, and I love her. My big is also fantastic! She's on Exec now as our current Membership Recruitment Director. She's been there for me since day one in the chapter and I'm convinced that I wouldn't be the sister I am today without her to guide me. As MRD, she's completely revamped our informal recruitment strategy and we're now doing EXCELLENT in that area. Even though she has 2 other littles (my twin and triplet), she still makes time for ALL of us. I don't have a little yet, but I'm hoping for one with our newest class. When I do get one I'm sure she'll be as awesome as the rest of my families. . |
My pledge grand father was the honor pledge of his pledge class.
My pledge dad graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering in only 4 years...w/o taking summer classes or having any college credit in HS. I got 34 on both the ACT and the MCAT, and will be going to med school at either Nebraska or Kansas. My pledge son also got a 34 on his ACT, gets his school paid for, and knows way more about computers than is probably safe. The kid also is invinceable when it comes to alcohol, as the BAC estimator cards the university gave us say he can have more than 18 drinks in a single hour before reaching "the red zone" (BAC of over .2) My pledge grandson was named honor pledge of his pledge class in a nearly unaimous (sp?) decision by the chapter. He's also pre-med, and has a much better freshman GPA than I had. He is also going out with one of the coolest girls I've ever met (for a freshman). |
In APO
My family tree is awesome: My grandbig is a Chemical Engineer and works for a cosmetic company! Since I'm the only girl on my tree I love getting all the free makeup and hair dye he brings home! My big graduated with a Computer Science Major. He now programs for a large investment company in NYC. While he was an undergrad he held the record of most service hours done as a member. His record still stands. My little is two years older than me. He graduated as an Electrical Engineer. He works for J&J. He's in a rotating program so he gets to relocate to a new area every few months. Boy do I miss him when he's gone. But he always sends me postcards and stuff so that makes it easier. He's the best little I could ever ask for! My grandlittle is the only one on my family who's still here with me. He's a bit crazy but we have an awesome time together. In D Phi E My big in a Mechanical Engineer who is in the Air Force. She works building war planes in OK. Looks like she may be put in the combat zone soon if the war continues, but she doesn't seem to mind. She's my hero. My little is one smart cookie. She's going to graduate in 4 years with both a bachelor's and a masters! She puts me to shame in the acedimic dept, but I'm so proud of her. |
My big sister, little sister #1, and myself all work in the space program. My big sister works with me at KSC in Orbiter Structures, and I work in Thermal Protection System (tile). Little sister #1 got a job in Houston at JSC working in Mission Control in the MMACS division (if something moves on the orbiter, they're in charge of it).
Little sister #2 is super smart and started taking college classes at the University of Texas (can't remember which campus) when she was 16. She's going to graduate with a double major in Marine Bio and Applied Mathematics in only 3 years. We're the coolest part of the family tree. ;) |
I like this thread !!
Ok in general, my family has never had anyone disaffiliate from the chapter. Everyone in the family is is in good standing with the chapter, pays their dues on time, arrives on time for events, and does what they say they are going to do. I also think my family tree is cool because my big sis was a transfer, so our tree goes back to another chapter, and we can trace our family tree all the way back to the founders of that chapter. The rest of our chapter can't really do that because of people leaving school, or the chapter, and poor records. My big's second lil is now archon of our chapter as of Monday! My lil is Sister Development Chair (what most orgs call VP New member ed, or something like that) My lil Sis #2 is a fashion merchandising major, and is REALLY good, you all will WANT her clothing in a few years, and she is designing my sapphire ball dress this year. for the past three years (since I won) a new member from my family always gets the new member of the year award. |
My family has had 3 chapter presidents. We are small, but we all take on large positions and excel at them. My great grand sis graduated in 4 years with a biology major but decided to go into event planning and is currently the operations manager at her firm. My grand lil sis got a job in her field (PR/Coms) right out of college. Most of my family is still in school. My great great grand lil wants to study stem cells and cure Alzheimer's. My other great grand lil is a graphic designer who is VERY creative and sews, scrapbooks, and so forth. Totally the next Martha Stewart.

The cross family tree - las presidentes
My great great big sis (an alumna) is an Alpha Sigma Tau National Staff member (and so sweet and generous). She is also a past president of the colony.
My great big sis has also been president. She is so fun! She is very trustworthy, has a big heart, and is great with animals. My big sis is one of my best friends. She is a great person and friend and very insightful. She is a great listener, and very smart with science, math, money, and sewing. My little sis is the current colony president. She has amazing organizational and leadership skills, and she is a great craft painter. My great little sis is a real sweetheart. She is funloving and kindhearted and also very smart (she is on sophomore standing in biology while in her first year). My family is all creative and artsy crafty (and big Beatles fans). ;) |
Great thread--
Okay, my little sister is AMAZING! She is such a cool person--teaches kidnergarteners in an at risk school and is so good at it. She is also someone that I am just lucky to have as a friend, let alone as my little sister My grandlittle got a degree in envioremental science and is now in California, working with the redwood forest preservation. She is cool as hell and smarter than almost anyone I know I was a political science major, so I think its funny that three of us could be so different but be so close, at the same time. I truly adore my family--they mean more to me than almost anything! |
My Big holds a high position in administration at a public university. My Lil is currently working on her doctorate. I'm very proud of each of them! :)
|
I never had a big or little.:( We never did Big or Little while I was in College!:(
Man did I miss a lot!:( Of course, if You read My Sig. I Fathered All!:) Still envolved 40 Years Later!!!!!!!! Oh, just remembered: CEO of a Large Building Co. CFO, of a Reclamation Comp. Advisor of UNLV Zeta and Head of Human Resources of Las Vega, Library System. Mayor of a City in Ks. District Court Judge, Nev. CPA of a Large Moving Van Comp. President of Gilkey Automotive Comp. of Barton Co., Mo. Director of PSU Extension Center of KC. Pres. Construction in Ks. Several CFOs of Banking Inst. Head of School Districts=3, 1 Ks. 2 Alaska. Pres. of a Water District. Oh, Boring! :( Just Bragging! More but not going to list them!!!! |
My family is the biggest in the chapter. My Big is the current President of the sorority. My Grandbig is the Vice-President. I was a former Foundation Chair. The founder of our family was a former Vice-President. My twin is the New Member Educator. My two other siblings are the Secretary and the Social Chair. The Panhellenic Delegate is also in my family. The Vice-President of Scholarship is in my family. Our Vice-President of Alumnae Relations is in my family. Come to think of it, of the 9 positions on our council, 7 are from my family tree alone!!! Those that have left the chapter are now doing well in their chosen paths. From being at Harvard for Med School (YAY!) to being a kindergarten teacher, these women sure have raised the bar for quality.
As for my lil, she's still new but is trying to find her way by helping everyone out & has lots of enthusiasm. I have high expectations for her. I am graduating this May w/a Bachelors in English and another in Speech Communications. I hope to enter grad school this Fall for my Masters in English.:D |
We have family names, and mine is "The Dynasty", lol. We are the oldest family in our chapter and a pretty big one too. I am a legacy, and though I do not hold an office at the moment, I have big goals.
My Big is our current Personal Development officer and is doing things with it that have not been done in a long time....she is awesome. She is the "fireball" of the chapter and my absolute best friend! We spend 2-5 hours together most days. My Grand-Big is not too active in the chapter this year, as her father has cancer and she just got engaged three weeks ago to a Kappa Sigma! My GGB just graduated in December and got married in July. She is about to become a teacher. She was one of the best presidents we have ever had and served several EC offices. I do not have a little yet, but I will have one next fall, along with a twin! |
we all kick ass, that's pretty much all you need to know about it, but since bragging is allowed in this thread
my twin brother was IFC president more later |
Since we're a new chapter, I'm at the top of my family tree :). There are 80 girls in the founding class; 40 juniors/seniors and 40 sophomores. The juniors/seniors are at the top of the family tree, and the sophomores are our littles, and the current new members (the Alpha class) are our grand-littles.
That being said, my little videotapes all of the women's home basketball games. She is also Vice President of her Hillel chapter, and we have become great friends through Tri Delta. My grand-little is also named Sam, so we call her Sam Jr. As a freshman, she is already heavily involved on campus. She's in College Republicans, Intervarsity, a Leadership Fellow, and was a band nerd in high school (just like me). She was drum major in high school and I was drum major at Elon for the past three years, so we have a lot in common. I see great leadership potential from both my little and my grand little in our newly founded chapter. |
My grand big was president of my chapter and panhel president and greek woman of the year.
My big was also president of my chapter (and an amazing one at that) and after she graduates this year she is going to do engineering work for the government! My little is our panhel rep and president of her dorm. she wants to continue with leadership by possibly taking on a large panhel position or another chapter council position in the next few years. I just got another little last night, but our revealings aren't till march, so i can't say much except she is awesome, too! my family is small, but i love them so much! most people say we are the over achievers, haha. |
My great great grand big was VP the year before I pledged, and the secatary the year that I pledged. My great grand big is still talked about today as one of the hardest, most feared NME around, and she was VP the year that I was a NM. My big is treasure, and my little is currently secatary.
|
My great grand big is still talked about often in our chapter, and she's now PREGNANT! And I mean HUGELY pregnant. I met her finally this summer at another baby shower for a recent alumn.
my family tree is the biggest in the sorority. I really need to meet the original branch, my refounding sister that I go back to. |
My grand big sis is VP of a bank in Nashville, TN and she was on TN's most successful under 40 list last year. My big sis went on to law school at LSU after she graduated from Ole Miss and she is married to an attorney and has two little boys! I have four little sis's. My first little sis was recruitment chair and then she went on to get her BA from Ole Miss and she is married to her college sweetheart with 3 children. My second little sister attends Loyola Law School in New Orleans and she is married as well and lives in NOLA. My third little sister is getting her Masters at UCF and she is doing great. My fourth little sister is back home working and she graduated last year from Ole Miss. My real little sister (like my sibling) is my grand-little and she is in France studying abroad. Another one of my grand-littles is married and working on becoming a Physical Therapist!
|
My family was known for being the President line of our chapter :)
My great grandbig was President of the chapter when I was a new member. My grandbig was Membership VP during that time too. I followed directly in the footsteps of my big (to much teasing from my sisters!). We both were Financial VP during our Junior year and President during our Senior year. My little was a legacy--and the biological sister of my great grandbig! Right now, my big is the President of her alumnae association and an elementary school teacher, I am a national volunteer and also an elementary school teacher, and my little has since transferred and is a Junior business major at her new college! :D |
When my awesome big sister graduated she appeared in several music videos (or, as she called herself, was a "video bimbo") then joined the touring company of the musical "A Chorus Line". She was then was "promoted" to the Broadway show where she was part of the cast when the show closed in 1990 (note: I don't think her joining the cast had anything to do with the show's demise).
She's married to a corporate-type dude now and they live outside of NYC where she owns a dance school and is raising four adorable legacies :) My little sister went to Northwestern for law school after she graduated and now works in trusts and estates for some firm in Chicago. Also, she recently bought a condo on a place called Michigan Avenue which is apparently a really chi-chi area of town and claims that Oprah lives nearby (which may or may not be true) Either way, she's super career chick and I'm very proud of her! |
My family tree is an elm tree. Gosh I love that tree.
-Rudey --Laugh at my corny joke damn it! |

A one bedroom on the "nicer" section of Michigan avenue in a "nicer" building costs around 200-250K. Also, Oprah has a place on lakeshore, but she hardly stays in it. A studio in that same building starts at $850 rent a month. -Rudey |
Wow. I never knew Chicago real estate was so reasonable!
|
My big sister went to medical school in Alabama and is a doctor in New York.
My little sister went to UT Law and is an ADA in San Antonio. My big was the VP of Program Development, my little was VP Chapter Operations, and I was VP Recruitment. |
My sister mother is at UGA Law and held several offices in our chapter.
I have two twins- One is at Pharmacy school and the other is going to Miss Georgia in June! I have a neice- she has won three pageants this year! She is participating in a Miss Georgia Preliminary this weekend. I have two sister daughters- One has already been VP Programming for Panhellenic and now has my old office in Alpha Gam- VP Campus Relations. My other baby squirrel has done pageants and is the new Personal Development Coordinator. She wants to work for the FBI when she graduates. I love my family! |
My big is a founder of our chapter. She works for a non-profit in Washington, DC.
My first little is incredible. She transferred to UGA after one semester, but we were really close that semester. We don't get to talk/see each other a lot, but I love her lots. She's majoring in interoir design/fashion. My second little is a sophomore still. She's a lot of fun to party with, and I think she still hasn't chosen a major :p She's a lot like me, but quieter, and she started off as my carnation sister and mystagee. My "aunt" (Big's twin) is in Ohio now. We have lots of fun having random IM conversations and really bonded over a guy she was dating whom we now think is gay. My "cousin" is one of my good friends who was the director on the campus news show of which I was the producer. She now lives the glamorous life in London, doing odd jobs but having the time of her life. She used to live in Hershey, PA :) She could smell the chocolate factory from her school. Her two littles are great. One was my college roommate for 3 years and now is getting her Master's in theology from St. Andrew's in Scotland. Her little and grandlittle I don't know too well. The other is a senior and is a lot of fun. I don't know her that well, though :( We have one of the biggest family trees in our chapter because both of the sisters at the top were sophomores when we founded and had at least one little. My family is great :) |
Its a tradition in my family that bigs and little match up one-and-one in big/little ranking. We decide bigs and littles from ranking lists, much like formal recruitment. Also, I broke the series of blondes in family tree and started a brunette branch!
My big big big was the reason I joined my sorority - she got me during recruitment! She works with little ones in a nursey school right now. My big was the warmest sister - I decided I wanted her to be my big at our first mixer, the night after Bid Night. She had the biggest smile, and luckily for this world, she became a nurse! My twin came into the family the semester after me and she was also a nursing student. She works in a hospital in Tampa Bay right now. She lived right next door to me the semester she rushed and joined and I loved her to pieces - she was like a mom to whomever needed some support! Florida was lucky to have her in their hospitals after their hurricanes - she gave her time to rescue reliefs and stayed in a hotel and hospital while structual repairs were made to her home. I have two littles - and we matched up one-and-one both times. I 'dirty littled' both of them - they were popular choices for littles in my chapter and I wanted both in my family tree. Karen was my roommate my senior year and Shaunna (another blonde!) became our chapter's President this last year. Karen had been our Member-at-Large. Both littles are different people - but both make time for people who need help and an ear to listen. I have two little littles and 1 little little little - and I haven't met any of them! My job has been crazy this last year though I'm putting more limits on how much time I give it. So I'll visit in April and reconnect with a few alums from my chapter (who I can't wait to see!) and meet these little littles and probably spoil them all. Not that it really matters, but our family mascot is the butterfly! |
I'm so excited, I'm going out with my tree in a few minutes to buy our family letters! Now there are 8 members in my immediate family tree :)
|
My big sister- was a founding sister of my chapter, and is awesome. She is still a big kid at heat, lol. She got married this past summer and is now working as a nanny.
My 1st little sister- is amazing. She has really turned our chapter around. She is currently the president of the sorority and is doing an amazing job. I love her to death and am so glad that she joined AST. She really is an amazing person and I am constantly in awe of her and how much she takes on to ensure that our chapter will not fail and that we will be around for years to come. My 2nd little sister- is an founding sister of the Epsilon Delta colony of AST. Although, I have never met her, she is very sweet and is excited about being in AST. She is "branching" out of her comfort zone to meet people and I am so proud of her, b/c I know how hard that can be. My grand-little- I met her for the first time last weekend and she is so funny and definetely fits in the family. She is currently the recruitement chair and has some amazing ideas for recruitement. She is dedicated, yet a lot of fun. I love my family. Its amazing to see the family tree grow and grow. |
I have the best family!
My big is the current president of our chapter, epsilon delta. She also a nursing major and keeps straight As. She amazes me. She is able to keep such good grades in a very hard and demanding major, she is in a commited relationship, and she is so active and a very strong leader in phi mu. My little is just as amazing. She is very active in phi mu. She is in the band, a very talented trumpet player, and she has one of the most beautiful singing voices I've ever heard. She is the sweetest person and always has a smile on her face. She is always there for her sisters. |
My family has always been the execs.
Three Presidents in a row. Two vice Presidents in a row and two treasurers in a row. Not bad considering my family rarely takes more than one little bro. |
Continuing to brag about this tree!!
Quote:
OK, well Dphies00 is MY Big, so I'll just continue the brag with the most recent members! Well, before I get to them, lets talk about my amazing BIG Laura! She was the final deciding factor to me signing that bid on bid night and I knew from Pref Night (even before I knew I HAD a bid) that she was going to be my big sis. Laura was always an integral sister in our chapter and had more passion for the sisterhood than anyone else. As VPRecruitment, she almost single handedly turned everything around for our chapter concerning rush. This wasnt easy for her and like she said, we roomed together her senior year, my sophomore year, and she gave up tons of sleep for DPhiE. She was also the life of the party and is still known for making her rounds during parties ("I'm gonna go take a walk!!") I miss her :-( My little Rayna is my one and only lil, and the only one I'll ever take, I'm sure. We have such a unique relationship, where we are simultaneously best friends but I also have a huge protector role over her. I seriously do anything and everything I can for her like she was my child or something haha. She's the nicest, most intelligent, and ridiculously funny person I know. If we had an class clown type award, it would definitely go to my little every semester. So if Rayna is my child, then her little Alexandra, my little-little, would be my grandchild. And yeah, I act like that to her too. I'm such a doting grandbig, I spent almost as much on her as I did on Rayna's Big/Lil night. Alex is super involved on campus and is one of those people that everyone knows somehow. She takes after her big with the ridiculous sense of humor. Now I even have a GREATgrandlittle, Alisa. I only met Alisa once, but I can definitely tell she will be a great addition (yes, another brunette! We all are Laura, except for Alex, but she's not a natural blonde ;-) Oh, and Shaunna's littles are blonde too, but thats almost another branch at this point) For Dphies00's benefit...you have more family than you thought: Karen Little Rayna Littlelittle Alexandra Littlelittlelittle Alisa Shaunna Little Brittany Little Debbie Littlelittle Melissa and then Rachel's branch: Kristina Little Kathleen Littlelittle Katie |
Fine...
Big - and founder (came from another school) - President Me - set record for recruitment at Chapter and organized the first alumni dinner in 20 years - for the 75th Little - the current president Little Little - current recruiment chair Little Little Little - member of rock band that may be signed - along with little, and little little |
My twin is going to run the boston marathon and has been interview by tv stations and the newspaper.

You can still have a twin in your "Greek" family tree. All that means is her Big took 2 littles at the same time. |
Actually I was part of the colony so I don't have a big. My twin and I are the start of our family.
