What kind of computer are you on?

We spend so much time with it - it is always approx 18" away from your face -- maybe more time with it than with loved ones and friends - what kind of computer are you using?

Mine is a lovely Dell Inspiron 300m

I am a little biased as I used to work at Dell.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1150m

PowerMac G3 beige desktop with a G4 processor, 768MB, internal RAID level 1 40 MB hard drive (2 20MB 7200rpm Seagate Baracudas,) internal 40MB 7200rpm for backup, DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, FireWire/USB PCI card.

I use two 19" monitors, because one really isn't enough.

This 1998 machine is faster than the new Mac mini, so I'll hold on to it for a few more years.

I use a Dell Desktop to create presentations and do modelling:

And when I'm at home I use a powerbook:

iBook G4 12" at home,

dell tower at work (I'd rather be on a mac!)

chideltjen 02-09-2005 03:40 PM

I've got a G4 running Panther at work.

I've got a custom built PC at home. I had a Dell 480T for a long time.

I have the Dell Latitude D600 that I do most of my work on:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v88/crzychx/d600.bmp

But I've also got a Dell Optiplex GX240 that I use to keep open running programs, test environments, shared drives & folders, etc.

At home I just use my D600 but I have a desktop there as well. Its a hand-me-down from a friend & I hardly ever use it. All I remember about it is that its a Hewlett Packard.

Senusret I 02-09-2005 05:16 PM

I use a similar machine at work, but it's a G4 with the 17" widescreen

IBM Thinkpad R40. That's my work computer; I liked it so much that I got one for home use as well.

I'm always afraid that I'll drive all the way to work, get to my desk, and pull out my computer, only to find I've brought my home laptop instead of my work laptop :p

moomoocowcow 02-09-2005 05:57 PM

Atari 520STE. It's da bomb! :)

Susan_Renee 02-09-2005 06:54 PM

Tom Earp 02-09-2005 07:05 PM

Hand Built by Friend along with the others! Keeps updated if needed!

Buy Componets to update.

Tower is a Tower, it is the guts that make it spin.

3, 19 inch Monitors.

Wish I knew how to do all of the crap on them!:(

Shelf Buyers Beware, they are out dated when you walk out the door with them!

Certain Systems, you have to buy their components to upgrade.

What is sad, I dont sh*t about these damn machines!

AChiOAlumna 02-09-2005 08:47 PM

Micron Millennia RS 2100.... love it! Sad that Micron doesn't make computers anymore (I don't think...) Have had it for over 4 years, upped the memory and have a Samsung flat panel monitor.

Laptop: Dell Inspiron 2600...kinda crappy, but I got what I paid for (wanted something cheap for law school).

Came real close last semester to getting a Thinkpad or Vaio...

At work- some total piece of crap HP I think

FAB*SpiceySpice 02-09-2005 10:30 PM

I also have a Dell notebook that I hate but use anyway b/c my dad bought it for me and it'd be mean not to...mainly I use it to play card games that don't work on Macs. ;)

axidhawkeye 02-10-2005 02:45 AM

navane 02-10-2005 03:34 AM

Wow! I didn't realize we had so many Apple enthusiasts here! My computer is a 15" G3 ibook with a newly upgraded 40GB HD running on Panther OS 10.3.7. :D
