This disturbs me to no end. I will be teaching this age group full time in the fall......and I still don't see why these women are attracted to these boys. I'm sorry, but man, 13 year olds just aren't that hot!

yea, it's horrible to say, but damn if i was in elementary school right now I'd have more confidence to hit on the hot teachers :)

I wonder if this is a new trend seeing it seems to happen more often or it is just being reported alot more.

umm... Tom, statutory rape/child molestation isn't something to joke about :(

I think its just being reported more.

Sex has been around forever, and people have socially inappropriate relationships all the time. Most don't get caught. Many people will also ignore it if its not blatant rape or something.

Now we are more likely to both turn people in for this and prosecute them.

I am not sure thats a good thing. I know most of you respond to things viscerally and emotionally, but we have to becareful when legislating social relationships.

I think she needs to lose her job because of the publicity, bit if he was willing, I don't see a real problem. *shrug* I guess I am less into interefering in other people's personal lives than most of you are.

All things can be joked about. And thats a pretty . . uhm . . . extreme extrapolation of Tom's post.

Unfortunately, this happened LITERALLY down the road from where I grew up. She's a P.E. teacher and girls basketball coach. Her dad is the sheriff of a nearby county. I believe her husband is the coach at the local high school. They are getting a divorce, and she's trying to use that as a possible defense. (At least that's what people are sayin'.)

Several of the parents of the girls team she coached say they knew something was going on. They say he was at practice all of the time and was always around her. (Word has it that some of the parents helped tip off old Sheriff Matheny.)

Just don't see how ANY grown woman could find a 13 year-old sexually attractive.

ETA: The local news is saying they did it AT the school, as well.

If they were ugly the boys wouldn't want to hit it with them.

But that's the problem isn't it? Whether he was willing or not, he can't legally consent, and therefore, this teacher has committed a crime (now I am assuming that this boy at 13 can't legally give consent...so correct me if I am wrong because I don't know anything about Tennessee law)

You are absolutely correct. But its an arbitrary time period. Like its legal to have sex with a girl at 16 but not 15 and 11 months.

There was one boy jailed for 8 years because he was 4 years and 10 days older than his GF. He missed the cut off by 10 days. That 10 days got him 8 years in prison and made hima registered sex offender. I guess most of you would think thats cool cause you are sticklers. :p

The legislators argue that they are trying to decrease teen pregnancy with consent laws, thats why some are being raised to 18 . . . but unless you charge the underage person also, I don't see how that will work.

Maybe we should jail girls under the age of conset that have sex as well? Thats the only way to really deter it.

Its extremely dangerous to pass laws that deal with purely social situations. They often have unintended consequences.

i really don't get this. honestly, when i was 13, i didn't find 13 yro boys attractive...lol.

I was watching Inside Addition today, and they had a little bit that said she was the WCW's Ms. Nitro at Spring Break in 1997. They said she went to Tennesse Tech...I hate to bring it up...but does anyone know if she's greek?

Haven't got a clue if she's greek but she's still a sick f*ck. I agree that this has been around for a long time but it was M.K. Latourneaou's story that really brought it out into the spotlight. It's still sick today as it was when that story came out. I just don't get how people can defend this kind of thing. Granted they are adults now but just b/c a person served time in jail does not mean they learned a lesson at all. All these sickos get is their time on the news, money to share their story, & lots of publicity for doing something that's wrong. As for this particular teacher, there is something seriously wrong w/her for wanting to screw a 13 year old. I work w/13 year olds & still laugh at how immature & childish they are. I don't care what these deludanoids say & how they defend their actions, 13 is still a child. I don't care how "mature" a 13 year old is. That 13 year old IS STILL A CHILD!

Okay, as a voice of testastorne (spelling?) I remember being 13 years old. If my teacher looked like that and had sex with me, that would so not be rape/forced authority whatever B.S. Not another one!!! :( I can't help but think about her psychological state. Just because she's attractive doesn't mean she BELIEVES she's attractive. She's in a failing marriage and then gets around a child who fawns over her. I can understand how her mind could take that attention to the extreme...in part to uplift her own self-esteem...in part to punish her husband. I mean, who wants to lose his lady to a 13 year old?

Sorry, I was so busy trying to analyze her (with no experience! LOL!) that I neglected to say that these activities are sad and destructive to all involved.

The Kid's a freaking hero . . I am setting money aside for his scholarship fund :p
