What are references?

You may have references sent to our fourteen sororities on your behalf. Many of our sororities require a reference from an alumna member of their sorority before a woman can join. References introduce a potential new member to the chapter telling more about the potential new member. Once an alumna has offered or been asked to write a reference, she may request some information from you. The alumna writing the reference is solely responsible for obtaining the appropriate form from her national organization, completing the form, and mailing it to the correct destination. You should not be involved in that process. Panhellenic does not have reference forms available nor can it obtain them for potential new members. If you encounter a sorority alumna with questions, please have her call Greek Life and Education at (512) 471-9700. References do not guarantee the potential new member a bid, nor are they essential for every sorority. References may be sent to the chapter house address. [b]If you need any help regarding references, please contact your local Alumnae Panhellenic or the UT University Panhellenic Council.

How many reference letters do I need?
It is not required that you obtain reference letters to participate in Recruitment. However, we recommend that you obtain reference letters because any extra information you may provide is helpful. The responsibility for providing reference letters rests with alumnae. Joining a sorority is not necessarily contingent upon alumnae sponsorship.

actually, isn't aKDPhi a regional sorority?

sugar and spice 05-07-2005 04:51 PM

I'd say they're probably best classified as a national sorority. The majority of their chapters are in California, but they have chapters across the US:

They actually have(had) a thriving chapter at Boston U. I'm not sure how active they still are, but they were doing quite well when I was in school. They were active in Greek Life and a cool bunch of women.

I know a bunch of their members, and they consider themselves national. If I'm not mistaken I think they're also the largest Asian-interest sorority in the nation.

They have many colonies springing up all over the place, and membership has increased at a rapid rate since their founding in the late 80s (or early 90s, I can't remember).

I know on some campuses, they're considered associate members of Panhellenic.
