I heard from other people that if you do end up smoking it, it's one of the best night's sleep you will have. And they smoke just the melon stuff.

I've never tried it though.

We have a hookah bar here in town but I've never been. Ex-hookup boy used to go a lot though. I don't smoke anything at all, so I doubt I'll ever go. What exactly is hookah though, isn't it flavored tobacco (or am I way wrong?)

I had to make the Alice in Wonderland reference, it's one of my favorite Disney movies.

I have never partaken in the somking of a hookah... but it reminds of Phi Tau parties I've been to, they had one in their basement that people would smoke.

Apple and melon are pretty good. :)

Couple of guys in the chapter were into it... reminded them of home - basically the chapter was/is cool with it because it's smokeless (big bonus)... and as long as the keep it in the house, to many ignorant people would think it's a bong...

However for personal taste I was always a fan of apple, melon, or raspberry :)

we've replaced the water for wine before. one time we put orange juice in there to enhance other citrus flavors.

another good combinatin is milk when you are smoking coconut flavor.

You don't get high off of it. It's an extremely mild form of tobacco. If anything it's more about experience. You can mix the tobacco with whatever you want, but if you put marijuana it might be a waste...like brownies (I hear so anyway).

My favorite memory with it was in the Sinai desert. We'd had this heavy meal and a few friends and I just sat around and talked and smoked it. It was really cool.

Also, if you're buying one, be very careful and get someone who has experience with it to help you buy it. A lot of the metals they use can flake off. I have heard of people going to the hospital because they used cheap ones.

I like the lemon flavor. The only thing I dont like about the hookah we have is that you have to keep lighting those little charcoal things and moving them around on top of the tobacco. Anyone know how to keep the stuff lit without having to move the charcoal pieces around?

I bet those are disgusting.

The tobacco layer (or whatever you're burning) should be thin and porous so air goes through. I like to cover the ceramic plate with foil and poke thin holes through it, lay a mix of my own shizzle in a thin way and don't pack it in and then use a good piece of charcoal to heat it up at the top.

See thats kind of what we do, we wrap it up in tin foil and then poke holes in it...only we pack it in. After that we just throw the coals on top and let it burn.

i have to agree with you. my ex roomate did that. I brought my friends a persian hookah and many different flavors. green apple and strawberries are the most popular. orange is not bad either. I dont smoke it myself. I have a fake one (decoration only). i did see a GORGEOUS one made out of stained glass real art work and it was like 600 dollars (over there) but i know if it was sold here in us it would be 2000 or something. I have seen weird flavors such as wine, pineapple, coconut, coffee, etc. I saw it one time that they had chocolate but i couldnt find it again darn.

Ok here is the story behind that. HBadpi only lives down the street from me. so we kick it from time to time. well one day we are talking on AIM and i tell her she should come over because we just got two hookas. she thought i meant me and my fraternity brothers bought two HOOKERS. and that hooka was just some ghetto slang term that my gangsta ass uses. here is how the conversation went.

Me: Yo yo yo homie. check it out, you gotta come over to the house later. we just got two hookas!!!!

hbadpi: WHAT!? You guys bought two hookas!? what are you insane? how much?

me: oh dude, we got them cheap. it was like a two for one deal homie.

hbadpi: :eek: WHAT! Where did you get them from? TJ?!?

me: they have hookas in TJ? nah man, we got them from Ebay

hbadpi: WHAT! you bought two hookas from EBAY!

me: uhhh yeah...

hbadpi: ummm how many of your bros will be there?

me: i don't know about 10-12 of us?

hbadpi: OK DUDE. ummm i'm going to be the only girl there...

me: nah man, we usually have other chicks joining us

hbadpi: ok you guys, a bunch of GIRLS!? and two dirty hookas?

me: dude they arent dirty, we just bought them. we bought about 5 different flavors too so it shold be fun to smoke em.

Besides the only people I knew, before I met you, that smoke hookas were my Turkish & Persian FOB family members so how was I to know that you and your ghetto fabulous friends had one!
