Church/mass/religious services--how often do you go?

I was just curious on this one. I am Episcopalian and I usually go about twice a month to mass and I actually do like to go and consider myself a pretty religious person. But I have friends who think you need to attend EVERY Sunday to be a "churchie" person.
So, how often do you go and do you consider yourself religious?

ADPiZXalum 01-20-2005 04:03 PM

2-3 times per week........depending on if I have class Wednesday night or not and if I feel like driving an hour.

KSigkid 01-20-2005 04:04 PM

I'm at church every Sunday.

chideltjen 01-20-2005 04:36 PM

Every Sunday morning because I have to for confirmation.

But after Easter, I'll probably go Wednesday nights because it's more laid back. And an occasional Sunday night once the semesters start up.

But I go because my church makes it fun... not because I HAVE to go.

Rudey 01-20-2005 04:43 PM

While Rob does not go to Church, he waits outside of Catholic primary (not to be confused with secondary) schools and looks for little boys...

Every Sunday when I'm at home, I go. While I'm in school it's easier to go on Thursday nights because I have chapter on Sunday.

Honeykiss1974 01-20-2005 05:03 PM

Every Sunday and usually Wednesdays for bible study. I like my church, so its not something that I have to "force" myself to do.

PhoenixAzul 01-20-2005 05:13 PM

I go to mass every Sunday (saturday if I have time constraints on sunday) and I try to make rosary on tuesdays

Taualumna 01-20-2005 05:13 PM

At least once a month.

KillarneyRose 01-20-2005 05:20 PM

Hubby and I go to the Sunday service every week during which the girls are in sunday school

ISUKappa 01-20-2005 05:20 PM

We try and go at least two times a month, if we're in town. We'll probably start making more of an effort now that we're going to officially transfer our memberships to our new church and can take communion.

CUGreekgirl 01-20-2005 05:28 PM

I'm at my church 6 days a week because I work there, but because I work during the services (keeping nursery), I rarely get to attend a service myself.

Nikki_DZ 01-20-2005 06:09 PM

Every Sunday.

I'm also going to start taking a class based on "Purpose Driven Life" on Wednesday nights.

valkyrie 01-20-2005 06:11 PM

I don't go at all, but I want to start going to a temple at least once or twice a month.

Dionysus 01-20-2005 06:15 PM

At least twice a month. Am I religious? I'm slipping away...each time I go to church or church function. :D

ThetaPrincess24 01-20-2005 06:51 PM

I go to mass every weekend. During Holy Week or other holy days during the week I try to go to those as well, such as the Ash Wednesday service.

I'm also the President of the Young Adults(ages 21-40) at my church which automatically puts me on the Adult Faith Formation Committee.

I met the love of my life at church in the young adults group :)

There are hell of a lot of hook-ups in my young adults group, but many of them are kind of scary once you get to know them! The guys and girls.

GeekyPenguin 01-20-2005 07:20 PM

I don't go very often at home but I am trying to go once a week at school.

DolphinChicaDDD 01-20-2005 07:34 PM

I try to go every Sunday. While that doesn't happen all that often (more like 2 times a month) I try to make it every first Sunday of the month, so I can get Communion.

My mom wants me to join the govenoring board; she thinks I'll be a natural after the sorority. And she also wants a 3 way veto power of having herself, my grandfather, and me on the board.

Not that he is the love of my life (yet), but I met my current beau at the student group... and it seems to be a trend there.

I'm a bad Jew.

I go to services for the High Holy Days. Other than that, if I'm there for more than three services (Shabbat or other occasions) over the course of a year, that's a lot.

I am, however, a regular at Torah study and a member of a couple of committees.

We did that - it was very worthwhile!

I go every Sunday, and most Wednesdays. We have "Wednesday Night Live" at my church - there's a dinner, then everyone goes off to one of several classes (or youth groups). Sometimes, there are as many as 800 kids at the jr/sr high school youth group!

As others have said, if it's interesting and you want to go, you WILL!!

Hey... that's to "counsel"....

Besides I haven't met one yet to say no too: "Hey little boy would you like some Scotch? It's good for ya" ;)

Besides... they have "Atlar Girl's" now... much more "off limits" than just a "Catholic Schoolgirl" :p

Most altar girls are Catholic schoolgirls. The robes just aren't as hot.

Peaches-n-Cream 01-21-2005 12:22 AM

I have been going to Mass every Sunday and Holy Day for a few years now.

Yeah..........not to get off topic but I actually had to get the church involved in getting rid of one guy from coming to our group because he was cornering women, whcih freaked them out and was harassing one of them on the phone, so he was asked to leave the group. He even approached me once and cornered me and proceeded to tell me about his masturbation habits(information i dont want to know about ANYONE much less this guy). Apparently other groups in church were having problems with this individual as well and I think the church asked him to leave (I havent seen him in a few months at church.......one must be pretty bad when the Padre doenst even like you.

I'm all for tolerance and what not and I'll admit I'm not the most patient person in the world or the most tolerant of those i think are weirdos, but it was either get him out of the group or let things get worse and have a potential lawsuit somewhere or someone getting hurt. Since then his harassment of one of our members has ceased.
