Regional Conferences

Just posting a general information Regional Conference thread. When is your regional conference, and will you attend?

The joint PacNW/Southwest Regional Conference is Feb. 4-6 in San Francisco, and I'll definitely be there!

lauralaylin 01-17-2005 06:15 PM

Wow, your conference is really early. Ours is Feb 18-20 in Springfield, MA. I'm going for Bentley because the CA can't make it. I go every year, I think I've missed only one since I was initiated. I'm really excited because I get along so well with the CA in Maine, and it's the only time I get to see her. We're going to be roommates!

bruinaphi 01-18-2005 05:02 PM

I will be at the PNW/SW Conference too. Laura, how fun that you are rooming with the CA from Maine! She is so much fun!

I can't wait!!!

cutiepatootie 01-19-2005 12:59 AM

Is this is the first yr that PNW and SW have come together for a joint regional conf? Is LA getting to expensive? I wish i could make it to these events. I just wish our ivy connection was still functioning. I hope you all have a great time up there....I love the SF area.

a CA in CA 01-22-2005 08:17 PM

No, it's not the first time PNW and SW have done a joint conference. We went down to LA for a joint conference three years ago. SF just worked out better this time around.

But what happened to Victorville????

a CA in CA 01-22-2005 08:18 PM

OH! And can I just do my little happy dance right now? I get to see Sistermadly again!:D

Sistermadly 01-24-2005 01:37 AM

Aww... *warm fuzzies*... I'm looking forward to seeing you too!

Heyder_Aphi 01-30-2005 01:42 PM

SNIFF!

It stinks that "my money is funny" about right now (waaaaah! Sniff!)

Have fun without me and take lots of pix

Any PacNW/SW conference goers want to get together for dinner on Friday? The hotel has three restaurants; I'm thinking something casual might be nice.

How about we meet at 5:30? bruinaphi and A CA in CA each know what I look like, so if you're game, just look for me in the vicinity of the restaurant! :)

bruinaphi 02-04-2005 02:44 AM

I wish I could but we will probably be rolling in a little late tomorrow. We are not leaving LA until about 1:00 probably. Gotta get on that laundry and packing now.

Dress help!

I tried shopping for a red dress for the dinner on Saturday night, but I had an awful time. I finally found something ok that is black and red, but I want something I like more. Does everyone really wear red, or is there some pink in there too? I thought I'd be able to find a lot of red with Valentine's Day coming up, but all the spring colors are now out. :( Where is everyone else buying their dresses?

bruinaphi 02-07-2005 02:00 AM

I wore black with a red wrap. A lot of people were wearing black with red accents. No one will care.

Sistermadly 02-07-2005 02:17 AM

I wore red. A lot of people mentioned Ross', Marshall's, and Nordstrom as likely places for red dresses. For any A Phis who are on the 'curvy' side, I bought my dress from Kiyonna - it was a drape neck sleeveless dress, but there's also a red, long-sleeved wrap dress that's really cute too.

ETA - Congratulations to all the chapters in the PacNW/SW regions who won awards!

lauralaylin 02-07-2005 06:11 PM

Thank you both! I think I'll probably stick with the dress that I bought. I spent so much time looking for it, I don't have the energy to look for another, especially with rush going on until we leave. I'm glad that some black will be ok.

Hey C!

It was so good to see you again! I had to leave Conference early Saturday and I am so disappointed that I didn't get to see my chapter win three awards! :( I heard Courtney was in tears!

Congrats to all of the other chapters who won as well!

She was, especially since she won Outstanding Chapter Advisor. She wasn't the only one in tears - Beta Theta was pretty choked up (and PSYCHED) about winning three awards too. :)

I'm still going to fly you up to UBC to be our temporary recruitment advisor! :D

You know, there were a bunch of us wondering where you were by dinner...everything okay?

I'm resolved to have more social time at conference next year! I think the only time I saw C was when she arrived.:(

When I tackled you, you mean? :D We saw each other (briefly) at the Alumnae reception too.

a CA in CA 02-09-2005 12:47 PM

Oh yes, now I remember. Still, it wasn't enough social time. I missed the fun stuff, like when we shared margaritas with the women from Appalachian State this past summer...mmmm-hmmmmm!

Jill1228 02-09-2005 01:26 PM

Well I hope someone had a drink for me! Congrats to all the chapters that won awards

Everything is fine, thanks for the concern. :)

I had to leave right after the sessions because I had dinner with my family for Chinese New Year. Then, I drove my parents and sister to the airport. They went to Hong Kong to visit family for the new year. I wanted to go so badly, but I couldn't miss work. :(

CONGRATS to UBC!!!

C- If I ever move to Vancouver, it's nice to know I'll have a chapter to help out with! :D
