Wedding Location Sites

In the spirit of the wedding craze (of which I must admit I am obsessed), I thought we could share ideal locations or even the exact place where you are getting married, want to get married, or would fantasize about getting married at.

This place holds memories for my fiancee & I b/c we went there well over 6 years ago for one memorable dinner. I hope the link works!

Surf and Sand Resort Weddings

We're getting married at Spring Grove Farm in Appomattox, VA. It's a historic B&B that one of my old 6th grade teachers (and one of my fiance's 7th grade teachers) now owns :) I fell in love with it the minute I saw it.

AchtungBaby80 01-11-2005 07:04 PM

I think Vegas would be cool, with an Elvis impersonator presiding. I'm totally serious.

norcalchick 01-11-2005 09:47 PM

i would like to elope at some tropical island.

CUGreekgirl 01-11-2005 10:22 PM

I would LOVE to get married on the beach somewhere (we're only an hour away from the beach, so its a total possibility).. HOWEVER I will most likely get married in the church I have attended my entire life....

I was baptized in that church
I went to Daycare in the church
I was rebaptized in the church
I worked at the weekly daycare in the church once I got old enough (and still do)

Most of my life I have spent 6 days of the week at the same church.... chances are 99.9% that it is where I'll be wed (whenever that happens!)

I swear to god, I told my husband, that one year, on our wedidng anniversary, I wanted to go to Vegas and renew our vows in front of Elvis. He laughed, but I am dead serious.

Thank you! That bottom picture is the actual room that we will have for our reception.

I want to be married in some sort of botanical garden. You save on the florist costs because the location has it's own! (Or at least, it balances out... less set up... yadda yadda yadda...)

However now that I am becoming a confirmed Catholic, people have been saying I HAVE to get married in the church. I don't understand why a priest can't just bless the place you are going, but that's a whole other discussion entirely. If it's gotta be a church, I want it outdoors.

XOMichelle 01-12-2005 01:35 PM

Outdoors sounds nice. I'm not very religious, so it would make me rather uncomfortable to be in an odd church with a pastor I didn't know and had just met. If it had to be in a church, I would want it at the Stanford Memorial Church. It's beautiful!

As of now, my fiance and I are getting married in the chapel on our college campus.

http://www.lambuth.edu/tour/chapel.html

or, if we end up transferring our membership to one of the churches in Jackson, we may get married in this church(that we usually go to)

http://www.northsidemethodist.org/im...anctcenter.jpg

But, we've still got about a year and a half so, I'm in no hurry to make any final decisions

Here's my place. May 7th this year!

I love that it looks like a haunted mansion! :)

This is the bar that you can't see b/c it's a bad pic, but what's really important is the view! :)
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...4d060000001610

And part of the main space - not decorated and I HATE the curtains, but again, the view got me.

This is another place on my short list of locations. We can't officially book until Feb 1 so we're just looking but we have 3 we definitely would take.

Where's that at?

BetteDavisEyes 01-14-2005 09:48 PM

It's a place called The Grand in Long Beach. It's an events center that does banquets & receptions only.

YES! I knew it looked familiar. We've definitely been there quite a few times, and even have a family portrait in front of their staircase.

Leslie that place is amazing!

I live in New Jersey, right by New York City. There's this place called the Highlawn Pavilion, right up on a federal nature reservation and its on the first hill in New Jersey - so at night, you can watch the whole city skyline light up. I checked their website for evening photos, but everything was from the daytime. Or there's a few places right on the water, in Jersey City or Hoboken that would be amazing at night. Or maybe like renting out the Grammercy Park Hotel's High Bar - right up on the 18th floor in the middle of the Flatiron District, you could watch Downtown Manhattan light up on one end, and midtown light up on the other.*

*Note: having a reception here means that advertising is shooting through the roof and that I or my finance can afford to blow 100,000 on a party for one night.*
*Second note: this will never happen.

Wow! The Canterbury Chapel is beautiful. :)

sugar and spice 01-17-2005 03:36 PM

Oh man, the DON Q! I'm all about it.

If you have your wedding there, you should have the wedding night there too. Which room would you choose?

I find it most unfortunate that they do not have a Martin Luther (no King, JR) room. I will choose THE STEEPLE instead as it is the closest to a church.

But I better not have crayon on my toilet seat this time.

I want to get married by the beach - which is where I'm getting married - at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club at Jericho Beach on English Bay:

Because this is a webcam shot you can actually check out what my wedding day is like in august... ;). Having posted this is February, however, the shots will be dull and grey for a while, in fact some days you won't even know there's mountains in the background.

This is just a test: I posted a reply in this thread during the time that GC was "malfunctioning" and it never recognized that I actually posted a response. So I hope by posting another response, it wil recognize this time that I posted something... Now back to your regular thread...

One of my bros married a beautiful Chi Omega last september. And yeah, when I say beautiful...I mean H O T man. Anyways, They had it at the Laker Arrowhead Resort out in California. It was so beautiful. Your picture kind of reminded me of it.

Anyways romantic right? Hell yeah it was. Although I kept tellling myself that this place would be a great place to grow weed because of all the huge ass trees.

Anyways, back to reality for me. I am only 22. No more wedding talk. Wait lemme check if I still have my penis. Ok yeah, I do good. ok I'm a PIZZIMP. Brush my shouldas off, UH UH

LATER!

We do a bunch of weddings at the Penn Museum, it is just magnificent for a black tie wedding if you don't want the hotel look. Personally I'm gonna go low key, maybe the family beach house. :D

This is one of those rooms you walk into though and it is just breathtaking.

I want to get married here.

Since I live in Vegas, our options are limited when it actually comes to nice weddings (IMO) We have a bunch of reception halls but I feel they are fake. So I want to get married at ranch by Red Rock Canyon.

I went to a wedding there a couple years ago, but in the summer. The sun shines into the church, giving it an unbelievable glow! It was a beautiful day, and a beautiful wedding.

BTW, two of my ancestors' names are on the plaques just outside the church!

I am virtually required now to get married in a place featured in the original Thirteen Alabama Ghosts (and Jeffrey). My two best friends from way back when were married at Sturdivant Hall and Gaineswood, respectively, and so now I have to find one. Good thing I'm nowhere near getting married right now--I can't even begin to think of where I'd do it. The old Drish Home in Tuscaloosa might be a good spot, although I do love the old Capitol Grounds as well (but they're not in the book!).
