Where Are You Getting Local Greek Merchandise?
Hey everyone!!
I am a sister of a local (Sigma Lambda Epsilon) at Sam Houston State Univeristy, and I just wanted to ask you all a question... Where are you getting local greek merchandise? We have a place in Huntsville that we have been getting some stuff, but they are not really working with us anymore so we would like to try some new places. We don't have a problem getting shirts done (at very, very reasonable price). We just use a local shirt shop operated by a greek alum of SHSU. Our girls often make a lot of things that we use to decorate our rooms, or what we give to our big & lil sisters, but we would like some more options. Has anyone been able to find, or do you know of any places where locals can get stationary, jewlery boxes, picture frames, flip flops, etc. We would be VERY interested in finding a place like that!! Thank you in advance for all of your help!! :p Sigma Lambda Epsilon EAT 'EM UP KATS! |
I have developed a large list of greek sites on my own website.
http://web.njit.edu/~gb24/home/greek.htm Hope that helps!! |
Our chapter makes alot of our own stuff as well as ordering form websites that can custom orders. But for the really fun stuff it is hard to find. I wanted a blanket with my letters on it so I made a really cool looking quilt, and now I am making them for my sisters! They get to customize them a bit and I add a photo of them with their pledge class along with their letters. It is a really awesome idea, it is very heartfelt has letters and our colors! Being crafty is a plus too!

One of my good friends (who is not a sister of mine) made me the cutest satin blanket for Christmas with my sorority's colors and letters but a new thing that my sisters are doing is making those fleece tie blankets (you can get directions on how to make them at Wal-Mart or any fabric store), and then once they get done with them, they are taking them to a place and having them embroidered, to put our letters on them. They are really easy, and really cute. We even got together as a chapter to work on them, and it made a really great sisterhood. :)

joetoga.com has a lot of customize-able items that you can pick the color, letters, and so forth.
But the sad thing about flip flops for ANY organization, you have to order them in bulk... like 500 or more. If you have a small organization, go to Target and buy flip flops there and puffy paint them. That's what my chapter did as a formal gift. |
For our letters shirts, and our Big/Lil paddles, we go to a store that is in the university town about 30 minutes away. Otherwise, I either order stuff from JoeToga, or make it. Puffy paint does wonders!

greek-house.com is really good for individual stuff b/c you can order everything with your letters- i was happy with my service and loved that i could customize everything and not be limited b/c we're not national
but customink.com is good for mass orders too- some local business use this such as one of our local embroidery stores does embroidery for them- so its up to you- we also have a "greek shop" in town that does most of our stuff- and a place called graph-tex... anyway- hope that helps |
greeknation.com is great too they are very helpful and try their best to get you whatever you need.

GreekAve.com is good for shirts, hoodies, messenge bags, tote bags, etc. I've always had good experiences with them, but some of my sisters have had their orders delayed. You can also order lavaliers from them - I got one from their for my most recent little sister. If you want customized pens or pencils, you may want to check PenImpressions.com |

Being in Texas, the shipping might be a bit much for you guys. (They're based out of SC.) They've always worked with us though -- if we place an order over a certain amount, they usually cut it down by half or don't charge us at all. :) (And I know their website isn't the greatest, but the work is quality.) Hope this helps! |
I'll have to check this thread out later, but eBay is a really good place to get custom greek stuff for great prices.:)
|
joetoga?
hey y'all. i tried tonight to log on to joetoga.com and was told that the website didn't exist. did they go under and not tell anyone? if so, my group is kind of screwed for finding lavaliers! :(

We use Greek-101 for most shirt needs, but for giveaways and such you could just use those bulk novelty companies.
Like... Oriental Trader or Forbe's Marketing Group. Honestly, they can customize stuff with whatever on earth you like and they cut really, really fair deals. |
RE: Lavaliers
I got mine for my local group from Greek101. I had just mine made, didn't need a minimum order either, and the letters look a lot better than the lavaliers sold at the local gift shop, IMO. In columbus, we us Jacket Man. The work is really good and the price is super reasonable, especially if you bring your own shirts. |
I do customer items with no minimum order. :)
|
Has anyone ever used LocalGreek.Com? Just wondering about the quality of their items since I haven't heard anything about them.
Thanks! :D |
It's owned by the same person who owns SomethingGreek.com, so their quality should be decent, I'm assuming. Haven't ordered from them though.
|
I listed more things on eBay. I am also available to make customer t-shirts and sweatshirts. :)
|
AOX - do you sew the letters onto the sweatshirts and tshirts?
|
Yes
|
I have said this before and I will say it again. DO NOT order from The Bee Charmer online store. (www.beecharmercards.com) e-mail greekletters@yahoo.com. Apparently their website is not working anymore so I don't know if they went under- I hope they did. They ripped me off big time. I ordered a tote bag in September and finally heard back from them in March. They sent me a refund, but the check bounced. I reported them to the BBB. It still makes me mad to this day. So beware of the bee charmer. They will steal your money!
|
That is so wrong of them. I wonder how long they've been in business?
|
i make stuff too ;)
|
I'm in the process of making prototypes of swarovski crystal bead jewlery with sterling silver letter beads at the moment. Hopefully I should be able to post a picture soon. Though I'm worry about a lot of places told me they discontinue the making of greek letter beads. There also limited amount of greek beads online. But we'll see how it goes =)
As long as your local doesn't have any license requirement, then it should be fine =) |
For ANY GREEK interested in hand-made, one of a kind bracelets with their letters on it, please email peacockdesigns07@yahoo.com! My mother and I have began to my some really beautiful bracelets, so all are welcome to inquiry. We will send you pics of various styles for a very affordable price! Hope to hear from you soon!
|
^^What do those bracelets look like???
And could anybody help me in findout how or where i could make a paddle? Are there any sites out there that are friendly to smaller, local groups? |
