Spring 2005 JANUARY Informal recuitment
 

Well I figured that I would start my recuitment thread since the sororites are holding recuitment parties this week. I am doing informal recuitment at the University of South Florida. The sororities participating are Delta Gamma, Sigma Delta Tau, Chi Omega, Alpha Omicron Pi. I really have no expectations for this recuitment I just wanna learn more about these wonderful sororties and hopefully find one i feel at home in. If dont make it into any for the spring its all good i will try it one more time in the fall.
I will code name each with these colors in no specific order
Pink
Blue
Yellow
Purple

well i start my first recuitment party tommorrow at 8:30 pm with the pink house. They said the dress will be casual so i am happy i dont have to buy anything new. I'm nervous and very curious to see how this goes. wish me luck

Ok so went to the pink house's party and i must say i was quite nervous. They are really amazing girls and they seem down to earth and not what you would think to be your stereotype of girl. But on the other hand i dont know if this is where i belong. even though i did have some good conversion with a few of the girls in this house i didnt feel that chemistry yet. another thing i hear is that they usually take in girls with very high gpas. and even though my gpa is bad its not very very high so i dont know if i made the gpa cut. whose knows. i wont stress over it. overall i did enjoy their company i will see what happens with house when i go to see them again later this week

I'm going to the purple house tonight. i hope i am not as nevrous as i was at the pink house, i'm just gonna be myself...update later

Look at it this way-You have already been in one house, you sort of have an idea of what is going to happen, so that should help your nerves some!! Good luck and have a great time!!

Ok so I just came back from the purple house and i had fun! the girls are so great and down to earth and i actually wasnt nervous i felt like i could just be myself. they are having two more parties tommorrow and friday so since i have to go to work tommorrow i know i will go friday. I go to the yellow house's party next week and the blue house's party the week after but i am worried about how this will work if i get a bid from any of the houses i saw this week when i still have more houses i wanna see. I really wanna check out the yellow and blue houses becuz the have always peeked my interest. Also the pink is holding another party tommorrow but i dont think i will be going, first i have to work but even if i didnt i felt no chemistry there even though i still think they are a awesome sorority...well see update you soon and thanks for the kind words you guys you are the best....!!

If you "could" go back to the Pink house, I would recommend it based on my daughter's recruitment experience. From the first day of recruitment to the last, her feelings about the different sororities changed a great deal. One she wasn't entirely sure of on Day 1 ended up one of her Top 3 on the last day.

Sidenote: I heard (but could be wrong since I'm an old alum!) that 7 sororities were doing Spring Recruitment at USF.

I'm going the purple houses party again friday night and seeing that i had such a good time at the first party i sure it will be just as fun as this one. i didnt go to the pink houses party tonight but they are having two more next week so i might go give them another try but i'll see......

Well i just got back from the purple house and they really made an impression with me. They are such a great group of girls, smart, beautiful, and very diverse. Never once did I feel uncomfortable or nervous which was cool. They said they are suppose to be calling people this weekend to let the know who made it. I could so see myself in this sorority but I still would like to check out the yellow and blue house parties they happening next week and the week after . I dont know what to do if they offer me a bid. But I wont assume I will get one becuz they have a bunch of great girls to choose from. I'm am just gonna enjoy my weekend and listen out for the phone and see what happens...keep ya updated...

OKay i just got a call back from the purple house and i was not invited back becuz they had reached the maxium they were allowed to take. I'm kinda dissappointed but its all good. They are still an awesome house with a bunch of great girls. They invited me to rush again in the fall which i may do. My life is moving on and i still have informal with the yellow house this week and the blue house next week. I know now that no matter how high you think your chances are of joining a certain sorority you just never know....

Ok my next party isnt until wednesday and the dress is business casual. whats is business casual:confused: . what type of clothes are business casual??

Business casual would probably include black or khaki pants and a nice shirt (or sweater, since it's a little bit chilly here!) Since they said casual, I would say pants would be more appropriate than a skirt, but not jeans. You could probably wear a skirt, but again, it's kinda chilly, and I consider skirts/dresses to be a little bit more formal. Keep the accessories simple and wear nice shoes that go with the outfit.

Okay so tomorrow night the yellow house is throwing a recuitment party. I am going to be looking for something business casual today or tommorrow which means i may have to call into work just so i can look for an outfit but oh well. i'm am excited and nervous and like i said before i dont know what to expect but we'll see. i will update ya after the party tommorrow night

oK so i just got back from the yellow house and it was great. At first I was nervous but then I thought to myself I bet they are more nervous than me. So anyways I met up with them at the house which was so beautiful. We(me and about 18 other girls) came into the house with the girls singing their song. Once inside I was taken by a sister and we talked. It was kinda hard to hear her since everyone was so loud and she seemed more nervous than i was and she was already in the sorority! I think it was her first time on the other side so it was understandable. So I talk to various sisters and we talk about where we're from, school, music and the like and it was all good. Then they sung two more songs that were so adorable. I think this house it great but they are not a nearly diverse as the purple house. But its all good because they seem like cool girls. They are having a party again tommorrow which I will go to. I'm not sure if this is the place for me but hopefully I will get a better idea tommorrow night

Glad you had a good experience! Go to the party on Thursday night..you'll learn more about the group each time you go back to them.
