This website was actually brought to my attention by one of your Brothers from up here in Toronto, and on a whim I decided to see if it had been discussed here on GC… all I can say is HOLY CRAP!!!… I can’t believe that this misogynistic and borderline racist crap exists out there, much less has received the endorsement from some members of Alpha Phi Alpha on this board. From the fine example the Toronto Alpha Phi Alphas have set, I’d have honestly expected the other members of your fine Fraternity to actually condemn not endorse this drivel.

I mean seriously, look the site attempts to blame black women for more or less all the failures of the “black community” (subjectively selected I might add), but now where does it even attempt to lay any blame on men (other than their failure to combat “feminist witchcraft”). The sad irony of this site is that for some misguided and ignorant reason they expect black women to be subservient to black men, and yet these same black men decry any hint of their subservience to anyone else – following their own logic why should black women trade one “oppressor” for another?

Woah... hold on there... now you're starting to sound a wee bit too much like some white supremast militia f*cks I have the pleasure of charging and locking away... paranoia (well unjustified paranoia ;)), "racial supremacy", the idea of strict "pre-defined" gender roles to advance the "race", and a persecution complex.

Look pride in ones heritage is one thing, but when that pride entails the advocation and dismissal of other's heritage (one big clue is always talk of genetics or purity) then that crosses the line into supremacy and therefore "racial" hatered. But now you are even alluding to revolution instead of social evolution, and one of those entails violence as the main avenue of change. Change must happen but the change must be constructive and forward looking - not constrictive or backwards looking - otherwise the change becomes a demon that feeds on itself and ultimately destroys any hope of positive change.

Limiting yourself to only one viewpoint or mode of change is what it is limiting, and that ultimately holds all people back.

So I have some questions for you:
1 - Do you feel that "race" is a marker of a person's character?

2 - Are some some "Black" people, better ("Black-er") than others - based on their heritage?

3 - What if your son falls in love with a women of mixed heritage (ie. daughter of a 'black' and 'white' couple)?

4 - Finally is your son learning when and where racism to justify slavery first began?

I think what may be helpful is if we had a vocabulary in place so that some of us may then know what is trully being said. Some people are unaware that the American English Lanquage evolves, like everything else. The term "racist" has a negative connotation that is widely held; however, one can be a positive racist as well. A positive racist is one whose attention is completely focused on the uplift of his/her own group: so focused in fact that they don't have time to denounce any other. I define myself as such; and if I were to attempt to classify my brother PHAShriner/1906, I would do so likewise.

Attending to the needs of our ethnic group does not make us "racist"; in fact many of the 'wider society' wish we would address our own needs and stop waiting on the government to do it for us!

I understand the concern RACooper states; however, I think it is misplaced because my brother is addressing some of the problems my people face.

Although I can agree with the notion that we need to return to traditional family values and seek out ways to keep the black family intact (because once we lost that battle, we really did lose the war). However as someone stated earlier, I don't think the blame solely lies on the shoulder of black women.

Although I don't agree with your website, I guess its good that you're at least trying to do something, regardless if i agree with it or not. :confused: :o

It is unfortunate that you've misunderstood my definition of positive racism. Should you go back and read my definition, you will notice I said nothing about excluding others. I said one is so concerned with the needs of their own group that they don't have time to denounce others.

I see the point you make; and believe it or not, I share your sentiment on hatred. I think it's stupid to hate a group.

I acknowledge the merit of facts brought up by my brother, PHAShriner 1906, however offensively perceived; and I say the fact remains that the present state of African-Americans is the fault of many people-white and black, men and women. I will also say that my sisters' role in our present and future states is a unique one. The choice for mates, the denial of knowledge of the systematic economic castration of brothers, and their embrace of this "independence" movement is having a huge divisive impact on us as a national family.

I believe the root of my arguement that it is impossible to maintain the position of as you say "positive racism" with out the negative creeping in... and that is basically where I'm coming from, PHAShriner 1906, may have at one time began a quest for the sole betterment of "Black Men", but because of the exclsionary nature of that quest it has turned instead from "what we can do, to who we can blame" - which ulimately I believe is self defeating, for a great leader never spends the time to point the finger, but instead they lead by example.

Alrighty... personally I see the feminist movement a natural extension of the freedom movement - afterall if you see others breaking free from the previously subserviant role society placed on others... why wouldn't you want that for yourself? I don't understand why that makes them the "enemy" (in much the same way as my knuckle-dragging canabalistic kind :rolleyes: ) - after all why not use the movement as yet again another means at improvement and social change? Why not have positive "feminist" role models and draw women into the struggle? (I don't mean militant feminism, or militant anything for that matter).
