Anyways, I am going to be in a wedding on April 21 for one of my oldest and dearest friends (oldest in terms of the length of our friendship). I wanted to let you all know that out of 400+ applicants for the Wedding Story show (or whatever it is, as you can see I don't watch) her wedding was selected to be taped for the show. Her fiance(e) did everything from applying to whatever else is involved.

So, all that to say, I will be on TV (yipeeeee). So I will let everyone know when it will air so you can see the one and only (yeah, right). I am really low maintenance (as far as make-up and the like)but now it seems I may have to get fly for my TV debut. I will try to represent for the Crimson and Cream which I will most likely mention because she is an AKA and EVERY SINGLE ONE of her other bridesmaids is, as well (except for her family members). She went to USC, I went to UCLA. She is marrying an Omega Man while I am dating an Alpha.
Hmmmmm... oughta be vewy intewesting...

Has anyone seen the show? What's up with it?

I've seen A WEDDING STORY, and it's a great show-a real tearjerker for all us sensitive ones out there (lol). It comes on The Learning Channel (TLC)-check your listings for the times.

They give a brief history of the couple (how they met, when they got engaged, etc.); they show the bride and groom parties preparing for the wedding (rehersals, pre-ceremony parties)and the wedding is shown (reception included).

Because of my work and school schedules, I can't watch it http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif, but I do have others tape it for me when they can.

congratulations to your friend on her wedding and your television debut. i watch A WEDDING STORY everyday hoping that someday i'll get married too. be sure to let all us greekchaters when it will air and what the couples names are so we can tune in. congrats again.

I am a Hopeless Romantic, so I LOVE me some "A Wedding Story." I love to hear the stories of how couples finally got together and how the dude proposed--the show ALWAYS makes me cry! Whenever I decide to play hookey from work (I mean whenever I am sick--yeah that's it--whenever I'm sick) I always watch it along with all the other "A ______ Story" shows. Keep us posted so that I can be sure to watch. Represent, Soror!

my roommate watches it a lot because she is engaged. i've only seen about 2 black couples so it will be refreshing to see some more. and, congrats to your friend.

as a side note: do any of you watch a makeover story on tlc? now THAT is my show. i am real into hair makeup (i do my own hair and i don't wear a whole lot of makeup but i got into it while in "beauty school").

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind

It's odd because I have NEVER seen any of the shows. It's a good thing for her because the proposal was real nice and traditional.

They apparently are taping part of the rehearsal and the dinner. That will be a trip because we aren't going to some fancy shmancy restaurant and all... mom's (the fam is from Lousiana) is throwin' down on some gumbo...at the house, too. It will be kept real, oh beliedat.

I'll keep all posted.

Just so you know, I will be the sistah with the ABSOLUTELY BALD HEAD. The hair that is there is ASH BLONDE,too. I won't be easy to miss.

I've seen all kinds of pre-wedding dinners-from bar-b-ques to the formal restaurant setting and everything in between.
I like this show because it really captures the event (wedding) in a complete way-the rehersals, the dinner, hair appointments (LOL), etc.
It shows that there is more to make a wedding happen than just saying "I do", and I've gotten quite a few ideas for my future wedding (but first I need to find a future husband http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif ).

I always watch "A Wedding Story" and during the intro I always say "pleeze let it be a Black couple!" and then I try to guess if they are black or not by their names. Any way I get so happy when they show the bridal/bachelor party and the greeks are representin'...I tells my boyfriend "look baby they strollin'"

I always add a "and pleeze don't let them be too ghetto" to mine!! LOL I was at home sick for the past 2 days and in between naps I saw a black couple. His proposal was really cute. He was a artist and he painted a picture of himself proposing to her and arranged to have it hung in a museum. While casually strolling through the museum she saw it and said "Hey, that looks like me...and that looks like you...why are you knealing?!?!?" only to look at him knealing with her ring. It was so beautiful!! My husband pays BIG TIME for his non romantic proposal every time I see a show like that. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif

I have absolutely no idea when it will air. I will ask her when I see her before the wedding.

I'm going to have to watch it one day so I can see what it is all about.

I had another friend who's birth was filmed at some other pre-birth "stuff". I didn't get to see that one neither.

When does it air again?

Well, it won't be airing for a while but IT'S FINALLY OVER!!!!

I know that sounds rude and all but my friend's wedding was an ABSOLUTE PRODUCTION!!!

It was really exhausting...for me, at least.

The crew of the show is literally in your face THE ENTIRE DAY AND NIGHT.

They were real cool, but you know how sometimes you just wanna "let it ALL hang out?" Well with a camera crew in your face 24-7, it's hard.

It should be cute. The really don't allow people to be candid. It's mostly scripted. In other words I couldn't just say whatever I wanted. They prettye much request for you to ask certain questions of the bride, etc. For instance right before the wedding, they asked me to ask her how she was feeling and what she expected from the marriage, etc.

Some parts were candid like when we looked at old high school pictures at her mom's house.
However, when they turn the camera on, there's something "not candid" after that point. You know what I mean?

It was all good, though. When we were at her house for the dinner helicopters kept flying over and the cre was like "Wait these helicopters keep flying over." We had to be like "Y'all might as well sit down and have a drink because they won't be done for about 15 minutes." They were astonished. We were laughing because we know about the "ghetto bird" (vintage Compton/Lynwood), but they were like "What's going on?" We were like "Awe, someone probably just got shot/killed/stabbed/beat/robbed, ya know. Don't worry though."

Anyways, she looked beautiful and he is really handsome. The wedding decorations and flowers were gorgeous. I have never seen anything like them. They are now in Jamaica chillin' and having a great time.

I saw this episode as well. It has me in tears. And the fact that it happened where I am currently located gives me some hope.

I love The Wedding Story. I love the background stories, interviews, and wedding prep information. Its so very touching. It especially makes me cry when I see some black folk tieing the knot. Tears for days, ya'll.

Yay! It airs today! I stuck a post-it beside my TV so I'll surely tape it.

I can't believe that I remembered every day that this was coming on and to set my VCR except today. I totally forgot about it yesterday or this morning...dang. Does anyone know if they ever re-run them?

The wedding was SO NICE!!!!! I just taped it, and I enjoyed it very much. I applied last June to be on the Wedding story for me and my "future husband".... so HOPEFULLY you guyz will be watching me This July!!!!!!

I watched and taped the show today....what a beautiful wedding! Your friend and her husband are gorgeous people. :)

Man, that food at the rehearsal dinner had equeen's mouth watering...I LOVE bread pudding.

And I did catch a few glimpses of you DELTABRAT...nice hair (and glasses, I might add!) :D Nice to put a face with a greekchattin' name.

I was sitting in my room all misty eyed. It was a gorgeous wedding....She has flawless skin, and he has a bangin' body (whew!):D and whoa, that rock on her finger made me jealous...and I got it alllllll on tape.

*oh yes, and I saw the wedding w/ Jamal and Lola. It was also lovely.

I watched it also. I even got my roommates glued to the television. The ring.... was very nice. The whole wedding was quite nice and made me think about what I would want mine to be like. I almost got misty eyed, but then I realized my wedding is about 7 years from now... and besides I don't even know who it will be with. ;)

Deltabrat - I wish your friend and her new husband much happiness.

I am glad you all watched it. I missed the darn thing. I JUST got in from Atlanta yesterday and on that day ,myself and another bridesmaid, Teela, forgot to watch. Well I was at a conference so I can't really say "forgot."

I did speak with Angela and Derek right after and they both said I was cute (just kidding).

Her ring was designed by Derek (he is too busy). It was his mom's ring (she passed) and he had it made for her (but they probably said that on the show.)


I have one question, which bridesmaid do you all think I am. Nice hair and glasses makes me say, hmmmm....I wonder.
