Guys should not wear Uggs

Listen up guys...really none of you should be wearing Uggs at all. Rudey has brought it to my attention that he would like to buy a pair because it seems to be the new cool thing. Well I'm here to tell you it's not. I saw a grandma wearing Uggs with sweatpants at the mall on Tuesday. These things look like a pair of slippers and a pair of Timberland workboots mated. Just say no.

Oh, Rudith, your PM box is full.

Dionysus 12-23-2004 04:35 PM

I like guys in uggs. :D I don't get it, what's so ummm ugly about uggs?

Honeykiss1974 12-23-2004 04:46 PM

**clapping** for Lil Hannah's PSA.

sugar and spice 12-23-2004 04:47 PM

I remember when Rudith hated on Uggs all the time.

IowaStatePhiPsi 12-23-2004 04:49 PM

besides the noise I make when I throw up, what's an Ugg?

33girl 12-23-2004 04:49 PM

Are those dark denim Wranglers with the Uggs?

Rudey 12-23-2004 04:51 PM

The girls that wear them are very attractive so they grew on me.

Plus it's gonna be big for guys. I predicted the blazer thing and now everyone has it. Uggs are the new blazer but for your feet.

Kevlar281 12-23-2004 05:02 PM

Buy a pair of Red Wings.

Am I the only one who knows plenty of guys who have worn uggs for years? My dad has a pair of slip on ones that he wears to get the paper, when we are skiing or sometimes to the movies. A lot of my guy friends have boots that they wear after surfing or in the mountains. They are kind of like flip flops here. You can wear them with anything.

Its OK for a guy to wear Uggs if he also wears a man-bra.

It's bigger on the west coast. Lots of people in Cali, Seattle, and also in ski areas.

I'm gonna get me some sneaks from A Bathing Ape and some Uggs I think.

What's the difference?

tunatartare 12-23-2004 05:53 PM

I'm of the personal belief that no one looks good in UGGs. I just never saw the appeal in them. Still don't. If you're an Eskimo, sure they may look hot, but otherwise no. Especially not if you try to pair them with a miniskirt.

i'm hearin ya girl!! when i was a lifeguard, we ALL wore uggs. they've been big in belmont shore for a looong time! and they're a must if you go up to the mountains!

why don't people like them? they're comfy and they keep your feet warm.

My feeling on Uggs is the same as my feeling on men in turtlenecks. If you're skiing and you need one to keep you warm fine - if not, skip them please!!

If you're wearing a mini skirt and tube top w/ your Uggs, it's obviously not too cold out. It's like wearing a wool sweater with strappy sandals.

I kinda disagree there. My new fav bar outfit is a sweater, cordory skirt (not all that mini) and uggs. I find that the skirt keeps me cool in the bar, while the sweater/uggs keep me warm on the way into the bar or in between the bar stops.

valkyrie 12-23-2004 06:42 PM

Uggs are just about the only shoes Mr. valkyrie and I can agree on -- they're exceptionally comfortable and he thinks they're TEH HOTT. I just never, under any circumstances, will wear light beige boots with BLACK pants. That's just wrong.

norcalchick 12-23-2004 07:29 PM

I LOVE my Uggs. I didn't really have an opinion on them before, but I tried them on once to see what they hype was and I fell in love! They're so freaking comfortable. But I only wear mine with jeans as casual wear and not as like a "fashion statement".

**I think my bf got me another pair! They came in the mail, and while he was wrapping them, I ran upstairs to try to see, and I thinks I saw part of the Ugg name. But it's in a white box and the other ones that I have came in a brown box??**

GeekyPenguin 12-23-2004 08:40 PM

I like Uggs better on guys than girls.

Rudey 12-23-2004 08:42 PM

Also my guy at Bloomies recommended them last weekend.

A couple of the metros at MU have started wearing them.

PureGoldF2K1 12-23-2004 08:51 PM

Ugh, I do NOT like the Uggs on ANYONE. They are so hideous in my opinion. However, one of my sisters was just was given an pink Ugg skirt from her boyfriend...its very cute and I do think I would like an Ugg blanket lol it would be soo warm!

ha ha ha!

I feel like Uggs have the same appeal as Birkenstocks. I'm all about wearing comfortable shoes- although I realize they are not a fashion statement.

KSigkid 12-23-2004 09:29 PM

Wow, someone was actually asking me today if I would wear them. It definitely hasn't hit Boston yet, but it sounds like it's on its way.

I'm undecided; I don't think I could pull them off though.

Wine&SilverBlue 12-23-2004 09:36 PM

I never saw what the big deal was until I tried on one of my friends at a party... seriously, it's like walking on a cloud. At that point (last winter) all of the UGGs (especially size 7) were backordered until June and going for $400+ on eBay so I ordered a pair of non-UGG brand "sheepskin uggs" from Australia. I love them! They are a light blue/gray color and match my winter coat perfectly (real uggs dont come in that color) and look like the "ultra" line of UGGs. I only wear them under pants (jeans or sweats) and they are super comfy. :)

My bf found a pair of mens uggs on clearance at Dillards and bought them for $50 to sell on eBay. He got $100 for them :)
He tried them on and admitted they were very comfy but they are just not his style AT ALL. (His little bro just got UGG slippers for college though) :)

Lady Pi Phi 12-24-2004 10:21 AM

I don't like Uggss...and it's not because I think the boots themselves are ugly, I think the outfits that people wear them with make them look stupid.

Also, guys should NOT wear Uggs. I saw a guy the other day wearing a white fluffy jacket, a green turtle neck sweater and black warm up pants with beige Uggs. I don't know what kind of look he was going for...I'm sure he was warm but he looked like...well I don't know, but it wasn't pretty.

PM_Mama00 12-24-2004 11:03 AM

I duno. I thought they were pretty damn UGGly, but the more I see them, the more they grow on me. I just HATE the whole boot over the pantleg look. It reminds me of the 80s when stirrup pants were in.

ADqtPiMel 12-24-2004 12:15 PM

I like Uggs. I also like pants tucked into them, but I'm a sucker for the uber-trendy.

Someone told me that the Ugg trend came from surfers on the west coast that would always wear them after they were done to keep their feet comfy. I'm guessing surfing really tears your feet up.

Men shall not wear Uggs!!!

Or I'll get all Old Testament on you.

GeoffZ 12-26-2004 02:07 AM

I don't like uggs on anyone. I saw a girl in the grocery store yesterday wearing pink uggs with a matching pink poncho and a pleated mini denim skirt. It was wrong and against God's plan.

If you're going to wear weird-ass trends, don't combine them. Ponchos and Uggs together make the baby Jesus cry.

It's not that surfing tears your feet up, but when the water out here in southern California is at a max of 55 right now(and it only got to like 72 this summer), it's nice to have toasty feet when you finish surfing...as a matter of fact when I went out a week ago, I wished I had a pair because the walk back to my place was miserable. Now wearing them with mini-skirts is just plain "teen california".

DGqueen17 12-28-2004 01:22 PM

I've never seen a guy in Uggs. I don't even have Uggs. I'm such a loser, I never got into the Uggs trend and I never had a Vera Bradley or Return to Tiffany's jewelry. I am a bad sorority girl:(

kddani 12-28-2004 01:25 PM

I even cringe when I see the ugg-style slippers. Blah

And if I ever saw a guy in uggs i would have some serious questions about his masculinity. Guys aren't supposed to wear furry things unless they killed it themselves ;)

RUgreek 12-30-2004 01:39 PM

Uggs come in male form?

You know, I keep beating myself for missing out on the tickle me elmo fad, but when it comes to fashion, I like my own style. I'll stick with my sketchers for now...
