What is the ONE store?

Scenario: You have just been informed that you will be moving to Yazoo City, Mississippi.

Problem: Yazoo City does NOT have your favorite store! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif

Questions: What is your favorite, cannot live without it store??
Would you move to Yazoo City or any city that did not have your favorite store within a 50 mile radius?

**I know some of you are going to list more than one but for all of the rule followers http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif, thank you http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif**

I can't live w/out Lerners! I love their selection both casually and business attire. Yes I believe I would move if it was based on an increase in income...I don't think I would move somewhere just because! I'm sure there are other stores that I can get used to, but also I can always visit my previous location (family) and go to Lerners and stock up.

ambitious1 07-16-2001 10:18 AM

I have a tie for the #1 store I can't live without. I would definatley have to have a Lane Bryant and a Bath and Body Works. I'm a plus size woman and Lane Bryant has some really cute stuff, they've come a long way over the years. I just absolutley love the fragances from Bath and Body they have such a varitey to choose from. I am especialy partial to Cool Citrus Basil and Pearberry. If I just HAD to move, I would be one mail order, internet shopping sista.

jetsetter1913 07-16-2001 10:40 AM

I also have a tie for my favorite stores: Express and Guess?. I would move to another city if it had better opprotunities, even if it did not have those stores. I would just have to make a trip to the nearest city every once in while to buy from there. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

candygirl 07-16-2001 11:44 AM

Express, Express, Express. If they don't have it I'm not living there. I'll leave a mall if Express is not there.

I'm right there with you. I can't live without Lerner. I had to get the card because I was just in there too much. They know me in there, and they know what I like.
Yazoo City would have to wait, unless I could shop online.

the411 07-16-2001 02:41 PM

Sally Beauty Supply!!!
I gosta keep the hair laid!

BTW, CT4-- What made you choose Yazoo City, Mississippi? I'm from Mississippi, so I'm just curious.

And I'm Out!

LOL, there is a Kappa who lives In Mississippi and he is sooooo country acting. We used to write scripts for the REal World, NPHC STyle and when it was my turn to write my script, I looked at a map of Mississippi and there was my gold mine --YAZOOOOOOOOOO CITY!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Plus Yazoo City was the setting of the movie My Dog Skip

MIDWESTDIVA 07-16-2001 06:58 PM

My can't live without it store is Home Depot. Since Yazoo City, MS does not have my favorite store, I would have to shop online at www.homedepot.com.

You can say that again! I LOVE me some Express! I don't think I'd move away from somewhere that didn't have it, BUT, I'd like to live near one if at all possible. If not, then, I guess I might have to find an alternative fav, but I really wouldn't want to http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif

CrimsonTide4 07-17-2001 12:22 AM

You might laugh at my choice of stores, but oh well http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

My store that I cannot live without is the DOLLAR STORE especially DOLLAR TREE and DOLLAR GENERAL. I love them stores. Where else can you go and get 10 items for $10 + tax.

If you don't know you better ask somebody. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Chi_ZETABBW 07-17-2001 06:43 AM

I need a town with a wig shop/Chinese shop. A must. I got to get my hair for all these crazy hairdos I wear. I need the $1 lipstick. Must get my hair accessories, glue, balls, glitter, combs, clips, etc. A cheapo purse or two, false eyelashes, a piece of luggage, black hair products at low prices. Have I made myself clear?

Me too! I have to have Express! A mall ain't a mall w/o an Express!

dstbrat 07-18-2001 12:09 AM

i must have tj maxx. it's like therapy for me. some people hate the disarray, but, i love finding hidden treasures. and designer stuff at clerance prices. the shoes and purses are like candy! then you've got housewares. truly one-stop shopping. and they are great in emergency situations, say you need a new jazzy top to go to the club/date/show etc. tj maxx is the spot! and they have a great return policy. i am a believer in tj maxx!

MaMaBuddha 07-18-2001 08:46 AM

what couldn't i live with out?????? and i lived in yazoo city?????

LOEHMANN'S . . . . Everything all in one place. Where else can you get a Fendi bag, a ball gown and a $5 bikini all in one store

InquiringMind 07-20-2001 10:45 PM

I would have to have a Goldsmiths/Dillards/Parisian-type department store. I could get clothes, shoes, and accessories in one place. I have another store that I can't live without, but its one everywhere so I'm not worried--Walmart. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif And I am willing to travel for a good mall!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

NO Wal-MART, no me!

ambitious..is there an Ashley Steward where you are? They have a much better selection of plus sizes..that's my store.

Also, TJ Maxx must be nearby because you can get the same thing at Dillards but at a better price.

Yes, Madame Moderator there are are several Ashley Stewarts her in Michigan. Oddly enough I used to work there on the weekends(can we say discount), and your right they do have very fashionable clothing for plus size women.

Well, I gather you'll be able to live without the TJMAX, but NOT w/out the Popeyes! NO!!! Say it ain't so!!! :mad:I love their chicken!

Sorry for ya!

aprilzeta 06-24-2002 01:01 AM

I will have to agree with CT4, I don't think I could live without Dollar General. Also, because I'm a shoe-a-holic, Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse and Barefeet Shoes.

jojapeach 06-24-2002 02:16 AM

Poor CT4! I hope they at least have Marshall's as a suitable substitute. Ross's is off the chain! I found some great summer clothes and a great royal blue suit for $30. (SoRHOrs always tell me to grab a blue suit whenever I see it.) You might have to organize a mini-protest to get that Popeye's chain. ;)

I will not move to a place without Lane Bryant or Wal-Mart. You must be out your raggedy skull to think I'll live without visiting Wally World to get some of my unmentionables, hair supplies, hygiene products, groceries, and spare keys all in the same spot for bargain prices. God bless the person that can't shop in person at a Wal-Mart and buy 13 extra items that weren't on their list. That can't be just me.

Gina1201 06-24-2002 11:42 AM

Favorite Stores

The two stores that I could not live without are Express and Bath and Body Works. I shop at Express so much that the saleswomen know me by name! And I have to have either Sun-Ripened Raspberry or Country Apple lotion. I must admit I almost boycotted B&BW when they stopped selling Strawberry Nectar lotion.

Rain Man 06-24-2002 02:38 PM

Being a toy collector.....

.....I would say British Papermill.

Located at the Brice Outlet Mall here in Columbus, not only do they have one of the largest selections of new and used comic books, but they also sell used action figures, including the Transformers line, my favorite. I have been stocking up on some toys I have waited almost 20 years to get. But they run b/t 50-$125 apiece. But they're worth it.

I guess I'll just have to stay in Columbus (j/k)

neicy81 06-25-2002 03:59 AM

I know you said one but I couldn't resist........

Marshall Field's
Rampage
Bloomingdale's
Lord & Taylor
Saks Fifth Avenue
Arden B.
Enzo Angiolini
Carson Pirie Scott

I'll stop here :)

I hear ya!!! I love the dollar store. They carry everything from silk flowers and bud vases to bags that you would put gifts in. Shoot, every other store tries to charge $3.49 for those bags.

9dstpm 06-25-2002 11:20 AM

I'm originally from Greenville, MS and it's just as bad as Yazoo City w/ the only difference being is that Greenville has 2 casinos. Oooh, I'm about to pass out from all of the endless entertainment possibilities! :)

However, I will NEVER set foot in Mississippi again because these country people do not have and have no interest in obtaining a Borders Books, Music, Video, and Cafe too! Store nor do they have a Marshall Field's. I have come to appreciate these wonderful stores and simply refuse to live in a place that does not AT THE VERY LEAST have a Borders Books w/in a 50 mile radius. (thank heavens for the Flint store!)

Before Borders and Marshall Field's, I was shopping at Bookland and McRae's at the dinky Greenville collection of stores under one roof (calling it a mall would give it more respect than it deserves)

DSTilmatic_1913 06-27-2002 09:37 AM

I must have a Wal-Mart - great prices on everyday items!

The MAC counter - the BOMB. I love their lipglass (both clear and color) and the rest of their cosmetics. My whole cosmetic bag is filled with MAC products.;)

A Sally Beauty Supply - hair products for the African-American woman is a must!

Chineman/Chop Suey (Chinese restaurant in the hood) - I must have my half-order of special fried rice with egg foo young gravy!

I know you said one but I need them all.:D

The One Store

Well the One store of my choice would be "Novelties of Nuance" hands down! -- After all, I own it
