posting jobs and internships

Is it appropriate to post listings or pass along info about opportunities on GC?

AChiOAlumna 12-22-2004 12:37 PM

This is just my opinion, but I think that this board is a great way to connect and help one another out. If that includes interships and job opportunities, then more power to you!

I have a communications internship opportunity available. Postmark date is January 15, so contact me ASAP. Work is done remotely via the internet and interns receive an all-expense paid trip to Denver for the 2005 CCA Institute, which is a great opportunity to network. The internship is unpaid, though.

My agency has lots of openings in the Social Work/Mental Health field. There are positions for new grads with just a BA or students too even. In our residential programs, the schedules are flexible and you usually have time to even bring some of your school work to work. There are also people I work with who are able to supervise Social Work students. For more information, please PM me. We are located in Queens. I also have lots of friends at different agencies all throughout NYC so if you want more info about the SW/mental health field in general in NYC, please PM me.

Broadcasting Internships

Hey everyone!
I'm Looking for a paid (gasp) television news or broadcasting internship for the summer. I would really like to not be at home in MS doing one, and I go to school in NC so it would be great anywhere else, or there depending on what it is. I'm a junior broadcast journalism major/print journalism minor and I did a radio internship last summer. If you can help or if you want more info, just pm me!

Ha ha! I can make cold hard cash (which I would split with the nurse!) if I refer an RN who is hired and stays for one year. Detroit and/or metro area.

Dee

winneythepooh7 02-21-2005 05:27 PM

We also have an opportunity for an RN for the program I work for. Psych experience is a definate must I would say, along with willingness to go into the field at times to see clients at their home. The schedule is M-F 9-5. I recommend that the person be comfortable with harm reduction techniques, as well, since many of our clients are substance abusers and have no plans of stopping. Umm, I think the salary starts in the 60's.

Try checking out sites like www.socialservice.com, idealist.org and craigslist.com.

Who knows, you may be able to also get a job out of it!

jess_pom 08-08-2005 01:07 PM

There's a receptionist position with my company which is located in Reston, Va. PM me for more info!

winneythepooh7 08-08-2005 06:12 PM

Still looking for an MSW

Preferably someone who has been in the field for awhile (not just internships) with a strong working background with the severe mentally ill. This position also requires mostly fieldwork. It is a very very fast paced environment, and it would be ideal for someone who is able to handle difficult clients, difficult family members and difficult service providers independently (ie. not needing tons of supervision). I feel like I am always posting on here but I am not giving up hope that someday we will be able to find another MSW out there to make our program even better ;).

As far as job openings go, does anyone know anyone/any jobs in the Syracuse or Rochester/Buffalo NY area? Currently I am in pharma sales (dont really care if I stay in that field or not) and I have a econ/international bus. degree. It is difficult finding jobs somewhere that you don't live yet! I am trying to relocate to be nearer to a boyfriend, so any tips or info would be appreciated

winneythepooh7 10-11-2005 06:55 AM

OK I changed agencies and absolutely love where I am now. AND..........we're hiring!!! We are looking for a F/T Service Coordinator right now. We also have lots of P/T/hourly positions which are ideal for students, someone who is looking to get into this field, etc. My agency is based in Manhattan, clients are in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens (basically we match you with area you'd like to work in) and have traumatic brain injury. PM me if you'd like more details.

If anything has anything that in the DC metro area in that is either:
PR/Marketing
Non-profit-either fundraising or membership development
Government (contractor or federal)

Unfortunately the job lined up is no longer there (thank you congress). I just finished my Master's in IMC.
