Which Golden Girl are you?

I know this may be corny, but I was watching ("Sophia & 'nem" as my mom calls it) with my friend. Anyway, we were discussing which Golden Girl were we like. So this is this question.

1)Which golden girl do you think is most like you?

2) Which one do your friends think you are?

I consider myself Dorothy, with a touch of Sophia (sometimes I have a smart mouth).

But my friend called me Blanche because all kinds of men approach me. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

CelestialBlu1 07-23-2001 11:34 PM

Sophia...through and through...with a touch of blanche http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I would be Dorothy by far. My friends think the same.

Who's the character played by Betty White?

An interesting spin on this would be what Living Single character are you?

Kadejia (sp?) would be it for me.

Dorothy/Kadejia don't you see the similarities? LOL

I've noticed most sitcoms involving a group of females use the same basic personality types. (Julia 'nem are from Designing Women.)

1. The no-nonsense mature one (Dorothy, Khadijah, Julia)

2. The ditsy one (Rose, Synclaire, Charlene)

3. The guy-crazy one (Blanche, Regine, Suzanne)

4. The random one that's there to lend the sarcasm (Sophia, Max, Mary Jo)

I have too much time on my hands, I know. But I can't help but notice things like this! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

dst3800 07-24-2001 03:44 AM

LOL SweetestDiva, I thought I was the only one to notice the similarities in the ladies of the three shows (I watch them EVERYDAY!) Anyway, I think that I am most like Sophia, Max, and Mary Jo...I ALWAYS have something smart to say! Most of the time, my friends try to cover for me when they know I'm about to say something that I shouldn't, but I'm always like, WHATEVA! They know me so well... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Chi_ZETABBW 07-24-2001 06:16 AM

I'm a cross between Dorothy and Sophia.
Director I agree, way too much time on your hands, LOL.

Isn't that something? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I guess I am the Dorothy type, the no-nonsense mature one through and through. Although some of my friends might think I am Sophia even though I try not to be on the sarcastic tip all the time. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

kitten03 07-24-2001 02:00 PM

I'm definately a Blanche/Max...I guess I'm a mixed breed

nikki25 07-24-2001 03:30 PM

I lovvvve the Golden Girls. I especially love the wisdom and comedy stylings of Sophia. Her "Picture this" stories were always too funny for words.

I think that you all have really plucked the minds of the Hollywood writers in noting their preferred character mix for shows.

I personally think that I am a Dorothy...always practical with a dry sense of humor. I have a little sass in me at times and sometimes clueless. At other times, I can be really funny. Actually, I think that the diversity of characters reflect the genuine diversity of our individual characters. On any given day, you might relate more to Sophia than Blanche, etc.

Queencece 07-24-2001 04:24 PM

I (CJ#2) would say that I am half and half:

4. The random one that's there to lend the sarcasm (Sophia, Max, Mary Jo)
and 3. The guy-crazy one (Blanche, Regine, Suzanne)

My friend JDub is:
2. The ditsy one (Rose, Synclaire, Charlene)

and my friend CJ#1 is:
1. The no-nonsense mature one (Dorothy, Khadijah, Julia)

Thats the crew right there!!

korkscru 07-25-2001 12:24 AM

I just could not resist responding to this post. It's a great topic.

I feel that I'm the Dorothy/Blanche type. You know the insightful, mature, independent, straight to the point, humerous attitude mixed with the sexy, spontaneous, living in the moment, confident, "whateva" attitude. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I just LOVE the Golden Girls. It never amazes me to hear Dorothy say something cynical, yet funny or for Blanche to be in her "it's all about me mode". I love them!!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

the411 07-25-2001 09:56 AM

Okay-- now y'all dun messed up!

Golden Girls is my FAVORITE, FAVORITE, FAVORITE, FAVORITE, FAVORITE TV show!!!!!!!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I watch it 4 times a day M-F, and twice on both Saturdays and Sundays. If I'm home from work, I also catch the 2 morning episodes! I am an addict! Call me a dork, but I am also a member of the fan club; I post on the GG message board as "Im_all_4" because I see a little of myself in each one of 'em:

Sophia - I'm wise and quick to crack on folks!
Dorothy - I'm a homebody and I'm very smart!
Rose - I love to talk and say corny stuff!
Blanche - I'm a "playette" (or at least I used to be)!

Sophia is my favorite, of course, but Dorothy keeps me laughing, too!

By the way, did I mention that Golden Girls is my FAVORITE show? Just wondering.

And I'm Out!

Let's add another girl TV show, shall we?
Let's add "Girlfriends". They have all the characteristics of the other three.

Joan, an elegant lawyer
The no-nonsense mature one (Dorothy, Khadijah, Julia)

Lynn, a perpetual graduate student and activist
The ditsy one (Rose, Synclaire, Charlene)

Joan's childhood friend Toni, a woman who takes her cues from the film How To Marry a Millionaire.
The guy-crazy one; also add to this the very fashion conscience one(Blanche, Regine, Suzanne)

Joan's secretary, Maya, a ghetto superstar. The random one that's there to lend the sarcasm (Sophia, Max, Mary Jo)

So, which category am I in?

I am a mixture of three of the four.
Toni, Blanche, Regine, Suzanne- Only because I like to be in style as these ladies are. But they come off as a bit stuck on themselves to me. That, I am not.

Maya,Sophia, Max, Mary Jo (notice how all three names begin with an "M" except Sophia)-
I can be sarcastic a lot.

Joan,Dorothy, Khadijah, Julia-
I can take charge when I have to. And when it comes to business, I have a no non-sense attitude.

ladycat81 07-25-2001 07:05 PM

Well as far as Golden Girls, I'm Dorothy sometimes and Sophia other times. Living Single, I'm definetly Max!

Let's add another: Which Sex and the City character are you?? I'm Miranda through and through. That girl just never seems to have any luck with the guys, lol.

ZChi4Life 07-25-2001 11:55 PM

Ok I'm finally gonna post b/c I've really had to think about this! lol http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif

I think from GG, I'm Sophia and a lil Blanche. I've definitely got Sophia's wit/sarcasm and I got a little guy craziness to me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
But I think I relate more to the Living Single cast (hmm, wonder why? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif ) On there, I'm definitely a Max & Regine. I'm not as man crazy as Regine was though. I definitely relate to her on the style and hair tip. I don't own a ton of wigs or anything like her. But I really like changing my hairstyles periodically. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I'm also really sarcastic like Max and I am notorious for my witty comebacks! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

CrimsonTide4 12-08-2001 12:01 PM

To the top as I still think which one I am most like. . .

Imperial11 12-08-2001 12:29 PM

A while back on the Lifetime website, they had a little quiz that you could take to determine which GG you are. According to the results, I'm more like Dorothy. I found that to be very depressing, but true!:(

I would have to say that I'm more like Dorothy, Khadijah, Julia, Joan.

KappaStargirl 12-08-2001 06:52 PM

as much as I'd like to be Sophia, I am 75 percent Blanche, 25 percent Rose.

And as long as you're a captive audience...

Does anyone remember the episode where the ladies are remembering birthdays, and Rose took Blanche and Dorothy to celebrate Dorothy's birthday at a kiddie hot-dog place with a clown? If so, do you remember that there was a little red-haired boy who was celebrating his birthday on the same day as Dorothy, the same kid who later smashed his cake in the clown's face when Dorothy wanted to but couldn't?

That little boy is my fiance (well, he's grown up now). Neat, huh? He grew up in Southern California and did some acting before his fam moved to PA. I didn't believe him until I visited his parents' house and saw a pic of him with Betty White and Bea Arthur. He says that Betty White is the nicest, coolest lady in the world (and she's wicked smart, too), and Bea Arthur...well, he said it wasn't a stretch for her to play Dorothy. Heehee

"Sex and the City": I took a quiz on Cosmomag.com and it said that I'm 50 percent Miranda, 50 percent Charlotte, which was dead on.

Peaches-n-Cream 12-08-2001 07:01 PM

I'm half Charlotte and half Carrie from Sex and the City.

Monday Night special on Lifetime, The Golden Girls: Their Golden Moments at 8:00p.m. EST for all the Golden Girls fans.

http://www.lifetimetv.com/shows/golden/retro/index.html

Gina1201 06-01-2003 02:49 AM

Thanks for bringing this back up CT4. I remember when I was younger I used to watch The Golden Girls with my grandparents, although I never understood most of the jokes. I know everyone remembers NBC's Saturday night lineup with Amen, 227, Golden Girls, and Empty Nest. Now I watch them all the time on Lifetime. They will also be airing the first and last episodes Monday.

In terms of what Golden Girl I am, it would have to be Dorothy mixed in with a little Rose and Sophia.

CrimsonTide4 06-01-2003 02:52 AM

I never said it before, but I am definitely Dorothy.

I also remember that line up well. Out of all those shows on that lineup, GG is the most popular.

Monday will give me something to watch.

Uh oh!!!! I'm on it!!! I love this show... And I'm DEFINATELY Sophia with a touch of Dorothy.

Paradise359 06-01-2003 06:13 PM

I have the mouth of Sophia and the prissiness and fashion etc of Blanche....But I think I'm mostly Blanche....

Well, I want to amend my first response as all Dorothy. I am a combo of Dorothy and Sophia. :)

mu_agd 06-01-2003 07:37 PM

sorry to crash your thread...

i loved this show! although not sure which one i'd be...

however, one time when visiting my uncle in la he got us tickets to sit in the studio audience of a taping. although, i can't for the life of me remember which episode was, although if i saw it i'd recognize it, i do remember they were all a lot of fun and very nice to everyone that was there that night! i'm looking forward to watching the special tomorrow night! :D

lovesupreme08 06-02-2003 10:28 AM

Well Soror Ideal08 would say I am like Sophia, simply because I say whatever is on my mind without much tact (I am working on that). But I feel like i am Dororthy ( I don't know if that is much better!)

Peace

9dstpm 06-02-2003 12:00 PM

I cleaned my VCR yesterday and put in a brand-new tape in anticipation of the special tonight. I will be at work tonight with Hubby and will not be able to watch. Well, maybe I'll be able to catch the Intimate Portrait of the favorite GG and part of the special in between making sure the kids are not burning the agency down and/or breaking other rules.

I can relate to Dorothy. She's really smart and sensible, like I am. She got pregnant at a young age and her first husband was a loser, like me. Her second husband was a winner, just like mine. Her mom reminds her constantly that she got pregnant and married a loser just like my mom used to do.

I love to watch GG all the time!!! I watch it every time it comes on Lifetime!! I have a tape with all my favorite eps, and it is the one show on Lifetime that Hubby will admit to watching. :p

CrimsonTide4 06-02-2003 08:34 PM

I am loving the reunion but HC they can't be in the room together all at the same time?

CrimsonTide4 06-02-2003 09:50 PM

1st EPISODE -- Whatever happened to the housekeeper?
Blanche's bedroom moved from lanei (SP??) to the other hallway with the rest of them.

I noticed that too. I guess that's the beauty of watching the first episode after you've seen the whole series. You get to see the obvious differences.

Yeah. . .I don't watch The Golden Girls as often as I used to. Seeing the highlights of old shows brought back a lot of old memories. I cannot call it a reunion since the 3 were never on stage together  but I still enjoyed it.

Gyrl7 06-04-2003 10:13 AM

I know im late on this one, but I am a combination of Dorothy & Sophia, but more like Sophia...........minus the age difference.;)

PearlEssence08 06-04-2003 05:24 PM

Sweetest Diva, your list made it easier for me to see who I would be. In college, I would have been #3; now, I am more like #1 without a doubt.
