What did you buy for Christmas?

I got my mom a cordless phone, a calendar, hot rollers, Rachael Ray cookbooks, and cinnamon candles.

I got my dad a screwdriver and a drill and my mom picked out the rest.

I got my sister a Spongebob light.

My boy doesn't want a present from me.

My friends are getting a drink at the bar tonight.

SSS1365 12-17-2004 11:06 PM

I gave my parents a coffee maker that makes the coffee directly into two travel mugs.

I got Mr. SSS several little things, plus a big gift of an authentic Joe Namath jersey (he's a big New York Jets fan).

I'm going shopping tomorrow for the in-laws... not really sure what to get them yet.

PhoenixAzul 12-18-2004 02:09 AM

Mr PhoenixAzul to be (someday) is getting: An awesome argyle tie, Superdrag- Headtrip in Every Key, some nice Aveda shaving stuff, a nice wallet, and I'm knitting him a scarf.

PhoenixMom is getting a snoopy puzzle, a handblown glass ornament from the Columbus Museum, a pressed leaf bookmark, a santa ornament.

PhoenixDad is getting a Tempurpedic Pillow

PhoenixBrother is getting a spiffy set of letters

AOIIalum 12-18-2004 08:54 AM

DH already got 2 of those Sharper Image air purifiers. He's also getting an expansion card for the mp3 player, season 1 of Home Improvement (from the rugrats), a big ole sheet of plywood, and this to put on top of the big ole sheet of plywood: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...=UTF8&v=glance

Rugrats are getting all sorts of stuff. Big gifts this year include a 1.5 GB mp3 player (for #1), Knights Kingdom Lego Castle extravaganza (for #2), Lemony Snicket Game Boy Advance SP package (for #3).

My mom is getting one of these http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/sto...Search&feat=sr
once they come off of backorder :(

MIL is getting a Pampered Chef mini-cookbook and stuff from the PC Simple Additions line.

FIL is getting this really cool adjustable cordless screwdriver set and an extra bit set to match.

Niece 1 is getting some kiddie CDs. Niece 2 is getting two of those My Little Pony dolls.

Nephews 1 & 2 each got a set of Yu Gi Oh cards. Nephew #3 is getting a box of 2004 Football cards (his newest passion).

aephi alum 12-18-2004 12:41 PM

My husband and I got a DVR for each other.

My parents are getting a DVD player and a DVD of Casablanca.

My mother-in-law is getting a Palm Pilot (combo birthday/holiday gift by her request).

My father-in-law is getting a custom-printed sweatshirt that he wanted.

There are a few friends we still have to buy for.

GeekyPenguin 12-18-2004 02:29 PM

I got my mom a sweater from GAP that she mentioned she really liked and we couldn't find it in her size anywhere so I had them special order it, and I always put chocolates and fun little things in her stocking because she never gets anything good for herself to put in it.

I've been trying to find non-insulated leather gloves for my dad forever, so if my mom didn't find those yet, then I guess I'm just getting him a crapload of nuts from one of the speciality stores because he loves them - he never wants anything.

My mom usually picks out the presents I give my aunt and my grandpa - I'm superbroke from law school apps this year so I'm guessing I'll be finding out what those are when I wrap presents once I'm home.

I got my boyfriend a bunch of little things he's mentioned he wanted - I HATE giving guys presents in new relationships, normally I am an awesome presentgiver but the first one is so awkward.

mu_agd 12-18-2004 04:14 PM

Unregistered- 12-18-2004 06:19 PM

Mama OTW: a check for next month's mortgage (I had to save a whole crapload of bar tips for that one)

Stepdad OTW: the game ball from 2003's UH vs. Fresno State game signed by the not-BF. I was going to get him just any other ball, but I knew that the game ball from that upset game would make him happy.

Cousin OTW: David & Goliath shirts and a gift certificate to CPK

Nephew (the youngest one): the not-BF's old practice jersey and tickets to the Hawaii Bowl

Niece (the eldest one): Sephora gift card (she's so damn prissy and picky)

Not-BF: don't know yet. Probably won't know until Xmas Eve. Thinking about getting him a nice money clip.

My beer wenches: I'm putting together little gift bags filled with stuff they always ask me while we're on shift (except for the last one): gum, breathmints, Listerine strips, blotting paper, lighters, chapstick, a small mirror, and $5 Jamba Juice cards.

The kids: Giftcards to Borders, GameStop, and Tower Records

AGDee 12-18-2004 07:22 PM

Mom: Bought her a computer last summer and it is her Christmas present and birthday present for like two years. Regardless, my kids picked up some cute things at Secret Santa Shop and we're making her a holiday sweatshirt.

Dad: He has banned me from buying him gifts anymore. He says he has too much stuff and I should save my money for car repairs. That was easy! Sent him the kids' school pictures, framed.

Brother: Pistons championship ornament, Seinfeld Seasons 1-3

Daughter: too much stuff to remember! New computer monitor, cd player/boom box, cordless phone that matches her purple room, SIMS 2, bracelet, Ella Enchanted (I bought her too much, eeek! Some will end up for her birthday I think cuz I think I got her more than I got my son...)

Son: 3 PS2 games: Jak and Daxter, Final Fantasy X, Madden 2004. Stratego, Lasar Radar Challenge Xtreme, oh crap, I don't remember! ETA: an electric train set, That means I didn't get too much for my daughter in comparison.. phew!

Family gifts from Santa: Harry Potter POA DVD, Shrek 2 DVD, Shrek 2 PS2 game, Monopoly (that way the kids don't fight over those things that everybody enjoys)

Kids' teachers: Starbucks gift certificates (I usually do Borders but traffic near the mall today was YIKES!)

Co-worker: Silly man sent me a year's subscription to Oprah magazine so I had to come up with something. He's really into brewing his own beer so I sent him a gift certificate to homebrewheaven.com

Off to make my last batch of cookies so I can take the neighbors their annual tins of cookies!

Dee

chideltjen 12-20-2004 08:03 PM

I got a lot of gifts but didn't spend a whole lot, which I guess is good:

Mom - hummingbird plate stakes I found at a church baazar along with two new ornaments, one lighthouse one and one "red hat society" one. Also took her to the Clay Aiken Christmas concert last month.

Dad - "Five People you meet in Heaven" and I think we are all pitching in for Surround Sound/New DVD player

Brother - The first 100 Strong Bad emails on DVD

New BF - Arrested Development Season 1 on DVD

New BF's roomies - See "Brother"

Secret Santa/BF's Brother's GF - PJ pants from Old Navy

Clubbing Girlies/Sisters - One got a Partylite holder, one got an Ulta Gift Certificate, ornament and lip gloss and the other got a The Cheat messenger bag

Supervisor - Starbucks gift pack thingy

White Elephant gift for Church - Worst Case Scenario calendar 2005

NorCal coordinator for the volunteer project - BAF fleece blanket

Best Friend from home - partylite holder

Misc buddies - There was a Cost Plus GC in there, some more votive holders and candles, and the Homestarrunner Figurene pack in there.

XOMichelle 12-21-2004 01:02 PM

Mom- Sweat Pea shirt that will look fabulous on her. Also I might put together a little packet of beauty products and send it to her.

Dad- "The Warrior Elite" by... oh I forget. But it’s a book about Navy Seals. And, if my sister and I can swing it a 2 tank scuba dive in the keys.

Sister- Books and a New Year's Eve trip to Atlanta.

Roommate: Dishes for when I leave since I own them all.

Close Friend #1: A mirror for her condo and a day at the spa for her birthday.

Close Friend #2: a day at the spa when we were in Vegas

Grandma: sea salt scrub, nice hand cream and moisturizing gloves

Aunt: yellow cashmere gloves from the Banana Republic

And I still really need something for my bosses, and my live-in house guest who recently moved out. I think I am going to do candle or christmas-inspired things for my bosses. I might get something little for my neighbor too, since her and her husband gave us half their old furniture this year.

IowaStatePhiPsi 12-21-2004 05:26 PM

What can you get a Wookie for Christmas when he already owns a comb?

Schmeer 12-21-2004 06:14 PM

Mom = pilates clothes

Dad = golf stuff - can't go wrong

Brother = Brooks Brothers jacket and a chipotle gift certificate because he eats those burritos everyday

Niece = bedbuggs, cute little plushie toys

Boy Friend (that's really a friend) = DVD

Ex Boyfriend (that really was my BF) = nothing

Friend = subscription to US Weekly - she loves that gossip!

Me?? All I want for Christmas is world peace, lasik, and a digital camera.

IowaStatePhiPsi 12-21-2004 06:48 PM

I was told to go cheap this Christmas, which is fine by me: in the next 2 months I go to Cabo Alpha and then to New Orleans for Mardi Gras- so my money is elsewhere, besides looking at another $700 semester for books for classes.
So:

Mom: a wooden carving of a raccoon holding a little feeder over his head that says 'feed the animals' to go near their porch for squirrels and such.

Dad: Bag of corn for the feeder.

Oldest Sister (the Old Maid): Sugar Cookies in a Jar, along with a kitchen towel that has the recipe on it, and a butterfly cookie cutter.

Middle Sister (the Military Wife): various loose tea mixes and a steeping set. Along with a certificate for her and her husband to steal me for labor for a home improvement project weekend.

Brother In-Law (the Captain): Got him a joystick that has 5 video games in it, can be hooked up to any TV and played. Since he's over-seas that is headed to him and I'm not mentioning it to the family.

Youngest Sister (the Little Sister) and the Brother In-Law (Mikey): Gift Card to Lowe's, certificates to steal me for labor for 4 different home improvement weekends.

Nephew (the Little Monster): Not sure yet. Originally I was going to make Christmas stockings for him, my sister and her husband, but now I think I'll be buying him a book or 2. One a children's book of bedtime stories or something. The other set at a 4th grade reading level so he has to "grow into it".

Me (myself and I): I'm going to Cabo and then right after my birthday is Mardi Gras in New Orleans- so I guess my presents to myself this year are airfare and drinking money.

The Animals (the aminals): Found pet stockings filled with little toys for my cat and the Old Maid's cat. Found a heavy-duty toy for the Middle Sister's monster-dog.
