Greeks in bands....

Anyone know of any greeks in up and coming bands? Current bands? You all should check out Faully! The drummer is a Sigma Nu from Minnesota State. They are pretty good.

She's an Alpha Gam from Tau chapter. She also went to my high school.

I was a fiddle player in a now defunct band :D

But Boyd Tinsley (a fellow Sigma Nu) is the fiddle player for Dave Matthews Band.

The lead singer of Fuel, Brett Scallions, was a SigEp at Lambuth University in the early to mid-90's. I don't think he's affiliated because he never graduated.

shadokat 12-17-2004 11:19 AM

Get out! I love them!!

Yeah, it's kinda crazy going upstairs in the SPE house and seeing him on an older composite!

sigtau305 12-17-2004 11:45 AM

There are two Sig-Taus Alumns who are members of the Five Americans band.

Old Mil - not the beer

Old Mil, an up-and-coming rock band (yes, the likes of Poison, Bon Jovi, Crue and Violent Fems...and a ton of their own stuff) located in the greater Milwaukee area - check them out.

Began with four Beta's back in college - now consists of three Beta's and two other guys. They play all over the state of WI:

Click Here: Old Mil - the three guys in the middle of the picture are Beta's.

The bassist of The No Talent Show, Damien Wade, is a Pi Kapp from Christopher Newport University....I think he may still be filling in as the singer as well, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

moe.ron 12-18-2004 10:46 AM

Felix Cavaliere of the Rascals is a SigEp brother. I've herd rumors that Deep Blue Something were also members. Don't know if it's true or not though.

KillarneyRose 12-18-2004 11:37 AM

Can we include solo acts? I'm pretty sure Tim McGraw is a Pike and Sheryl Crow...I want to say that she's a Kappa?

ETA: Nope, turns out she's a Theta! :)

AUDeltaGam 12-18-2004 12:01 PM

I think Sheryl Crow is a Theta, along with Amy Grant.

rebelsweetheart 12-18-2004 01:40 PM

Isn't Kenny Chesney a Lambda Chi? I think he mentions sitting on the Lambda Chi porch in that Keg in the Closet song on his newest CD so I'm just guessing that he is one.

AOIIsilver 12-18-2004 01:50 PM

Brother Randy Owen of Alabama is a Pi Kapp.
:)

Yes, they're both Thetas. Sheryl Crow went to Mizzou and Amy Grant went to Vanderbilt.

ASUADPi 12-19-2004 01:40 AM

If we are going with solo's then Deana Carter is an ADPi. I'm not sure though if any ADPi's are in bands or not. It seems, at least IMPO, that most female artists tend to be soloists.

HONKY660 12-19-2004 08:06 PM

I beleive the drummer and guitarist from Eve6 were Lambda Chi's at USoCal. Yes Kenny Chesney is a Lambda Chi from East Tennessee State.

DGMarie 12-20-2004 12:38 AM

I know quite a few Tau Beta Sigma sisters who are in bands....

:D

JSUSINFONIAN 12-20-2004 01:10 AM

Gene Simmons, lead singer of KISS is a Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonian. Also, Andy Griffith is a Sinfonian as well. He isn't in a band, but a helluva singer.

I had somehow missed knowing that! Too wild.

'Course, Ruben Stoddard is also a Sinfonian. According to an interview in the latest issue of The Sinfonian, he has members of his band, many of whom are also brothers, go through the audience before his shows and during breaks. Any brother they spot in letters gets an invitation backstage.

JSUSINFONIAN 12-21-2004 01:02 AM

Ruben is a brother from Alabama A&M in Huntsville. Luckily a few months before he became famous, he attended UAB's chartering. I got to meet the guy and got to stand beside him and sing. Talk about a cool experience.

moe.ron 12-22-2004 12:18 PM

Page Mcconnell of Phish is a KA at Southern Methodist University (SMU)

Kevin 12-22-2004 03:16 PM

Glen Miller was a Sigma Nu.

sambadoll 12-22-2004 03:45 PM

Up and coming Toby Lightman is a ChiO from Wisconsin. Check her out, she rocks with the coolest groove. Am I gushy yet?

These are 2 psuedo-up and coming in famous band greeks....but it's worth a shot!

One of the girls from girl group "Eden's Crush" or someone's crush (ya know that old, very old, get over yourself goodbye song) was an Alpha Phi...don't know which one though. Okay so that totally wasn't helpful at all!

A very good friend of mine from here at ODU just won the VH1 search for The New Partidge Family (Keith) his name is Leland and he's a Pike.

A bunch of the Pikes on our campus work for Budweiser and work a lot of concerts at the Amphitheater in Virginia Beach and when Tim McGraw came he invited them all backstage. When Kenny Chesney played @ the same amphitheater, a bunch of Lambda Chis went and held up a Lambda Chi banner and he gave them a shout out from stage. Pretty cool in my opinion!!

Maile Misajon.

I think one of the members of Nonpoint (the singer maybe?) is a Beta from FAU.

deltachi02 12-25-2004 01:59 AM
