I'll wait to hear your thoughts before commenting, but if this is real, I think it's a bit overboard..

Hey, Habu...How many Gods do you have?

Insane.

I thought it was cute for a minute, but it clearly goes into an area that I'm not comfortable with.

DolphinChicaDDD 12-12-2004 08:59 PM

I LOOOOOOOOVE Professor Griffenstien and his Pepper Moth buddy.
Something ironic about a classic example of evolution/adaptation/fitness being used to promote creationism.

Z is for zealousness!

I wonder if they have PRAYER CIRCLES.

I love the entire mall section. Especially stuff like:

* "Secularized teens usually can't read too well, so hand out colorful stickers instead of pamphlets."

* The more cryptic or unusual sounding, the better, since it will cause the person to be curious as to what you are talking about. Some good examples are:

* "Jesus will save you more than 50%... He'll save you 100%!"
* "Salvation is one size fits all!"
* "Why go to a Gap when you can come to Agape?"

and my fav:

* J.C. Penny - The J.C. makes us think of Jesus Christ, thus associating our Lord with the lowest monetary value, the penny (even Judas valued Him at 30 pieces of silver!).
* Sears - What the flesh of the damned does in Hell. It also sounds like "seers", Pagan mystics who engaged in occult premonitions.
* Cinnabon - Sounds like "Sin Upon".
* Orange Julius - Named for the Pagan Emperor of Rome. This company's mascot was once a devil, until they changed it to hide their true intentions.
* Hot Topic - A recent store aimed at children that openly sells devil paraphernalia. Any guess as to why "hot" is in their name?
* Hallmark Gold Crown Stores - Purveyors of Santamas tree ornaments depicting anthropomorphized woodland creatures (reference to Evolutionism) and Harry Potter merchandise. What notable person will have a mark and wear crowns? [Rev. 13:16, 13:1]

I laughed my ass off at the elephant. Hahaha, he lost count. The Giraffe freaked me out though. People who believe that dinosaurs live in the ocean and would feel safe sitting next to a T-REX should be allowed to have children, or computer access, or any civil rights, and should visit my new summer camp.

lifesaver 12-12-2004 10:59 PM

From the plotical standpoint, I find it really interesting that the illustration they use of santa is blatiently anti-semetic. Looks like it was done by one of the SS artists in WWII Germany.

Who knew Santa was a russian jew?

  I couldn't tell if it was a joke at first. That's a little...no, a lot frightening.

Fred "Skeet" Hoskins

*"his own youth ministry rock band: Zounds!"

*"...recently appointed Abstinence Czar by the Fellowship Baptist Convention."

Czar Skeet looks like he's the devil and just ripped off pieces of dead people for a ghastly disguise.

No way. I simply can not believe this is real:

"Oh no! Lambuel is late for Church! Can you help Lambuel get to the Church on time while avoiding temptations along the way?"

Wait, wait...this is even better:

If you find an Atheist in your neighborhood, TELL A PARENT OR PASTOR RIGHT AWAY!

You may be moved to try and witness to these poor lost souls yourself, however AVOID TALKING TO THEM!

I think this website is just a spoof. It reminds me a lot of Landover Baptist. It's just way too over the top.

Landover Baptist

Wine&SilverBlue 12-14-2004 01:12 AM

they warn about landover baptist lol.. i think its real.. but im not sure

KatieKate1244 12-14-2004 01:18 AM

Yeah, I just saw that.

OH WAIT! If you desire to purchase stickers to save "Mall Rats," you are taken to a website that is run by CafePress. There, you can buy a THONG. I doubt any Conservative Christian group would allow such a thing.

CanadianTeke 12-14-2004 01:41 AM

I liked the bit on Last minute shoppers:
Quote:

The closer to December 25, the more likely they will be to completely abandon their Secular Consumer lifestyle on the spot. If you are targeting these lost souls, be sure to bring a van so that you can take them back to your Church for counseling and emergency baptisms.
now thats just a tad bit creepy, reminds me of flanders breaking open the emergeny baptism kit for the simpson kids

Just to show you how much I dislike the religious right, I'm going to give you two websites that validate my opinion.

www.godhatesamerica.com and
www.godhatesfags.com

Be warned, it's complete and utter bigotry (and not really something to look at at work). This church is the one that protested at Mathew Shepard's funeral, they also protested at Mr. Rodger's memorial service in downtown Pittsburgh and at Chatham College ("dyke drenched chatham college" their website read). They protested Mr. Rodgers (a Presbyterian minister and an all around great guy) because he was "too tolerant of gay people".

Can I just jump in here for a second and put out a disclaimer that one completely asinine and abhorent group such as this does NOT represent "religion" and those people on the "right/conservative"? Dare I go so far as to say that the group referenced is not a part of the "religious right" - they're just a bunch of hateful crazies who have managed to cultivate a very distorted view of the world and Christian beliefs. ALL beliefs (religion, politics, parenting....) have factions of adherants who take things waaaay too far.

It's a shame that these people can't see themselves objectively. As I read their statements, it's plain to see that they have very much missed the plot regarding God's message. I mean, the language used on their site is very hateful, negative and inappropriate for people who profess to be the only "true Christians" left in the world. I mean, I've never heard the pastor of *my* chuch stand up and call the Alzheimer's suffering Ronald Regan a "...senile old fool" and muse about whether or not hell is a better place for him than being alive and "...dribbling his cream of wheat." Hello? Clearly this "church" has some major issues. I'd like to think that most of you are smart enough to realize that they do not represent the vast majority of Christian people.

.....Kelly :)

Um, this is not representative of the "religious right." These websites go BEYOND ultra right wing conservative views.

Agreed. I am the last person on the earth to defend the "Evangelical Right" as they now like to be called. BUT, even I can see that those sites are more extreme than most evangelicals consider acceptable.

FHwku 12-15-2004 03:35 AM

i don't think the site is serious. there's no address for the church, or sound clips of Zounds! there are, however, links to purchase merchandise and games to download. i also looked up the site on lookup.ws and it's registered as a P1 application purpose. i googled application purpose definitions and found a list at whois.us.blahblah that says "P1= Business use for profit. " if the folks down at the Mt. Fellowship something-or-other really were a church, they would probably be "P2= Non-profit business, club, association, religious organization, etc."

so i don't think this should be used as an excuse to air out anyone's p.o.v. on religous fanatacism or to defend Christianity.

"Religious debate is reserved for conversations held while under the influence." i'm sure someone has said that before. and they were right.

"Now, now come on, I'm being, I'm being serious. I'm gonna' be serious here, for, for a second, are you going, are you, are you gonna' listen to me? Are you gonna' listen to me? So, so I can tell you that I respect you!"

This is my new favorite website. I wish they had a forum... I especially like the comparison between shopping malls and Darth Maul. Awesome!!!

Better than Landover Baptist!!!

Regardless of how much you hate this site, you have to admit the elephant Habu is hilarious!

How about this quote!!!

"Once sin and death started adding flaws to a person's genetic code, God in His wisdom made some rules against marrying close relatives. God is SO SMART!"

Psh... Ok this design does nothing for me. I mean if they really wanted to put GOD on the flag, they need a better typeface. Perhaps a bold sans serif, or maybe make it a prettier script. And the kerning is all wrong.  Wonder if they should have knocked out the text in the flag instead of placing it on top because *gasp* that's way to obvious of a design solution. I want to speak to their creative director.

[/designer snark]
