Who doesn't like Scarlett Johannsen?

Hey all-ok so maybe I'm totally catty and don't like her b/c she's dating my soon to be hubby Jared Leto;) but-does anyone else think these Joho Eternity ads suck? She sounds like she smoked a pack of camels before taping the audio for it!

BetteDavisEyes 12-10-2004 12:24 PM

I can't stand her either. Not b/c she's dating Leto but just b/c she rubs me the wrong way. I've seen her in a few movies & I still can't see what the fuss is all about. I also think she's ugly & her nose is weird.
No flamage please. It's just my opinion of one pseudo-celebrity I don't care for.

norcalchick 12-10-2004 12:34 PM

There only problem I have with her is when she takes pictures. She always stands like a little kid who has to go pee.

valkyrie 12-10-2004 12:46 PM

I kind of liked her in Lost in Translation, although, unlike everyone else in the entire world, I did not think it was a great movie. I've never seen her in anything else, but in EVERY picture I've seen of her, it looks like her head is way too big for her body, and that just freaks me out -- and she doesn't look right when she's all made up and stuff.

Not everyone. Ms. MysticCat and I rented it, then turned it off after 45 minutes because we couldn't take any more. There was nothing about LIT, at least in the first 45 minutes, that I could find to like. That includes Scarlett Johannsen.

sigmagrrl 12-10-2004 12:59 PM

Haven't seen Lost in Translation yet...She doesn't bug me as much as the Simpson sisters!!!!

33girl 12-10-2004 01:09 PM

I didn't like LIT the first time I watched it. The second time I fell hopelessly in love with it. Scarlett is OK, I'll take her over Kate Bosworth who I really don't understand the fuss.

valkyrie 12-10-2004 02:23 PM

Oh, I'll take her big head over Jennifer Connelly's eyebrows.

Unregistered- 12-10-2004 02:51 PM

Dunno, she looks kinda inbred to me.

Also, what is the DEAL with all these celebrities thinking they can start their own fragrance lines? Scarlett, Paris, and um, hi? Antonio Banderas? What the fcuk ever!

dzfan 12-10-2004 03:33 PM

it's actually not all that surprising compared to companies like Japan where celebrities do advertisements for EVERYTHING-still think Scarlett "Joho" needs to go though

>>There only problem I have with her is when she takes pictures. She always stands like a little kid who has to go pee.

LOL!!!

Kevin 12-10-2004 03:46 PM

I don't know who that is.

But you all are very opinionated on this person.

Ya ain't missin' much. LIT was a decent movie, but grossly overrated. Bill Murray did deserve the Oscar, though.

He did deserve the Oscar. LIT was a very good movie (but not great,) but imagine it being that good without Murray.

Sean Penn was excellent in Mystic River, but that movie would have held up with someone else in his role.

Peaches-n-Cream 12-26-2004 06:49 PM

She was good in the movie "Girl with a Pearl Earring."

GeoffZ 12-26-2004 06:56 PM

I liked her in "Eight Legged Freaks". :p

Rudey 12-26-2004 07:40 PM

She likes to wear short skirts. Normally it's great but I don't see her as a sex object and shiznizzle. She's a little thick for my taste but I like my sex objects skinnier.

Lost in Translation was a great movie. I've found that people that tend to watch commercial films do not take well to anything that isn't and Lost in Translation was one of those movies that was made for a smaller crowd and then mass marketed.

Her character in Lost in Translation is beyond delicious. But then again not a sex object...

Munchkin03 12-26-2004 09:40 PM

Lost in Translation was one of my favorite movies of the last year and a half.

I LURVE the Scarlett Johannsen.

abaici 12-27-2004 02:13 AM

I think she is overrated. Pretty girl, but overrated.

I also didn't really care for Lost in Translation. And, I'm a huge fan of indie and noncommericial films. I just didn't care for it.

PureGoldF2K1 12-27-2004 04:19 AM

well, its not HER fragarance line...shes just in the commercial...

she's alright...LIT is overrated...

HAHAHAHA.

AOII_LB93 12-28-2004 10:00 PM

Did anyone else see the film "Ghost World" with her? I watched it on the recommendation of one of my more well-read and intelligent students and felt weird afterwards, like I had re-experienced high school from a crappier perspective(not that mine was that great to begin with but I digress). I don't know, too much indie teen angst for me...though I did like Steve Buscemi in that movie.

ShyViolet 12-28-2004 10:41 PM

Her acting is just flat - in Girl with the Pearl Earring, she was about as emotionally moving as a paint by numbers version of Vermeer's painting.

That said, I think she looks like a small child who's been playing with mummy's make-up and clothes. I just don't see what all the fuss is about.

Dont forget the Donald has his own cologne out too!

Not a fan of hers either. Her acting is a little flat, still trying to figure out how she made it big.

Hah I was thinking the same thing!

MissOh2Cute 12-29-2004 02:55 AM

Okay I'm going to sound like a complete idiot for saying this probably, but even though I love her, I can't hear her name or see it or even look at her without thinking of one of the little kids that was in The Baby-Sitters Club Books....Charlotte Johansson :o Yes I'm utterly humiliated AND showing my youth.

I remember her in The Horse Whisperer.....I think she's cute but I can't picture her making out with Benicio del Toro, which she allegedly did.

Oh my lord, Steve Buscemi creeped me out in that movie. It's one of my friends' favorite movies, so he had me watch it . . . I freaked out every time he was on screen.

Anyway, I have no strong feelings about her, really. I've only seen Ghost World and Girl with a Pearl Earring and while she didn't really do anything for me in either of those movies, she didn't really irk me either.

And oh yeah, I was going to yell at Rudey for calling her "thick" since, for some reason, I remembered her being bone-thin, but after looking at some pictures I will let that one slide.

Her head is too big for her body. If she were any thinner, she'd fall over.

xo_kathy 09-19-2006 09:46 PM

So ironically she's telling InStyle that she is happy with her curves, but she looks like she's thinning out big time.

I think Scarlett Johannsen is gorgeous and has an incredible body. It's nice to see an actress who's not all skin and bones like Kate Bosworth or Hilary Duff these days.

tinydancer 09-19-2006 10:12 PM

I think she has a horse face. Actually, she reminds me of someone I know that I don't especially like.

valkyrie 09-19-2006 10:50 PM

HOLY HELL she looks hot in the first picture. In the second, she looks like one of 37 women found in the back of a truck that was transported from Belarus to somewhere in suburban New Jersey, where she will be offered a job as a "nanny," if by "nanny" we mean sex slave for a creepy wanna-be mobster who has a small set for filming his exploits in the basement, where his wife never goes because there are spiders, and one day is discovered by Stabler and Benson but before she can testify against her heinous captors, they are killed by their son who recognized the evil of their ways and wants to go to a small, private, northeastern college where he will become a successful cricket player.

Or a washed-up bulimic gymnast from a former Soviet-occupied village.

tinydancer 09-19-2006 10:59 PM

^^^ Detective Munsch will have something to say about that, too.

_Opi_ 09-20-2006 12:06 AM

You guys are a bunch of haters :p I think she has a really pretty face.

Is there anything that man doesn't know? I think we need to put him in a room with Det. Goren and watch them exhaust one another.

Yea, I didn't see that one when I posted. Looks like she's taken the Nicole Ritchie route and that's such a shame.

Well, since this thread got bumped, and since I'd already said I hated "Lost in Translation," I'll add,for the record, that I'm quite a fan of independent and niche-marklet films.

That said, "Lost in Translation" was one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. Gazing at my own navel is more interesting.
