Guess what I heard today???

Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean"!!!
I couldn't believe it. My car was basically a little disco on the highway. :)

What songs have you heard from waaaaay back (or do you wish that you could hear)???
P.S. When I write "waaaay back" I mean circa early 80's... some of the youngsters on the board might not remember back that far. LOL
This thread is for the folk who *actually* remember the songs when they *originally* came out!!! :) <remembering back to the days of wearing those hot, horrific, cheap pink, yes pink, plastic pants as a third grader>

I keep telling you Launch's Quiet Storm plays it every dayum day.
Right now they are playing Prince's ADORE. Earlier they played El Debarge's song. I forget which one though but it was slow.

Girl, Michael's "Off the Wall" came on last night as I was going home. You talkin' about party. I danced all the way home. I do not care what people think.

kiml122 12-09-2004 11:55 AM

I heard Brick House this morning on the radio, and then Funking For Jamaica.

Love U 4 Life - Jodeci

so many memories of 1995...

skeeliteful 12-09-2004 12:03 PM

Al B. Sure's song "Off your own" (or something like that) came on XM the other night. I had to break out the cabbage patch, the alf and any other dance from back in the day. The memories that came with that song....;)

Steeltrap 12-09-2004 12:13 PM

This morning, on a radio station billing itself as the "New KDAY 93.5" that is in lower Kollyfornia, I heard LL Cool J's Mama Said Knock You Out. I love that song, started doing some dancing motions.

It's probably my favorite older joint from James Todd Smith.

Heard that yesterday. From the minute the opening beat played I was moving in the car. That is one of those "can't sit still songs".

You betta believe it!

And when I was at NC A & T in the early '80s, there was a guy there that had the nickname Jamaica (I still don't know his real name) so of course, whenever anybody saw him, they started singing the song.

I was watching "School Daze" a few weeks ago and had to sing along with "Doin' da butt". That's another one that'll get you up and moving. . .

Of course, little btb87 was like "Doin' da butt? That's stoopid!"

Keep thinking that way, girlie!

I heard Encore the other day from Magic 102.3 in DC. They play that song in the clubs and I swear, the whole room is on the dance floor.

Speaking of that song, have you listened to the early morning slow jams on 92.3 on Sunday mornings? They play Jodeci alot.

Soror, I LOVE the old Michael Jackson songs...oh for the days of old! I was just listening to Human Nature yesterday and while it's not as old as Off the Wall (I don't think), it still brought back so many memories.

Have you checked out 100.3 the love station? They play a lot of oldies but goodies. I find myself being more productive at work since I got some good music to work to now.

Yes, girl you know, 92.3 is the station for the real youngsters...I don't suppose that they are listening to too much church music on Sunday mornings. I guess that I don't either since I know that they play Jodeci alot. LOL

It's all good. I rarely listen to 92.3 because I can't take rap music every 5 minutes. I need moderation, lol.

Choo-ChooAKA 12-10-2004 05:22 PM

I used to LOVE DeBarge.

I heard "I Call Your Name" by El yesterday and I couldn't contain myself. For some reason, that song always brings me to the edge of tears.

"I'm not worried bout a doggone thing, I'll take anything you braang / Although I love the sunshine, I still accept the rain /
Cause when I'm in my lonely mood and I just can't be with you /
I tried everything to occupy my mind, but there is no substitute /
Thinkin' all that life would be when you're not around /
I just could not find my way, I wouldn't even know up from down /
Since I've had you in my life all things can be found / Because of you baby / talkin' 'bout you..."

Other DeBarge songs I love:
"I like It" (Oooh, and I like it. You send chills up my spine...)
"All This Love" (is waiting for you, my baby, my darling...)

Edited to say: Um, you said early 80's, right? I'm really dating myself here. I hope you all know who DeBarge was.

AKA2D '91 12-12-2004 07:44 PM

Actually, not today, but on Friday while at the hair salon, I heard "Baby I'm Ready" by Levert. That wassssssss the jam! :D

AKA2D '91 12-12-2004 07:45 PM
