If you HAD to choose, blind or deaf ?
I would go deaf. I would go insane if I can't see anything.
I'd have to agree with u on that, cuz hearing is one thing u can still b 100percent independant and live without. But being blind OMG i couldnt imagine not being able to see, or needing something or someone to help me get around.
Absolutely deaf. I've seen too many people who are losing their sight due to macular degeneration, and it's terribly depressing - my heart goes out to them. I just pray that a cure is found very soon - I'll bet that I have AT LEAST 10 friends whose parent(s) have/had it, and they're worried about themselves (yes, the tendency towards it is heriditary).
most definitely deaf. could you imagine all the beauty you would miss? you could figure out how to communicate.
Deaf.
Deaf. I've seen both very close as I was growing up. It just seems to me that blind is much more limiting.
Deaf...although with the way my eyesight is, I may not have a choice in my advanced years. Blind just seems much more frustrating and limiting.
Blind......Music is such an important part of my core that to never hear it again would be hellacious....I can deal with not seeing...Hell, I wear glasses now...
I'm a musician, so I would rather go blind then deaf. Then again I'll probably end up deaf if I hang around marching bands long enough (which I don't intend to).
Blind.
Music is my soul and to lose it would kill me. |
I would prefer going Deaf. I'm a visual learner and couldn't receive as much if I couldn't use my sight...furthermore, I'm fluent in American Sign Language, so I know there are ways to compensate for the Deafness.
Years ago, I would have answered blind because I love music so much. I still love music, but I don't see how I could function as a human being if I was blind. The learning curve would be too steep. If I had to choose, I would choose deaf, and not be happy about it one bit.
hmmm....tough question. Deaf I guess.
Definitly deaf, though I'm almost blind right now as it is.
DEAF - I'm very visually oriented.
You know I said to myself that I would rather go blind, because I couldn't live without soud, like my mother's voice, music, etc. But I am also very visually creative person so there would be a huge problem, like being a pastry chef, crafting, designing and the like.
I just don't know, I only really used one eye anyway, but this is just to hard of a question. |
Deaf.... i just couldn't bare not being able to see
Tuff decision, but used to think that if the lights went out, I could walk all over the House!:)
Wrong, cannot do it even though I see it in My Mind and do it everynight:confused:  See and Live, Hear not, can learn to do so much more. Neither is a great option!:( |
Deaf!
Although I love my childs laughter, I couldn't imagine not seeing her beautiful, smiling face!!!! |
Deaf
That's tough.
If I choose Blind, then I would just go crazy not being able to see..... If I choose Deafness, then I can't hear music..or voices..or sounds in general... Hmmm... Half Blind, Half deaf? |
i would probably choose to go deaf

Quote:
My mother suffers from a profound hearing loss due to a childhood illness and is blind in one eye due to a childhood injury. She spends a great deal of time frustrated by her limitations...she has enough ability to know what she is missing I am legally blind in one eye (extremely nearsighted, although correctable)....and my hearing is diminishing over years (too many times up front at rock concerts in my youth)... I protect them both fervently now... |
I think if I had to choose, I would go deaf. Although, not being able to hear music would really stink, I would much rather not be able to hear than to not see.
I can't afford to lose another sense though... I can't smell anything (seriously, I haven't been able to since I was a baby), so losing another would really blow. |
Helen Keller wrote that blindness separates a person from things, where as deafness separates a person from people. I think I'd choose to be blind. I'm both a musician and an historian, so the inability to read part would get me down, but I think I'd feel much worse if I couldn't hear music, or my cat's purr, or the voices of the people I love.
Well, unfortunately I'll probably end up going blind later in my life, I'd say I don't have much of a choice in this whole matter. Which really sucks being an artist, especially a photographer. Stupid diabetes. Hey medical majors, get workin' on that! ;)
i would say deaf.
