I'm a big fan of George Carlin and Dave Chapelle.
Eddie Murphy "Raw" is the best show that comes to mind. |
I like Mitch Hedberg, too. I adore Margaret Cho!!!

There are no funny female comedians....... |

I really don't know why there aren't so many female comedians. Off the top of my head I think that Roseanne Barr, Carol Burnett, Whoopi Goldberg, Lily Tomlin, Gilda Radner, Rita Rudner, Carol Leifer, Ellen DeGeneres, Elaine Boosler, and Paula Poundstone were funny when they did stand up. Margaret Cho and Janeane Garofalo are probably the most famous female stand up comedians working right now. Of all of them, I think that Lily Tomlin, Roseanne, and Whoopi Goldberg are the best.
Mike Nichols and Elaine May were a very funny comedy team. I have only seen them a few times on PBS, but they were pretty innovative for the time. I really like Jerry Seinfeld, George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, and Billy Crystal. |
Richard Pryor

George Carlin
Rita Rudner |

Whoopi Goldberg was innovative, and extremely funny. If she stuck with it, she would have been in the top echelon of comedians. Way back when, Lily Tomlin had it going on, and so did Carol Burnett and Gilda Radner. Now, Wanda Sykes might develop into a great comedian. Ellen DeGeneres is not laugh-so-much-that-it-hurts funny, but she is talented, and has a razor sharp mind. In general, female comedians don't take the risks that male comedians do. Too many female comedians just talk about men and shopping. That gets boring. Very boring. |
jerry seinfeld
bill cosby billy crystal jeff foxworthy the here's your sign guy ellen degeneres rita rudner |
Mitch Hedberg and Brian Regan are hilarious!

Brian is married to one of my best friends! :) |
I'll add Steven Lynch to the list, too - he's a frigging riot
For the best single comedy piece ever, I'd go with Kevin Pollack doing the impersonation of Christopher Walken being interviewed . . . "Peanuts, in a bag? Wow!" |

Female: Mo'nique, Sheryl Underwood, Kathy Griffin |
Male: George Carlin, Bill Maher, Dave Chappelle
Female: Janeane (sp?) Garafalo, Wanda Sykes |
Chris Rock is sooo funny, just b/c he doesn't care at all. I love Dave Chappelle and Dave Attel.
But I love to listen to Ron White just b/c he reminds me of someone in my family. A cigeratte in one hand, scotch in the other, and him making comments that offend people. Thats good times. |
Jeffrey Ross is freaking hysterical!

"If I could be a super hero..." Robin Williams was one of my favorites. I don't follow him as much anymore. And I also like Wayne Brady and his stints on "Who's Line?" |
