Greeks in your classes?
Ok, I know there's a Greeks at work thread. But are there lots of Greeks in your classes?
I'll start: Communications for Teachers- (about 25 students) 1 Chi Omega 1 Delta Zeta 1 Delta Tau Delta myself English Studies- (same size) myself 1 Sigma Nu Business Writing (same)- 1 Delta Upsilon 2 Sigma Phi Epsilon's Lit. in English 2- just me |
There's only 4 of my classes that have Greeks
American History II ~ 50ish people 5 KDs 2 ADPis 1 EX 1 SAE English Lit I ~ 70ish people 2 Kappas (strangely enough they didn't know each other so they sat on opposite sides of the class until last week, & the semester is almost over) 1 Theta College Skills ~ 25ish people 2 TriDelts 1 ZTA 1 LXA 1 SigEp Medical Overview ~ 325 people So far since I know only like 1/2 of the class.... 1 XO 1 ADPi And...when I took Chem II during the summer at home 8hrs away at a community college, 1 TriDelt who's in the same pledge class as the 2 in my CS class, was in my class...small world |
Let's see... there are most always Greeks in my classes:
Marketing 1 Phi Mu (me!) 1 SigEp 1 Alpha Gam 1 AOPi Intro to Film 4 Phi Mu's 3 SigEp's(one being my fiance!!!) 1 AOPi Jr. Seminar 7 Phi Mu's 3 AOPi's 1 KA Christian Ethics 1 Phi Mu 1 AOPi 1 Alpha Gam 4 SigEp's 3 Kappa Sig's 1 Sigma Sigma Sigma(transfer) |

I am not in college anymore. I took quite a few big introductory classes in lecture hall 1 which had seats for about 500 students. It was so funny to see all the pledges. They would wear their colors or pledge shirts and sit near the brother or sisters wearing letters. You'd have me with the DPhiE sisters and pledges in the middle section near the middle rows. Sig Ep and AEPi sat kind of near us, but not too close. ZBT always sat about ten rows behind us and to the right. Sigma Nu sat on the far right way off to the side. SAE sat near Alpha Xi Delta. It was like a who's who of greeklife in those big classes. It was weird they always sat in the same places for whatever class it was. My school was less than 10% greek, but these classes were about 20%. If the class was considered a 'blowoff,' the class was chock full of greeks.
I just took a stroll down nostalgia lane. :) |

At Cal, a lot of people don't announce their Greek Status a lot of the time because of hostility from the "tolerant" liberals; so its hard to tell, but from my conversations these are what I know of, but there are probably many more:
My classes: American Studies 110 - Globalization and Consumer Theory ~50 people 1 Theta Delta Chi 2 Alpha Phis 4 Kappas 1 Sigma Kappa 3 Kappa Sigs 1 Pi Lam 1 Phi Gamma Delta German 101 - Advanced German Writing - 15 people 1 Theta Delta Chi 1 Sigma Omicron Pi Film Studies 25A - Introduction to Silent Film and Film Theory - 60+ People 2 Theta Delta Chis 4 Pi Lambda Phis 1 Phi Delta Theta 3 Gamma Phi Betas 1 Pi Kappa Phi German 100 - German Literature - 8 people 1 Theta Delta Chi 1 Sigma Omicron Pi 2 Beta Alpha Psi Business Fraternity I already have my schedule for next semester, but my classes lean more to American Studies, so the Greek population will be much higher in those than they are in my German courses, except for German 160, (Fascism and Propaganda) which is cross-listed as a Political Science course which are usually packed with Greeks. |
Business Spanish (15 people):

No, I'm not in school anymore, but just thinking about this made me realize that I can't think of any single class I took where there were no greeks......I think all of my classes had members in it. Wow---lots of greeks on my campus!

Okay, Hillsdale is pretty small, so I don't get all excited when I see other Greeks.... I know them all. :) But, in my classes:
Methods (6 people): 1 Kappa Shakespeare's Tragedies (12 people): 1 Kappa, maybe an SAI (they don't wear letters often, so I'm not sure which girls are actually in SAI) American Novel (about 15 people): 1 Pi Phi, 1 Pi Phi who went alum, 2 Kappas, 1 SAI SR (5 people): 1 Chi-O new member Practicum: 1 Pi Phi, 1 Chi-O, 1 SAI, 1 Kappa (and I'm not sure what else.... That class only "meets" once a month) |
American Southern Literature (20 people)
-me -another Alpha Gam who suspended her membership -I've seen a Delta Tau Delta shirt on a guy and a KKG shirt on a girl, but we don't have chapters of either at my school, so I'm not sure if they are members or they just happen to have the shirts for some odd reason Writing and the Creative Process (15 people) -me -one ATO -one Phi Delt Creative Writing:Poetry (20 people) -two Alpha Gams -one ATO -one Phi Mu who isn't active anymore Junior English Seminar (20 people) -me -one ATO Our Greek system is relatively small, so it's not unusual for me to not have very many Greeks with me in my classes. |
Fiction writing: an AEPi
Nonfiction writing: another AEPi Drama in Education: an Alpha Phi, an AXO and a Theta |
Some of you have some interesting classes in college. Sewing and cosmetic fun. Wow.

In my health psych class, there are about 90 or so people in the class and off the top of my head I know there are at least 2 Kappa's, 3 Phi Mu's, 1 Phi Delt, a handful of AKL's, 2 or 3 DG's, some Zeta's, a KD, a Lambda Chi, and a couple of Chi O's. That's just the people I know of though, i am sure there are many more.
Stat is a huge lecture and I am sure at least 50% of the class is greek, if not more. My women's studies class there is a Pi Phi, and then me and one of my sisters. In my rural sociology class, I am the only greek. But it's also a night class with all adults so that's probably why. ;) |
i usually have more greeks in my classes...its almost like greek reunion. but this quarter...
