What was the first video you remember seeing
I believe mine would be Rio by Duran Duran.
|
Tonight's the Night by Rod Stewart - on America's Top 10 or Solid Gold or one of those shows. The first one I remember seeing on an actual *video* program was Every Day I Write the Book by Elvis Costello.

THRILLER was the first I remember. |
i think it was something by Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston. I think it was "The Greatest Love Of All" or "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"....i cannot think back that far
|
The Police I think that it was Roxanne, but I am not positive.
|
Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
I'm sure that wasn't the first video I ever saw, but it's the first one I can remember. |

I think his last name was Wait. John Wait I think? I miss you or I'm Missing you, something like that.
What made it memorable was the "plot." He was missing his girlfriend and singing the song with head phones on (I guess singing along with his own song.) and since he had headphones on he didn't hear his girlfriend (the one he's missing) knocking on the door. So she left. That is my first video memory. |
What was that video where the dude goes back and forth btw the comic world and reality? It's about race car drivers. It's a really cool video, even by today's standard.
|
I think mine was Madonna's Material Girl - and I made up a dance routine and make the neighborhood kids do it. :-)
|
I'm not sure. Maybe Harden My Heart by Quarterflash.
|
"Video killed the radiostars" from The Buggles, which incidentally, was the very first music video played on MTV....yeah, it was 1981. I was 11, and was hooked to MTV from that point forward!
|
Don Henley All She Wants to do is Dance
It was one of the few they played on MTV when it started... |
"Centerfold" - J. Geils Band

I think it was Michael Jackson "Billie Jean." My good friend had cable and we would watch MTV for HOURS on end. I got cable in the first place just so I could get MTV. (Oh, I know that's pretty lame)
|
And... anyone remember those ancient cable box channel selectors that were connected to the TV by a cable (no remote control back then) and channel selection was by a slider? Or when you called the cable company and were told "we haven't gotten around to install cable in your neighborhood yet".

A-Ha- Take On Me. Still a great video and one of my favorite songs.

We were living in Fairbanks, Alaska, so cable was a little later getting to the rest of us up there. I want to say that I remember it was "Hello" by Lionel Richie, on VH1. Hubby remembers the debut of MTV--"Video Killed the Radio Star". |
Our House by Madness
|
Beat it - Michael Jackson
|
We didn't get cable in my neighborhood until 1986 (I was 7), but my "privileged" cousins had cable from god knows when, and I remember the first video I saw was the Go-Go's VACATION.
|
video killed the radio star...
a bit of age showing |
