AOII to present at University of Arkansas

Tidbits from the AOII Website:

AOII Selected to Present for Extension at the University of Arkansas.

Alpha Omicron Pi is pleased to announce that we have been invited to present for extension at the University of Arkansas. The university is located in Fayetteville and is the flagship campus of the University of Arkansas system. Founded in 1871, the U of A has a total student enrollment of over 16,000 and is a member of the NCAA Southeastern Conference division. Currently, there are seven NPC organizations on campus including Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi and Zeta Tau Alpha.

I would love to have another AOII chapter at an awesome university and an SEC UNIVERSITY :)

aopirose 11-15-2004 02:17 PM

In deed we have. This is what my cryptic message of last month was about. We are presenting on December 1 at 6 PM. A reception is to follow. If you would like to attend or need more information, please contact Lori Belew.

As much as it pains my LSU heart, GO HOGS! ;)

AOIIsilver 11-15-2004 07:53 PM

Yeah! Woo hoo for the SEC!
Silver

The B Girl 11-15-2004 10:13 PM

AOIIalum 01-18-2005 11:40 AM

The SEC rocks. That is all!

Silver, before this is all over, we may have to cheer in honor of our newest Razorback sisters :D

aopirose 01-18-2005 09:11 PM

No news yet but it should be soon. The XB is discussion this week. Fingers crossed!

Beryana 01-18-2005 11:26 PM

Am I going to have to actually start paying attention to college (read SEC) football?! Is that a requirement to be friends (not just sisters) with y'all?!

You mean you DON'T follow SEC football? My, my. Here's a Bloody Mary or a Mint Julep if you prefer and a nice lawn chair. We shall do our best to bring you into our world. ;)

AOIIalum 01-18-2005 11:42 PM

Okay, replying to two posts at once:

1. C, you get that nasty flag outta here and we won't have any problems ;) I guess I should take this opportunity to mention that the University of Kentucky cheerleaders won yet another National Championship last weekend...

2. S, just remember that it's not just SEC football, but BASKETBALL...but we don't care if you care about any of it or not, as long as you can put up with our obsessions. Now here's a handy dandy scorecard to help you out:

- if you're talking with Silver, the sun rises and sets on the Vanderbilt Commodores

- if you're talking with Glitter, the sun rises and sets on the Ole Miss Rebels

- if you're talking with me, the sun rises and sets on the University of Kentucky Wildcats

Now, if I've forgotten another sister partial to the SEC, my apologies (and add yourself to the list so Sarah can keep score, LOL!)

Beryana 01-19-2005 12:12 AM

C, I would have NEVER guessed you for a UK fan! ;) LOL

Be patient with me, I grew up with the Big 10 (when there were only 10 teams in the conference!). My brother's girlfriend is from Bama so maybe I can ask her some pointers?!

*warning - Whine alert!* Do I HAVE to follow college basketball?! I don't like basketball! Can I have one season to follow college hockey? Pretty please? With sugar on top?!

I am highly offended that I was left off your list but I will get over it someday. Besides, basketball just passes the time until football season comes again. ;)

aopirose - From a plaque that I gave to my husband for Christmas, "If God weren't in Heaven, He'd be in Death Valley." The universe revolves around LSU!

"There’s nothing like LSU’s Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night. The stadium, popularly known as “Death Valley,” is considered by opposing teams as one of the most difficult stadiums in which to play because of fan enthusiasm. With the 2000 expansion, the stadium seats 91,644 spectators and is the fourth largest on-campus college football stadium in the country. Perhaps one of the most famous moments in Death Valley history took place on “The Night the Tigers Moved the Earth,” October 8, 1988. It was on that night, when Tommy Hodson threw to Eddie Fuller for the winning touchdown against Auburn, that the explosion of the crowd was so thunderous it caused an earth tremor that registered on a seismograph meter in LSU’s Department of Geology & Geophysics across campus."

If I don't like either, can I just have a beer?! LOL I have a feeling you are going to make me an outcast in proper Wisconsin sporting circles!

Beer is fine but if you are drinking from a can, you'll have to put it in a floozie coozie. A lady really shouldn't drink from a can, but since glasses are prohibited on campus, it is a game day exception. I have a really pretty AOII one in red sequins with red feathers. I don't drink alcohol in it though. I also have one in tiger print with purple and gold feathers.

Beryana 01-19-2005 01:07 AM

Oh, I wouldn't be able to show my face with red sequins and feathers around my beer. . . . even if it IS an AOII can cozy! LOL The only thing that canned beer should be used for is making brats - that's it! :)

OleMissGlitter 01-19-2005 10:11 AM

GO AOII AT ARKANSAS!

However, go Ole Miss Rebels! Hotty Toddy!

AOIIBrandi 01-19-2005 10:49 AM

Go SEC - I am just a fan of the SEC in general, but (according to my husband) in our house the universe revolves around LSU football.

The B Girl 01-19-2005 09:38 PM

I have been a FLORIDA GATOR since I was born. My family has season tickets, and I don't mean to be biased, but it is the BEST (and the loudest) stadium there is!! We now have an awesome coach, Urban Meyer, and are ready to kick some SEC butt next year!!! ;)

In Florida, you HAVE to declare a loyalty to one of the 3 big teams. This makes for some great inter-state football rivalries.

GO GATORS!!

nhpgator 01-20-2005 01:33 PM

from my name you can probably figure i would like to be added to the SEC roll call under the flagship university for the state of florida and the former and soon to be again Beast of the East (SEC) THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA!!!

OK OK so i actually love all the SEC schools... I think we should encourage the XB to colonize or re-open at all SEC schools then I will always have somewhere to visit for away games.

The SEC schools truly do have the best hospitality and traditions. But in FLorida it is truly football above all else. People say we don't have seasons down here, but I disagree we have four
Football, recruiting, spring practice and waiting for Football to start!

I'd love to have an AOII chapter at every SEC school, but sometimes things happen for a reason.

Having said that, have we ever had a chapter at South Carolina? That's the only SEC school I'm not sure on.

nhpgator 01-21-2005 09:14 AM

yes we did have a chapter at USC - Delta Phi. I don't know when they went inactive, my husband "thinks" they were active when he was there. Of course he played football and not greek (even though he lived in the Pike house) so he gets the letters all mixed up..

Beryana 01-21-2005 11:51 AM

My AOII History book is out in my car. I'll get it later today and check for you guys! You'd think I have nothing better to do than look up obscure AOII History facts for you all! Oh wait, I don't! LOL

Sarah

Beryana 01-26-2005 09:17 PM

Okay, so I finally brought my book in from the car!

Delta Phi was chartered September 23, 1933. The charter was held in trust from 1937 until rechartering April 22, 1978. The charter has been held in trust since 1983. According to the history book there was never enough alumnae support either time the chapter was active.

Silver looks appropriately disinterested as 'Dores never get too excited about sports...might cause one to break her perfectly good Jimmy Choo....

FYI: In Nashville, I have actually been approached by a random guy in a mall who asked, "Aren't you that woman who sits next to the guy who yells at the referees?" Good grief. It is no wonder that the Silver household has no children; Mr. Silver is always at the Vandy games (or buying Diet Coke to appease household disgruntlements:D).

Beryana 01-27-2005 11:44 PM

So I met my brother's girlfriend this evening and she is GREAT - I would vote to keep her on the island if I had any say in the matter! She's a Pi Phi from Bama and we VERY briefly talked about SEC football - but my brother put an end to that one!

Update

It looks like things are tentatively ago for Fall 2006. A few more things need to be settled but it will all work out in the end.

aopirose 03-18-2005 02:06 PM

We are scheduled to begin colony recruitment in Fall 2006. However, we will begin our PR campaign the weekend of April 8th. It's just a few weeks away! Go Hogs!

AOII*Azra-elle 04-13-2005 07:10 PM

How did the PR go this last weekend?

aopirose 04-15-2005 03:03 PM

I have heard that things went very well. My contact has been ill so I don't have specifics. Believe me, when I do, I will share.

PsychTau2 04-16-2005 01:31 PM

GO HOGS!!! :D

Sorry, just HAD to do that!!

So AOII is doing PR for a solid year? Wow...I've never heard of that before (but then again I've never been involved with such a large school/Greek system).

Either way...I'm rootin' for ya!!

Yup, a whole year. We have found that at larger schools this works best for us. Indiana and Oklahoma are prime examples. One time, we deviated from that formula and it didn't work out.
