Great NEWS SORORS/SISTERFRIENDS!!!
Hello Sorors/greeks/friends
I just wanted to let everyone know that my boyfriend of almost 4 years asked me to marry him, and I happily (and tearfully) accepted!!!! I am SO EXCITED!!!!! Now if I can only get my wedding on the Wedding Story, that will be a dream come true!!! Now the Wedding planning begins....... I can't believe that I will FINALLY have the Delta sweetheart song, sung to me at my wedding!!! I have sung the solo part to at least 3 weddings, and now I get to sit back and cry my eyes out. By the way, My fiance is thinking about incorporating a greek theme for the wedding (He's an Alpha) So we can have a Delta/Alpha theme, got any ideas??? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ Da' Assassin Epsilon Xi #2 Spring 2000 |

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am thinking of Vesta's song but that is a long story. I have an idea of an APhiA/DST theme related wedding just because I too wanted to marry an Alpha. What you can do is your party favors or whatever can have pyramids on them, or make pyramids as centerpieces or something since both Alphas and Deltas incorporate pyramids. Also at some weddings/receptions, sorors and Brother Greeks have stepped. What you might consider is having a simple unity step between Alphas and Deltas. Also this was at a regular wedding reception but there was a mini talent show where the bride and bridesmaids sang RESPECT to the groom and the groom and groomsmen sang something to bride. I don't know what you plan to do as far as colors but I am sure others have fabulous ideas. Again Congratulations!! Best Wishes and Here's to a Life filled with all of the Happiness that your Hearts can hold. ------------------ #4 Spring 1997 Omicron Theta (Wittenberg University) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He who asks questions cannot avoid the answers. I love to see young black women fulfilling their dreams. First Delta and now marriage. I pray this positive momentum continues to flow vigorously through your life for years to come. Is it true that even though you're the Dream Girl of an A Phi A, your first love is still DST? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gifHave lots of tissue when they sing that song soror. You're gonna need it. Congrats to you and your husband to be. |

I am soooo happy for you!!
Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I have been out of the loop and out of time, so I have not been able to read or post on GC. I know you live in the Chi...so, I will let you know about something REALLY SPECIAL!! If you would like a stress free time while you plan your wedding... and a beautiful wedding you can contact my mother. She has her own business where she does everything for you. She also decorates. The weddings that she does are VERY elegant and unique!! She will find everything you need and want and will make sure that you have quality service as far as a photographer, videographer, limo service, DJ, invitations, ANYTHING any bride would need!! She will do it all for you (you tell her what to do, of course), because planning a wedding can be stressful. She will be moving from our house and into her own store on June 16th (thank GOD!!) If you are interested, email me and I will give you more details. So far all of the weddings she has done came to her by word of mouth, and every one who sees her work loves it!! I invite you to at least see some pictures of her work...I gurantee that you will want to use her to help make your wedding an even more beautiful and memorable occation for you, Harry, and all that attend. Once again, Congratulations! Dee |
Congratulations!

Greeting Sorors/Memberfriends/Greekfriends.
As you probably already know I am getting married this year on the 13th of July. I wanted to know when is the best time to send wedding announcements out.. Now I don't mean wedding invitations, but just announcements so that family and friends can mark thier calender. As we all know July is the month of Family Reunions, Vacations, Weddings, etc... So I want to send them off so that my family and friends can plan accordingly. Also does anyone know of a website that I can go to that includes wedding planning???? Thanks a Bunch!!! :) :) :D |
Congratulations Soror!
Congratulations soror!
Firstly, I love Delta/Alpha weddings. If I married an Alpha, our colors would be Red, Gold, and Black. Beautiful colors. I hope your wedding is on a wedding story because I watch it every opportunity I have. Keep us posted!!!!! Sisterly, Del |
First off Congratulations.
Secondly in response to your question. I did a search on THEKNOT.com and found this article. Hope this helps. Wedding Announcements: A How-to Guide Want to let faraway friends, relatives, and colleagues know you've gotten hitched? Send announcements. Here's our quick and easy guide to saying it with style. WHY SEND THEM? You don't have to send announcements. If everyone you want to tell about your nuptials is at the wedding, there's no need. But if you have a small wedding or tons of extended family, friends, or colleagues, announcements let people who weren't invited know you made it official. Some people view announcements as a gift solicitation, but that's not the case: A wedding announcement is like a newspaper announcement that's directed at specific people. (If anyone does sent you a gift, send a thank-you note right away!) WHO SHOULD GET THEM? Announcements are especially useful if you want to let professional colleagues know you're changing your name because you're now married. If you're having an intimate wedding, there may still be tons of pals and family members you want to tell. If your parents hosted the wedding but have many friends and colleagues who were not invited, they may want to send announcements. HOW SHOULD THEY BE WORDED? Formal announcements are worded like wedding invitations, except that the wedding has already taken place. (You can even match the style, font, and paper of your invitations -- at any rate, they should have the same level of formality.) Your parents can announce your wedding (especially if they hosted it and their names were on the invites) or you two can do the honors. If your parents announce it: Mr. and Mrs. James McDeal have the honor to announce the marriage of their daughter [or "announce the marriage of their daughter"] Samantha Regina to Edward Michael Gallagher Sunday, the first of March Nineteen hundred and ninety-eight St. Thomas Beckett Church Mount Prospect, Illinois If you two announce your own wedding: Samantha Regina McDeal and Edward Michael Gallagher announce their marriage Sunday, the first of March etc. WHEN DO THEY GO OUT? Send announcements on the morning of your wedding day -- or as the old joke goes, on your way from the ceremony to the reception ("Pull over, post office!"). We'll cut you some slack, though: The night before is fine. Just don't send them too soon -- you're announcing an event that has already happened! You could also enlist your mom, maid of honor, or best man to drop them in the mailbox the morning after. -- Tracy L. Guth |
