Pardon my ignorance, but why is IHE such a big deal? It sounded like she was needy, but not especially dangerous.

Oh, she's a little bit of everything. It's not really my story to tell though...

I think it's the fact that she tried to carry on her deception off GC that bothered the most people. If it was just making up a fake personality on GC -- who cares, we've had plenty of those. However, the fact that IHE was so long-running, many people grew to trust and confide in her, she was given a position of authority on the board (mod), and most of all that she tried to meet various GCers in real life as "IowaHawkeye" and not her real self (as well as the fact that she continues to harass a few GCers off the board) -- all of that leads to people being more angry and frustrated than they had if she had just kept it on the board.

While I don't think she's especially violent, she does seem to have a record for harassing/stalking people, and who knows how far that might potentially go someday?

Ok, I think I get it. So it wasn't just a matter of her being non-Greek, or not wanting to reveal her real identity online - it sounds like it was mostly other stuff. For me, GC is mostly a way of procrastinating and also talking to people with different worldviews than mine. I rarely exchange PMs, and trying to meet GC'ers IRL just doesn't seem like a good idea. (No offense, I probably would like many of you if I knew you. But I like boundaries between online and real life interactions.)

The people she has harassed have never been ones that participate in threads like these. She has her own methods of deciding who's worthy of being stalked that have nothing to do with who harasses her back.

Needless to say, I know more about the way the stalking/harassment stuff has played out than you do, hun, so I'm not too worried about being her next target and I don't think anybody else in this thread is either. Those who are worried about it have kept their mouths shut and will probably continue to.
