ROME, Italy (AP) -- The singer once known as Cat Stevens -- branded by the United States as a potential terrorist risk -- has been awarded a peace prize in Rome for his humanitarian work.

Does he get a trophy with all the terrorist organizations he's supported and the terrorist fatwas he supported for killing people?

He received a "Man of Peace" prize at a meeting of Nobel laureates. Not a Nobel Peace Prize.

He exhorted his hearers to donate to the group in order to “lessen the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Palestine and the Holy Land.” In 2000, he was denied entry into Israel for donating thousands to Hamas. Again, Islam denied it all, saying: “I want to make sure that people are aware that I’ve never knowingly supported any terrorist groups — past, present or future. It’s simply an attempt to cast doubt again on my character and good intentions.”

He publicly supported the Ayatollah Khomeini’s death sentence for blasphemy against Salman Rushdie in 1989 (“The Qur’an makes it clear,” said the author of “Peace Train,” that “if someone defames the Prophet, then he must die”).

1) I don't care that he's Muslim. I didn't say anything about that. So don't try and make accusations that are baseless.

2) He didn't win the Nobel peace prize. And by the way terrorists have won the Nobel peace prize, including one who had an old man in a wheelchair pushed off a cruise ship. Just because you came from a country that delights in women being stoned doesn't mean everyone needs to accept this BS.

Actually...I see nothing wrong with him getting the prize. He earned it.

I don't know...he's funded Omar Abdel-Rahman, Hamas, and supported the murder of Salman Rushdie with his words. That doesn't equal a peace prize to me, but maybe I just have a different definition of peace.

Frankly, I find it disturbing that concern about Palestinian human rights is equated with anti-Semitism. Last month, I attended a talk by Hedy Epstein , a Jewish Holocaust survivor who advocates for Palestinians in the West Bank. She basically said that people had stood by and allowed the Holocaust to happen, and she found it unconscionable to stand by and allow the Palestinian's human rights to be violated. I was impressed by what she had to say.

BTW, I was pleased to read that Israel had agreed to remove the settlers from the West Bank.

1) You have ADD and can't concentrate on a topic it seems. Fine. But this thread was about Cat Stephens. You managed to throw this in here and it has nothing to do with anything. The fact that you decided to drop this in here should say something about anti-semitism.

2) I don't care what talk you went to. You obviously know very little about the subject and if you don't know, keep quiet. By the way, Stephen supported terrorist groups.
