How big is your chapter?
This is for locals/ regionals only. I am just curious as to how many ladies or gentlemen are in your chapter? I am curious as to how many actives and new members.
edited because this question is not posted for NPC, NIC, or NPHC groups. That info is easy to look up. |
we have about 15 girls, im not sure exactly are active right now.
definetly the smallest chapter on campus |
We have 27 girls now.
|
Err...nevermind.
Oh, damn, I didn't see that this was on the locals board...I just saw the title and started to post away. http://www.brentroad.com/images/beatup.gif. |
17 at the moment! Smallest, but I'd like to think of it as quality, not quantity.

We have 41 now that this falls pledge class has been brothered in. When we broke with our national in 2000 and were rechartered (its a miracle the school did this) in order to survive combined with a switch to sophomore rush quickly brought numbers down to i think 26.
|
We had quite a bit of girls graduate and last spring we cancelled our pledge class. This semester we took in 4 girls.
So we have 13 girls...definetely small, but so is the school. And like PhoenixAzul said it's quality not quantity. |
Active Members
Sigma Psi Kappa was founded in 1992 so we're quite young. We have initiated 69 sisters 3 of whom are honorary members (mothers and advisors)
We based at NJIT...25% female...so sororities have between 6-25 members. We have 19 active this semester. |
If I'm counting correctly we have 12 active sister now. Well 13 if you count myself, I'm In-Active but I still do more work in and out of the sorority then some of the actives go figure
|
Right now, we have 36 activies, and after greek week this spring, we'll probably have 15 more pledges. We're the biggest sorority on campus. There is a frat here with 6 members, and they are on probation.. If they don't get their numbers up, they'll no longer be a frat :( Sad b/c they're the oldest frat on campus..
|
We have 32 sisters and 14 pledges at the moment. We're looking to bid a few more girls farther into the semester so at the end of the se mester we'll be at 50, the cap for sororities.
|
were at 22 right now which is exactly where we want to be. well almost. after 30 we think we will be too big, so were trying to stay between 20 and 30.
just a little thing for those who think bigger is better. my sorority advisor owns a bar in ypsi and they host parties for u of m sororities. last weekend, a sorority from u of m had a party there and when everyone was getting ready to leave, one of the girls from the sorority came up to one of the girls who works at the bar and was like "come on, we have to get on the bus now". the worker just looked at her and said "hunny, im not in your sorority!" |
This is my first time posting, so I thought I'd try this thread. I'm the President of a local sorority at SMSU. We're at 77 members right now; that's 59 actives and 18 new members. We've been as large as 80 and as small as 23(when we began), but I'm hoping to increase those numbers even more in the fall.
Looking forward to learning lots with this site!!! |
At one time when I was active right before pledging we were down to just having one of my pledge sisters and myself. But now I'm an alumni and I believe there is 9 activies currently and 3 on campus that are under alumni status.
|
w00ps. Forgot to include our FABULOUS new Tau Delta Kittens...with 9 pledges, we're up to 26!!! That's the biggest we've been in years, and we only have graduating seniors.
|
we have 19 actives and 9 pledgeds right now and this is the biggest that we have been in almost 2 years plus no one is goin alum this semester.
|
How big is you chapter?

|
We have 6 actives and 6 new pledges. We haven't been on our campus for a year yet and we are the ONLY and first local, so we are really excited that people are interested in us.
|
We have 19 active members right now. The largest we have ever been is 40 and the smallest was our four founders.
|
I think our active chapter is somewhere around 40.
We had our formal last night, and it seemed a lot bigger. There were a ton of people there. That's always a great thing when your an alum who helped get the thing started :D Ask Earp, he'll tell you. |
yeah for locals!
Hey guys,
We currently have 33 members of our local sorority. We were the first sorority on campus and the only organization from the Lewis Institute still remaining (Lewis merged with Armour to become IIT). This past fall, we inducted 15 pledges (the National on campus only inducted 7 i believe), and initiated 11 of them. ( a few are carrying over next fall). Also, we have 7 pledges for spring rush which is unheard of on our campus. The most anyone ever gets for spring is 2. I think we do a pretty good job without the whole national thing :) . |
We just got three new pledges (on top of our 14), one of which is my grand-little. :-D
This brings us up to 50, which is cap. With 5 Nationals on Campus I think we're pretty damn good, it took a hell of a lot of work, but it paid off. |
chapter #'s
Congrats!
I know how hard it is sometimes to go up against nationals... but hey.. quality always overrules! |
that's right...quantity doesn't necessarily constitute quality....
that's what i remind me and my sisters during recruitment. because while we're at a school with 25% girls..and most of them commuters. The largest sororities on campus are around 20 girls. but average is about 15 actives. So when we're recruiting girls it's sometimes hard to not think about trying to get as many girs as possible. but what we try to do is get as many quality girls as possible. IF you dont' recruit quality girls, then you won't end up with a quality sisterhood. local love! |
National perspective
Hey, I'm in a national group and just wanted to encourage all the locals to keep going strong. I'm a memebr of the second largest sorority in the country (DZ) but my chapter has less than most of yours! We had 6 when I got in and now have 12. So you can keep up with us nationals.
As far as the locals on my campus: Chi Alpha Tau sorority (founded 1979, i think): 12-14 Sigma Phi Delta sorority(founded in 1972, i believe): about 30 Omicron Gamma Omega fraternity (oldest fraternity still around on our campus, founded 1966): they have like 1 or 2 actual active brothers and are unfortunately going to die off. They havent had any pledges make it through in about 2 years. I think they've only had 1 or 2 pledges in that time. They all dropped because they hazed horribly and physically. Its sad cuz they ahev alot of great alumni who come back and are involved and they have some deep rooted tradition-they've fired a cannon made by their founders in 1966 after each touchdown at each homecomign game for the past 39 years. |
im in a local fraternity that was started in keene state in 1985
21 active brothers, 11 finished pledging this spring. |
I'm pretty sure we have like 6 actives this semester, we got hit hard of transfers, :(
|
We have 25 active members this semester and 4 pledges. Fraternities and sororities aren't allowed to pledge first-semester freshman, otherwise we would have had 11-12 pledges. We'll make up for it in the spring though.
|
Currently my chapter has 9 active members and 8 pledges. Active numbers are down because they have not had recruitment for a year. The Greek community at our school pretty much sucks and is given no support by the university. Delta Phi Epsilon went under this past year which leaves us and Phi Sigma Sigma for sororities. :(
|
our members
We have 27 that are currently enrolled. 2 of them are inactive. We have 11 alumni I believe, so that puts us at 38 all together.

we just put through a pledge class of 6 go through this fall... we have 16 active which is the most since i have finished.
when i pledged in fall 04 and there were 4 of us we only had 8 actives... we were all first semester freshmen.. since we are disaffiliated from our school for 10 years, we can take first semester freshmen but we didnt start that until fall 2001. being dissafiliated is hard tho because we cant hold rushes on campus or post our letters on campus.. so all of our recuitment is from us sisters talking us up to any one and everyone and allllll by word of mouth. |
exactly... so here is the story...
ten yrs ago my sorority got in trouble for not serving an alternative beverage at a rush. (our rushes are very informal and are basically just parties with just our sorority, a frat and alll of our rushees.) so when we got in trouble, the punishment was to not have a pledge class for 2 yrs which would leave us with 4 sisters and we would have died completely. so instead of taking the punishment, in order to save our sorority, we had to disaffiliate ourselves from our school. which means we have no ties with the school. we are still allowed to attend greek senate but we have no vote and also we can go to all of the greek events on campus but our letters wont be printed on anything the school puts out about greeks and we cant post on campus. when we decided to disaffiliate with the school, in our support the rest of the greeks help a parade in our honor. we were disaffiliated before i joined. we were at once the largest sorority on my campus and we got small but are getting bigger, we just finished 6 girls. there are 3 disaffiliated organizations at my campus, one is trying to reaffiliate with the school because they have only been disaffiliated for 3 yrs. as you can see our campus makes it really hard for greeks to stay affiliated and the fact that we are local and still going strong for 10 yrs is pretty awesome. |
its not as bad as it some would think. we still have all the elements we had prior to our dissaffililation. now basically we do it on our own.
at our campus we had a phi kappa theta but they disaffiliated (i dont know what happened) and are now phi kappa omega. we are still recognized by all of our greek peers. |
At the end of last fall we had 50, graduated 14, so 36 now.. and we only do spring rush, so hopefully more soon!
|
how big is your chapter
Phi Omega of UW-Stevens Point currently has 19 actives, 1 inactive sister, 3 "active" alumni, and for this spring semester we have 5 rushed!
:) |
I'm an alum of a local GLO at UGA. After Rush this spring semester, the chapter has about 32 active members.
|
mmmm yea...KSC is a bitch when it comes to greek life! This semester they want to get rid of it all. But we're going to fight for it. We were 23 members, and just got a new PC of 5, which brings us up to 28 active members!
We got lucky because my PC were 14 pledges, which was the biggest they ever had, so hopefully our numbers will keep growing. We're the Co-ed Fraternity/Sorority on campus so it draws in a good group. |
This spring we had three pledge classes which brings the Omicron Lambda Pi count to a total of 30 women initiated since we were founded in 2003!
