How is the voter turnout where you live?
How long did you wait to vote?
I went to vote at 6:00 AM this morning and there was a very long line waiting in the rain. Drove by at 10:30 and the line was just as long. This is a very small precinct and I have never waited longer than 10 minutes in the past. |
I haven't checked my local precinct, but I betcha there were long lines. Thankfully, I voted early to avoid the lines. Over 150,000 people in Collin County (north of Dallas) took advantage of early voting this year.
|
Instead of going in at 7AM like I've done for the past 2 years for everything (schoolboard, citycouncil, sales tax, etc), I slept in and went in at 10AM. One of the poll workers even commented "you didnt come in at 7 so I thought you moved!" Was # 390 for my precinct (Ames has 20 precincts for total-population of 50,000, not sure what the voting population is)
|
Got in line at 7:10 (polls opened at 7:00) finally voted and left the precinct at 9:10. First time I've voted here, so I cannot say what the turn out is.
|
I voted Early.
My fiance's parents went at 6:30 (right when they opened) and were 26 in line. When they left, it was a huge gathering My father road by a different place at 8 and decided to come back because of the line My Friends father was an hour early for the polls opening and was 18 in line. It was a four hour wait in Wilmington NC when he left |
I am going right now. I'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully, I will be back by 3:00.
|
I voted at 9:00 this morning and there was a line; I waited about twenty minutes. Usually I vote at 3:00 PM with no line, so I'm not sure how this compares to previous voter turn out but I would say it was pretty good considering the severe thunderstorms this morning.
|
I was voter #50. But there are a bunch of different polling places in Sacramento and my "district" is pretty small.
|
I went around 11:00, I walked in and out. I was happy I didn't have to wait in line.
|
The line at the polling place at San Diego State Univeristy is LONG. It took me an hour just to get to the front of the place.
mmmmmm...I remember seeing it so barren in 2000... |
i voted at 6:30am. i was #28 at my machine.
i walked in and out in 5 minutes. |
I waited in line just over an hour.
|
10 minutes.
|
I was voter 700 at my polling place. Waited around 50 minutes, very long line. It's only going to get worse, i'm sure.
|
Like AlphaSig said, voting in the DFW area is up by ginormous amounts !!!!
The early voting itself set record numbers. Which isn't really surprising considering the voters registration was up abou 250% this year in the U.S. (at least that was what was heard on the radio) I voted early.. go me! |
I voted between 2:30 and 3:00. I was in and out in a few minutes once I figured out exactly where to vote. They had four different machines in one room, and I was directed to a wrong one by mistake. It was quickly resolved and not a problem. I have been very fortunate that in all of my years of voting I have never had a serious problem. The workers have been extremely helpful and very well informed. I'm not sure what number voter I was.

The lines at my school's voting place was packed!
|
It wasn't too bad here. I went at around 8am on my way to work. The most difficult part was finding a parking spot at the polling place, which has a TINY parking lot... I parked in a spot of questionable legality ;) and when I pulled out, someone else had taken the spot before I'd finished backing out! Once inside, I waited less than five minutes.
I drove past my polling place about an hour ago, and it looked to be about the same. No long lines out the door or anything. |
<-------- worked the polls!!
At 5:30pm, 80% of the registered voters in my district had voted! This is completely unprecidented, and from what I heard (as a poll worker, I cannot campaign), anyone who calls it one way or another is a major risk taker! |
I haven't voted yet, my mother and I always go together after she's done with work.
My sister's a precinct official, and right now it's 2:45 PM, and almost half of the residents in our district have already shown up and voted! Everyone on Oahu's paying close attention to our Mayoral Race. I have a feeling it's going to be neck and neck till the end. |
So far , It's been a good turnout here. I arrive at the polls at 7:30 and there was a long line already.
|
I went at 7:30 this morning, and the line was a little long. I asked some folks who were just coming out how long it took them and they had gotten in line at 6:30. It took me 40 minutes, took my daughter 20, but she went in at 8:30.
I live in a beach town in North Florida - NO one exit polled our precinct. In fact, NO one I know was exit polled anywhere in Florida. I'm not sure who they asked or where they went to do this polling that the pundits are talking about tonight. BUT...everyone of my family and friends live in areas that you could say are Republican. Maybe they were looking for a different mix or some areas where there might be more "excitement"? |
I went at noon, was #380 for the precinct-- usually I go at the end of the day and I am usually in the low 100s.
ohh forgot to add-- i was exit polled. First time I have ever seen anyone at our polling station. |
Quote:
I meant to add: in my district, there are 78 absentee ballots, and when I left, 12 provisional ballots. SEVENTY EIGHT!!!! For those who have never been poll workers, absentee ballots cannot be opened until after the polls are closed, and are a royal pain to count - when there are only a few. It's one of the reasons that I take all "counts" prior to two hours or more after the polls close with a grain of salt. |
At the polling place I went to in Chester County (West Chester), I heard that there were lines around the building at 6:30 AM. Mind you, the polls don't open in PA until 7:00 AM.
When I went to vote at 4:00 PM, my friend and I only had to wait about 30 mins. :) |
In the last Presidential election, I was Voter #636.
Today, I waited almost an hour in line and was Voter #1286 :D ! Polls in Hawai`i are supposed to close in 2 minutes (6PM HST), but I have a feeling many are going to stay open till 8PM because I just got home, and the line wrapped around the parking lot, into the playground, and onto the street! |
I went at around 6:30 tonight. I was voter #478. Usually I am in the 300s at that time.
Voter turnout was unbelievable in the Chicago area. Here's a story about it from the Tribune. |
From what the news station is saying here in San Diego after interviewing the registrar of voters, San Diego county may have had their largest turnout of voters EVER this year, which is exciting to hear :)
But then again, looking at the numbers who voted this morning when I was there, I'm not surprised! :D |
