I like movies, but mostly the ones that have me mad at first but then crying. I love sad and love stories like Love and Basketball. Not really a comedy person. I usually do not go to the movies I wait for them to come out on video. You can hear it better at home.
Do you also like plays? Well I like going to gospel plays eventhough they can become a little expensive but they be worth it. The last play I saw was Be Careful What You Pray For. It was very good. It is on tour at the moment so if it comes in your area this is a must see. Shirley Murdock, Steve Urkel's twin sister, a comedian that has been on comicview, and other people are cast in the play. I recommend this to everyone especially if you are one that love Gospel plays.

I have seen that last spring adn it was excellent. I loved the nerdy girl and the whole story line. I want to see Fred Hammond's play. It will be here in one month.

Hey everyone!
It's been a while since my last post so HOOOOOWDY-HOOOOOOO! to all sorority members and sisterfriends. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Everyone one already knows that the sequel to the Matrix is being taped in Australia. For those that like the hbo series OZ, the character Adebesi will also be seen in Return of the Mummy. Not the same character, just the actor.:-D I know there is a Harry Potter movie due out in the fall. I did know about the Josie and the Pussycats movie b/c I was buying a a t-shirt (in the village) with the cartoon logo on it and one of the people working in the store told me that some chick shopping in the store said she was working on the set of the film. Can you say run-on sentence? :-D TTFN

COUNTDOWN to the BROTHERS' PREMIERE this Friday!!

CrimsonTide4 04-18-2001 06:55 PM

I just read that SCOOBY DOO is headed for a theater near you starring Freddie Prinze, Jr and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

It's amazing how many of our childhood cartoons are now becoming Big Screen attractions. There was the Flintstones, Rocky and Bullwinkle, and Josie and the Pussycats.

NEW QUESTION: Which cartoons would you like to see hit the big screen, if any??

I would like to see the Smurfs, Woody Woodpecker, Tom & Jerry, and the Jetsons.
Some might be too difficult but where there is a will there is a way.

I have only seen information about it on the Black Planet's home page. It comes out tomorrow? Hmm. Rae Dawn Chong is also in the movie.

UPDATE:
Based on a play inspired by a true story, the family drama THE VISIT is a heart-warming story of one man`s triumphant journey from despair to love and ultimate redemption.

Alex Waters (Hill Harper) has been sentenced for 25 years for rape: a crime which he insists that he did not commit. Abandoned by his family and left to his fate, Alex fantasizes of escaping his cell and traveling on the trains that run past the prison walls.

Weekly sessions with prison psychiatrist Dr. Coles (Phylicia Rashad) give Alex the courage to face his personal demons. Alex`s wish to mend his fractured relationships with his family - his successful older brother, Tony (Obba Babatundé); his loving mother Lois (Marla Gibbs) and his domineering, unforgiving father, Henry (Billy Dee Williams) - begins when he asks Tony to help him bridge the gap with their parents.

His dream of a better life is strengthened with the reappearance of his childhood friend Felicia (Rae Dawn Chong). With love and compassion, Felicia inspires Alex to reconnect with the idea of spiritual and emotional freedom. Alex is ultimately able to chart a new course that changes forever the fate of those of love him and their memories of him.

Hello, wonderful people!

I cannot wait for Jerry Bruckheimer's PEARL HARBOR, due out on Memorial Day 2001. People have already dubbed it "The Next Titanic", and I can see why. Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Ben Affleck head the stellar cast! We all know what took place at Pearl Harbor, but I can predict that many people will be swooning over the love story.

My home overlooks the harbor, so I was fortunate to witness some of the taping of the flight sequences.

The world premiere is going to take place on May 21st aboard the USS John Stennis (an aircraft carrier) in Pearl Harbor. You can bet money that I'm going to try and use my military connections to be one of those 2,000 invited guests!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I saw The Visit, and that movie is very thought provoking and deep. It really does make you think and look at your own life. This is a movie that I think everyone should try and go see. And it is based on a true story.

If you have seen the movie, what did you think about it? One other thing, after leaving the theater I got into my car and started it. Then I just shut the car engine off and sat there for a moment. That is how deep the movie was. All I'm saying is y'all need to check this flick out.

Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg scrub up for ``Wash''

By Dana Harris

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Rappers Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg will play mismatched roommates in ``The Wash'' an urban comedy set against the backdrop of a busy car wash.

The duo will also serve as executive producers and supply the music. Dr. Dre's potty-mouthed protege, Eminem (news - web sites), will make an appearance.

Production starts Monday in Los Angeles, with a wide theatrical release planned this winter via Lions Gate.

D.J. Pooh, who co-wrote the box office hit ``Friday'' with Ice Cube, will direct from his own script. Pooh, aka Mark Jordan, made his directorial debut last year with the comedy ``3 Strikes,'' which he also wrote and produced.

Now I know watching partial of the making of matrix 2 they said that trinity will be in it, but she couldn't shoot for a couple of weeks because she had broken her foot. (the movie wouldn't be right without her or neo even with a new person playing her it wouldn't be right) I didn't know that jada was in the movie? I often wondered who they would replace aliyah with, or how would they continue her character for the movie. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I hope it is as good as the first one, cause lawd knows I know that movie WORD FOR WORD.

speaking of movies, I am excited for Men in black 2 to come out. I am into sci-fi, so i REEEEEEEALLY LOOK FORWARD to seeing it.

It was pretty okay. I LOOOOOOOOOVE Al Pacino, so he redeemed the movie for me. I was expecting something suspenseful with twists and turns. Not in this movie. It was not bad, but also not what I was in the mood for. I would recommend Unfaithful instead. It was the bomb!

Oh MaNessa...

The best word I could come up with to describe "Enough" was...SH*TTY.

I'm not really a J-Lo fan, but a few of my friends were getting together to go to the movies yesterday and the one guy of the group picked "Enough" as the movie. By the end, we were hitting him and telling him that we want our money back! J-Lo needs to stick to light comedy (I liked her in The Wedding Planner). Or maybe it wasn't her fault, but the script/producer/director - her character just seemed so STUPID to me!!

UDZETA 06-05-2002 04:20 PM

I thought "enough" was a great movie. I thought Jenifer Lopez did a wonderful job. The movie may have been a litte over dramatic but thats what makes a movie. It was nice to a women learning to defined herself and protect her family. So many women have husbands that beat them and they are too scared to do anything about it. We a women "run away" a lot of times the husband will do whatever it takes to stop her and if that means killing her to do that he will. I think this movie showed that and it also showed how two faced a man can be when it comes to his wife and the kids. I liked this movie and maybe it will get some women and girls into self-defense classes. Every person, man and women should learn how to defend themselves. Thats my two cents.

SweetestDiva 06-05-2002 05:08 PM

I liked "Enough."

I'm really waiting on "Lilo and Stitch," the one about the alien who befriends that little girl.. please tell me y'all have seen the preview where the animals hold him up and sing "Circle of Life" and then they're like, "Hey, that's not Simba!" I guess I'm the only one who thought "Enough" was convoluted...me and my friends anyway. I guess I just can't understand how someone can get hit in the face and not press charges - I know it happens every day, but I still can't understand it. If a man hits me, then he's goin' down for assault and battery, and Imma have the photos of me with my black eye in the POLICE REPORT. Like that lawyer told her, she had more than one occasion to go to the police, but she let him intimidate her into not going. She didn't want to go to a shelter because "she didn't want to expose her daughter", but she dragged the kid all over the place otherwise? Man, I kept thinking, "That kid is going to need some SERIOUS therapy in the future." And when she finally got herself (somewhat) out of the guy's clutches, what does she do...CALL her ex boyfriend so he can come visit, and of course her nutso husband can find her now. It was just nuts to me.

I do agree that everyone should learn how to defend themselves though.

CrimsonTide4 06-14-2002 09:44 AM

Last night I finally went to see these 2 movies at the 50 cents theater and MY GOD, I was on such an emotional roller coaster. I was actually pretty glad that Ideal08 did not come with me because we both would have been boohooing LOUDLY on John Q. I was in the theater wiping my face with some hard ass napkins. I was in awe at how Denzel played that role for real.

I still have not seen TRaining Day but JOHN Q should have been the Oscar for Denzel. Brotha played a role like no other on that one.

Monster's Ball started off slow but I warmed up to it. I don't know if I could have stayed with that man after I realized his connection to my former husband but it was pretty good. Not Oscar good, IMO, but good nonetheless.

Hmm, looks like I have more movie catching up to do than I thought. Murder By Numbers looks like it will be a good one. It stars Sandra Bullock and one of my favorites from Remember the Titans.

I saw the preview for HIGH CRIMES with Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman. I want to see that as well. I had not been to the show in a good little while.

I went and saw Scooby Doo last weekend and it totally sucked. There are just no words to describe how bad that movie was. And I just heard that there is going to be a sequel. Why? Why? Why?

I agree...Halloween needs to just GO AWAY.

Has anyone actually seen "Lilo and Stitch yet?" I'd like to go see that one, but not sure...it looks funny and cute. Opinions are welcome!

I am going to see both "Mr. Deeds" (the Adam Sandler flick) and MIB 2...I have been waiting on MIB especially, but I also enjoy the stupidness of Adam Sandler. Looking forward to both!

Maybe I missed it...but I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Spiderman" yet. I thought that was a great movie! Any thoughts on that one?
