Eminem Political Video

It's for the song Mosh....I LOVED it.

TheEpitome1920 10-30-2004 02:35 PM

I'm not much of an Em fan but I also enjoyed this video!

Jill1228 10-30-2004 02:42 PM

I LOVE IT! (Yes I am a fan) :)

smiley21 10-30-2004 03:26 PM

i saw it on MTV and i think it is incredible. reminds me that he is still a genius.

DeltaSigStan 10-30-2004 03:34 PM

Bill O'Reilly tried to take it to task, but his guest (former Vibe writer) Kevin Powell used O'Reilly's tactic of never letting the other get in a word in edgewise against him.

Munchkin03 10-30-2004 03:53 PM

Damn.

That's all I have to say.

phigamucsb 10-30-2004 04:20 PM

I actually saw the O'Reilly interview you speak of and Mr. Powell made no good points. He actually believed that this video could make a difference in the election. In my opinion, young individuals that would be influenced by this sort of video probably don't vote.

I could go so many ways with that remark, but why bother? Instead, I will just offer this:

ZTAngel 10-30-2004 06:19 PM

Wow, I got chills from that video. I always liked Eminem but my respect for him just doubled.

Kevin Powell, to me, beat around the bush and kept repeating the same thing about Eminem having the right as an entertainer to make a political stance. But still, Bill O'Reilly's ignorance and stubborness regarding rap and hip-hop is so ridiculous that I just can't entertain anything he says about the matter.

KappaKittyCat 10-30-2004 07:43 PM

I can't stand rap or hip-hop in general.

I can't stand Eminem in particular.

I loved the "Mosh" video.

Got the balls to explain this comment further?

I bet not.

I could go the way of the other posters in this thread and ask you to explain this, but I won't.

Instead, I will say that that is exactly THE POINT. I think that a lot of the young voters who may not have been paying attention to politics may take a second look after seeing this video. This goes for both sides -- some kids will be motivated by Eminem's stand against Bush, others will be incensed by it. Either way, if it gets them to the polls I'm all for it.

Hell you know what he is saying...he doesn't have the balls to explain it but you know he's saying.

smiley21 10-31-2004 09:17 AM

why does he need to have to back it up? i thought his comment referred to the fact a lot of Eminem's fan base is under 18. of course, the are tons of fans over 18 and are voting. and i must admit that i took the video to heart. i just do not understand why everyone is jumping over phigamucsb.

it was just a comment people. now please do not jump all over me.

He said "don't vote" not "can't vote".....I would be inclined to agree with you had he said "can't" or "ineligible." But he didn't.

kddani 10-31-2004 09:48 AM

smiley, as senusret said, if he said can't and not don't, I'd be more inclined to agree with you. But he didn't.

It's also not the first time he's posted a bigoted, hateful comment. If it was, i'd give him the benefit of a doubt, but it's not.

I also don't think i'd agree that most of Eminem's fan base is under 18.

i did not say 'most'. i said 'alot'. even i know that it is not most

amgn253 10-31-2004 08:05 PM

I loved this video. It is extremely powerful.

James 10-31-2004 09:13 PM

I haven't seen the video, but it would be safe to say that voter turn-out in the 18-21 crowd is not traditionally high.

I have no idea if the video will motivate more people to vote or not.

I thought it was stupid...

I think Eminem is a dumbass. He is just as guilty as the people he makes fun of. Like Rudey said....he only does this controversial shit to get attention and make a buck... Oh, and....his voice is soooo annoying.

I'm sure that Eminem is very concerned about your opinion. Would you like to tell me what he is guilty of?

Yes I will, we can chat over IM. I want hottytoddy to defend her answers without ANY HELP from you, Rudith.

hottytoddy 11-01-2004 06:56 PM

OK I don't want to get in some kind of heated discussion about this because it is pointless. Some people like him some people don't but the truth is...he is just like some of the "pop stars" he makes fun of.. He is nothing but a product marketing himself through controversy. He is nothing but a brilliant marketing scheme just like that of Britney Spears, etc.

I know you could argue all day that he is an actual artist that writes these brilliant poems. And I am not denying that he is a talented writer. But at the end of the day everything he does is just a marketing tool. And I don't buy it. But some people do.

Remember that time that he was at that award show (I can't remember what it was--VMA's maybe?) and I think it was that dog from Conan was taunting him and he got all pissed. He can dish it out in all directions...but he couldn't take it...even from a PUPPET!! It was funny.

End of discussion for me. I am not going to argue about Eminem. It is not worth any more of my time because I am not going to change anyone's mind...and no one is going to change mine. I don't like him-and other people do...

The difference between Eminem and Britney is the Em is the one making his own decisions for himself. Britney has been the puppet of the marketing industry for most of her career. Em markets his own image; Brit doesn't. Em pimps himself out, Britney gets pimped out. Etc. . . .

And I like Britney more than I like Eminem, by the way.

I don't see what the above has to do with this video whatsoever.

SapphireSphinx9 11-01-2004 08:29 PM

i like the video! i even made my mom, who HATES eminem, watch it.... even she liked it!

steelepike 11-01-2004 08:29 PM

I am not impressed. Eminem stick to rapping about beating your wife cause you know nothing about political songs.

phigamucsb 11-01-2004 08:40 PM

Hey kddani, I am not a bigot. Find me one of these so called bigoted comments that I have made. I have never gone on this site and accused anyone of being racist or bigoted, nor do I think anyone else should. By the way kddani we are not running for office so you can stop the baseless personal attacks.

To explain my comment, I meant that anyone that would use an Eminem video to make a political decision probably won't take the time to show up at the polls. I'm sorry but entertainers have a place and it is certainly not in the political arena.

So they don't belong as Governors? Or Governators?

Interesting, considering the quote in your signature.

sugar and spice 11-01-2004 09:15 PM

Exactly, Kath.

It's funny that everyone I've ever seen complaining about entertainers in politics is not only a Republican, but has no problem with Ahhhnold or Reagan.

Entertainers are Americans too. They have just as much of a right to express their political opinion as any of the rest of us do.

Eminem holds public office?

If so I can understand his shifting focus away from Kerry's vote for the war in Iraq...otherwise this might all be about how much money Em can make.

The Phi Gam guy says that entertainers have no place in politics. I pointed out two entertainers who have a place in politics in his own state.

Why are you shifting focus away from his errors?
