Spring '05 Sorority Recruitment at UGA

Does anyone know when The University of Geogia does Spring recruitment, I heard most sororities on campus don't participate, but does anyone know who generally does? I'd heard that Theta does,
Just wondering, Thanks!

zuzu575 11-03-2004 01:46 PM

I'm sure DG (Delta Iota) will because of their low fall numbers. Keep checking their website they'll likely have any spring recruitment dates up soon.

FSUZeta 11-03-2004 10:06 PM

contact the panhellenic office, or the greek life office. they will know who, if anyone, is having cor in the spring, can give you tentative dates and probably add you to the list. if you know now who will be recruiting, you can work on securing recommendations to those sororities. every little bit helps!!

mmcat 11-04-2004 12:37 AM

* Just a question..it seems like recruitment is so short at many of these schools..not even a week long. Why is that? Is it easier due to the amount of people going through the process?

:)

Speaking from my experience when I went through (Jan. 2000), there were less than 100 women going through recruitment, and the parties were broken up to where we had our long day the day before classes started, then the next two days were one round, and then we were doing the final two rounds of recruitment on a Friday and Saturday night, so recruitment only took us 5 days. Each university is different, and I wouldn't presume to talk about other schools, but this system worked well for our sororities :)

At Elon, we have a "fake break" the last week of January. We have a winter term in between fall and spring terms, which is when a lot of students study abroad or take a fun class. After winter term, students have a week off until spring semester starts, except for those who are participating in sorority recruitment. So recruitment at Elon is 5 full days, which is great because it doesn't conflict with classes.

Seriously, I have no idea!!
Its always been that way...(greek life started on our campus in 1907) parties are spread out so you could have 4 parties a week for 5 weeks if you wanted. Ultimately recruitment is partying, and who throws the best ones. Let me tell you, our campus' greek system is "unique" to say the least. I kinda wish we had rules and limitations on how recruitment went. I wish our recruitment period was dry and non-alcoholic. I wish we had Rho Chis too. I like how its a mutual selection at many schools, and each night is focused on something like a philanthropy, or sisterhood. (Lets just say I am a tad bit envious of you all) ;)

*Note, our events are non-alcoholic in compliance with our HQ :)

roqueemae 01-05-2005 07:37 PM

I can't imagine alcoholic rush to be in compliance with any HQ's standards.

Thats why I said ours is non-alcoholic per national headquarters. I didn't want to assume that every (national) org had non-alcoholic recruitment events. All the other sororities on our campus are local, therefore, they can have alcoholic events since they have no national HQ.

Make more sense?
