Edelweiss, edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white
Clean and bright
You look happy to meet me

AGDee 10-25-2004 08:38 AM

How do you solve a problem like Maria?

(I've got all these darn songs going through my head now!)

Funny tidbit... When I first graduated from college and was living in an apartment, my car was broken into during the night. They took all my cassettes except for two (they didn't just grab the cassette case and go.. they actually went through them).. The Sound of Music Soundtrack and a Weird Al tape..lol

Climb every mountain, search high and low
Follow every bi-way, every path you know...

Yes I am a sound of music junkie! :D One of my favorite Alpha Phi songs is sung to the tune of "Edelweiss"

Marry her to a rich Austrian man!

(I love that they reprise the song during Maria's wedding)

ZTAngel 10-25-2004 11:08 AM

How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?

cntryZTA5 10-25-2004 12:30 PM

When the dog bites,
When the bee stings,
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
and then I don't feel so bad!

Dough, the stuff that buys the beer
Ray, the guy who sells me beer
Me, the guy that drinks the beer
Far, the distance to my beer
So . . . I think I'll have a beer
La la la la la la beer
Tea? No thanks, I'll have a beer
That will bring us back to . . . doh.

NutBrnHair 10-25-2004 05:57 PM

Hahaha, I LOVE that song, only my friends and I usually sing it as "that leaves me with no dough, dough dough dough"

tinydancer 10-25-2004 10:30 PM

I was in a local production of The Sound of Music playing Frau Schmidt, the housekeeper. One of the stagehands insisted on calling me Frau Blucher, like from Young Frankenstein! Fun times...

We have an Alpha Xi one to the tune of "Edelweiss"! I really like the sound of it, but I can't carry a tune so I hate trying to sing it!

I've been on a "Sound of Music" tour in Salzburg. Hi, I'm a dork. ;) I saw the gazebo from the "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" scene, the houses they used for the back and the front of the von Trapp's place (2 different ones), the church where they got married, some of the sites in Salzburg, etc.

_Opi_ 10-26-2004 09:42 AM

Oh my gosh, I love this movie....

ADPi has a version, too - when sung in the rounds, it's absolutely beautiful! *sings to self*

I am SOOOOOOO jealous!!!!!!! I would love to go on that tour!! I'd also like to see their lodge in Vermont (?).

33girl 10-26-2004 10:09 AM

ASA has one too. We never sang it at my chapter so when we broke into it at convention it was all I could do not to say "blossom of snow, may you bloom and grow..."

honeychile 10-26-2004 10:14 AM

"Perhaps I had a wicked childhood
Perhaps I had a miserable youth
But somewhere in my wicked, miserable past
There must have been a moment of truth
For here you are, standing there
Loving me
Whether or not you should
So somewhere in my youth or childhood
I must have done something good"
