Men Nail Conservative Ann Coulter With Pies

TUCSON, Ariz. -- It appears they didn't like what conservative columnist Ann Coulter had to say.

Two men ran on stage and threw custard pies at Coulter as she was giving a speech at the University of Arizona Thursday night. Coulter was hit in the shoulder. The men were arrested by university police.

In her half-hour speech, Coulter trashed Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, liberals and Democrats, while praising conservative students who attended her speech.

Coulter writes a column for Universal Press Syndicate. Her appearance was sponsored by the UA College Republicans

These guys are American heros ;)

Here's the video

heh. Reminds of what some Iowans did to another bitch in another era.

phigamucsb 10-23-2004 02:10 AM

They're not heros, they're morons. I'm a conservative and even I would feel bad if this happened to Al Franken or Michael Moore. I wouldn't be suprised if these two guys were given stiff punishments.

Sistermadly 10-23-2004 02:18 AM

Shoot, had it have been me, I wouldn't have missed. ;)

moe.ron 10-23-2004 02:45 AM

Congratulation to Ann Coulter. She make's Tori Spelling looks decent.

This type of behavior is wrong no matter what your political beliefs.

While I agree that this was wrong and the 2 guys should have been bigger men and should have handled their "issues" with her in a different and more appropriate manner...rather than assulring her...it's still kind of funny...I mean it's a pie! They obviously had no intention of causing her serious harm, just embarassment.

I remember when our Prime Minister, Jean Chretien was hit in the face witha pie...even he could laugh it off.

damasa 10-23-2004 11:49 AM

Yea stiff punishments for a pie!

Anyway I just saw the video and I thought her reaction was priceless man, the way she went running off the stage = roofles.

Not the best way to go about things but it sure gave me quite the laugh.

Munchkin03 10-23-2004 12:02 PM

Okay, it's silly.

But this sort of thing happens all the time, especially in the public eye. It's a P-I-E. About 8 years ago, SF Mayor Willie Brown was pelted with pies by a group. I don't think they got "stiff punishments," even though he was an actual elected official.

Phasad1913 10-23-2004 12:09 PM

It was hilarious.

PhiPsiRuss 10-23-2004 12:27 PM

It was highly illiberal, and shows a tremendous disrespect for the fundamental principles which formed the ideological concensus of this nation's founding.

So much for a free and dispassionate discourse of ideas.

Sistermadly 10-23-2004 12:59 PM

Who was it that was pelted with cream puffs? I can't seem to remember.

Peaches-n-Cream 10-23-2004 01:02 PM

She looks too skinny, but she sure can run fast.

I think Bill Gates was pelted with a pie also a few years ago.

AnchorAlum 10-24-2004 02:07 PM

Get over it, Annie! It comes with the territory - and look at all the free pub!

Throwing things at someone can be battery and that is a punishable offense. Stupid ass way to make your point if you want to be taken seriously at all. They just hurt their position I think.

And I would have run off the stage too. Yes it was just a pie-we know that now. But I am sure in the heat of the moment she wasn't sure what they hell was going on. How does she know it didn't have acid or some other chemical in it.

What position?

There's, from what I've read, not much "political" behind this.

Pike1483 10-24-2004 08:03 PM

apparently the mofos were charged with a felony, which I find hilarious:

"Smith, a UA student, and Wolff were charged with criminal damage, a felony, and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, vandalism, and assault without injury. The felony charge resulted from damage to a backdrop that school officials estimated at $3000."

While I do think it was stupid to throw pie, and I'm actually a big fan of Coulter's, I do see the humor in it.

There's something about her that turns me on....don't know what it is.

Ann Coulter should have eaten the pies, then she wouldn't look like Skeletor.

But according to Dr. Atkins if there are any carbs she'll be 500lbs by the end of the week.

wait... then she can get job as a Subway spokesperson.

WTF? Those guys have the worst aim I have ever seen? What a bunch of nancies… If you are going to go onstage and pelt someone with a pie, freaking hit the person, they were too interested in getting off of the stage. They should have streaked the event or something. The pie idea was stupid considering they didn’t even try to do it right.

Plus, these days, sadly, throwing a pie at a public figure should be met with very high penalties... It just has to be that way. Too many freaks out there...

I do find it funny that activists like this are always shouting for freedom of speech and freedom of opinion, but then get upset when someone disagrees with them... So comical.
