Alpha Phi Roll Call...
Alpha Phi Roll Call...
Hey Ladies, This thread is inspired by the one the illustrious Carnation started in the Pi Beta Phi forum. She always has the awesome ideas. Anyway, we have so many new Alpha Phis on the boards, it would be great if we could do a roll call of all of us here. When you reply, list your chapter, school, year joined, status, current offices, alum clubs (past or present), and why you chose Alpha Phi. Chapter: Epsilon Omega School: Texas A&M University Year joined: 1991 Status: Alumnae Current offices: Advisor to Texas Tech Chapter of Alpha Phi; Webmaster for Texas Tech chapter of Alpha Phi; working with various other Alpha Phi chapters on their websites. Alum clubs in past or present: Houston Area Alpha Phi Alumnae; Lubbock Alpha Phi Alum group; Atlanta Alpha Phi Alumnae Why I chose Alpha Phi: From the moment I walked through the door of the Alpha Phi house, I knew it had to be Alpha Phi. I just felt "home." I held my breath every day praying my roommate and I would be asked back. Thank God we were. We were pledge sisters together, we were roommates at the house for three years. Alpha Phi changed my life and is one of the best things in my life to this day. Alpha Phi is forever. |
Chapter: Beta Delta
School: UCLA Year joined: Fall 1992 Status: Alumna Alum clubs in past or present: Greater Los Angeles Alum Group Why I chose Alpha Phi: Alpha Phi impressed me from the moment I first saw our rush chair. Alpha Phi had the friendliest, most easy going members on the row. They were bright, attractive and self-confident and made me want to be a part of their sisterhood. They made me wish I didn't have to leave their rush parties. |
Chapter: Eta Theta
School: San Francisco State University Year Joined: Spring 1997 Status: Alum Current Offices: I was the "Unofficial" Rush Advisor last semester while my chapter was between advisors. As a collegiate, I was President, VP Program Development, VP Recruitment (twice), Panhellenic Secretary, Director of COB, and Director of Chapter Events. Alum Clubs: I haven't officially joined any yet, but I've attended events with the Bay Bridge Young Alumnae group. Why I Chose Alpha Phi: As soon as I met Alpha Phi I found a sense of unity and sisterhood. I walked into their Pref party and I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of their circle. They were all so friendly and fun. They were the perfect fit fo rme and I will always know that I made one of the best decisions of my life that night. |

OK...I'm not an Alpha Phi but I just found out that one of my closest friends from high school is an Alpha Phi. She is a sister from Bishop University (it may be Bishop's...not completely sure) in Quebec. It was so great to find out that she joined a sorority...she was the last person I thought would join a sorority. She was really shocked that I even pronounced Phi right. LOL. I just wanted to share that with all of y'all!!!!

Hey everyone!!!
chapter: Iota Beta School: St. Mary's University Year joined: SP 2002 open bidding Status: Active Collegiate Member Current Offices: Director of Letter Apparel (fall 2002) NPC Delegate (Fall 2002 Spring 2003) Greek Week Chair (Fall 2002) Vice President of Program Development (2003) NPC VP of Internal Affairs (2003), director of Chapter Events (2004) Alum Clubs: N/A Why I joined Alpha Phi: My first exposure to Alpha Phi was my mother's best friend's daughter was an Alpha Phi at St. Mary's and we grew up together and she kinda hinted at Alpha Phi when I decided to go to St. Mary's. Love you Melanie!! Next, my student orientation assistant at St. Mary's was an Alpha Phi and she was awesome.. love you Maria!!! (Those two happen to be big and little kinda funny huh?) Then my best friend got in through formal recruitment and she was pretty much my deciding factor to look more into ALPHA PHI and when I did I couldn't of been more excited to join such an amazing group of ladies!! They made me feel so welcome and I'm finally proud to be a part of a group of woman who are actually like sisters.. because we are!!! I am also blessed to have met my two bestest friends in the chapter!! Stefanie is one of my lifelines and I couldn't live without her and the other one is my little who is my soul mate. Roll Call
I recently got turned on to this website through my new job as Coordinator of Greek Affairs at UC Santa Cruz. I thought I would check out my own group and see who's around!
Chapter: Gamma Beta School: UC Santa Barbara Year joined: 1998 Status: Alumnae Current offices (somewhat related): Coor. of Greek Affairs at UCSC, I was also the past President of Gamma Beta 2001-2002. Alum clubs: Monterey Bay Alpha Phi Alumane (just starting out) Why I chose Alpha Phi: The only house during recruitment that I felt good laughing and being myself. The women were so down to earth, and even though I had heard from others they weren't 'top house', they made SUCH an impression on me during Pref. Night that I ditched my Delta Gamma legacy title and went A-Phi! I could not have made a better decision, what Alpha Phi gave to me is something that not only inspired me in my chosen career (Student Affairs), but the best college experience I could have ever hoped for! Love & AOE from the Pacific Coast  , Delia |
Hey! I'm pretty new to GC too...
Chapter: Epsilon Iota School: Duquesne University (Pittsburgh PA) Year Joined: 2001 Status: Active Why I Chose Alpha Phi: I went into rush knowing absolutely NOTHING about Greek life at all. My friends all wanted to check it out so i figured it would be fun. All of the houses were great but I kept feeling like that "click" just wasn't there. In Alpha Phi I felt like I could just be myself and the conversations were so great! I could see myself hanging out with these girls, Living with them, really being sisters. And, of course, pref just made me absolutely certain that I was meant to be an Alpha Phi! :) |
Hey Delia!
Welcome to Greekchat and congratulations on your new position! Long time no chat. If you have any questions feel free to PM me! Laura |
Hey Laura how are you?
I will probably be contacting you sometime soon about the new A-Phi chapter that may be forming at UCSC. Are you still doing work for International? Delia |
Name: Lisa
Chapter: Theta Delta School: Creighton University Year Joined: Spring 2000 Status: Collegiate Offices: Dir. of Administration Why I chose Alpha Phi: Alpha Phi got to me the first time I set foot in the room. Amanda Lorraine Palumbo
Chapter: Theta Rho School: Cameron University Year: Fall '02 Status: Will be Active Collegiate Member in 48 hours :D Why I chose Alpha Phi: I wanted a set of close girls with an amazing bond. People that I could call at 3:30 in the morning cause I was depressed about something, and a group of sisters I could still do that with 25 years from now. P.S. To all the Phi's at St. Mary's: I'm going down there for a speech and debate tournament later this month. I'll post the date when I know it. much love Amanda |

Chapter: Theta Zeta
School: Florida Institute of Technology Year joined: 2000 Status: Collegiate Current offices: Historian, but we're having elections and I'm hoping to become Chaplain! Past offices: Athletics Chair Why I chose Alpha Phi: An older friend of mine came back to our high school and told me about how wonderful her sorority was. I was really surprised, because I had heard all the stereotypes. I had so much respect for my friend that it inspired me to rush when I came to college. I was so torn between the two sororities on campus, but what made up my mind was Pref Night. The ceremony was so moving, and I found women who I wanted to be my role models. It was all I thought about through the Gamma Phi ceremony. Since then, I have discovered that Alpha Phi and I stand for the same things. I think I am extremely lucky to have found an organization that holds the same ideals as I do. |
Chapter: Theta Zeta
School: Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech) Year joined: spring 2001 Status: active collegian Current offices: currently Director of Finance but was just elected as Vice President of Chapter Operations (getting installed this Friday) and currently Director of the Alumane and Homecoming Committee Why I chose Alpha Phi: I chose Alpha Phi not only because one of my closest friends that I met went through formal recruitment and joined Alpha Phi, but also because they are the most amazing girls I have ever met. They are more real and down-to-earth than the other sorority on campus (we have a small Greek system) and they accepted me for who I was and didn't ask anything of me I couldn't do. I joined because of the sisterhood and love that I felt hanging out with Alpha Phi. I'm so glad I made this decision! |
YES!!!!! i finally get to do this
Chapter: Alpha Lambda Chptr & ( Inland Empire Alpha Phi Alumnae Assoc.)
School: I went to The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and Cal State univ San Bernadino(eta beta/ CSU San Bernadino) Year joined: Fall 2002! Status: Alumni Initiate Current offices: None at the present time Why I chose Alpha Phi: I chose Alpha Phi because the instant bond i made with the alumni chapter and my Big Sis'(sponser). I have wanted to be in a sorority forever and i thought i would never find a home like i did with Alpha Phi. That feeling just clicqued once i was with them and knew this was the place to be. They say timing is everything and a reason for everything well i was meant to wait all those yrs out of college to find the perfect home as i did with you all my new found sisters! |
Chapter: Iota Alpha
School: Pepperdine University Year joined: Spring 2002 Status: Active Collegiate Member Current Offices: VP Service- Panhellenic... being transitioned for VP Social Outreach (Rush coordinator)-Panhellenic Alum Clubs: N/A Why I joined Alpha Phi: I was first introduced to Alpha Phi by one of my best friend's mom at home. Then when I got to school and met all of the girls, I knew that A-Phi was where I belonged, and no where else! |
Chapter: Eta Delta
School: California State university Hayward Year joined: Fall 2000 Current status: VERY ACTIVE! Current offices: I was the secretary, but now hopefully I can get Panhell RUSH director Aulm Clubs: N/A Why I chose Alpha Phi: I chose A. Phi because they were/are the nicest most genuine ladies I've ever met. I went through RUSH as a freshman and there are only 2 NPC's at CSUH (A. Phi & Tri-Sigma) I went throught rush and I really connected with the girls, and the girl I most connected with ended up being my big. So, ever since then, I have been having a great time. Plus it helps that almost EVERYWHERE I go I see Alpha Phi's. |
Chapter: Gamma Omega
School: Midwestern State University Year joined: Fall 2001 Current status: ACTIVE! Offices: I just became President. Before that I was Vice President of Program Development and Director of Finance Aulm Clubs: N/A Why I chose Alpha Phi: I wanted to be with a group of women who were not afraid to be themselves at all times. This is why the APhi's at MSU attracted me. I also felt very comfortable with them. With the other sororities, I felt as if I had to put on a show for them so they would like me. Alpha Phi Rocks!!!!!! :D |
Chapter: Alpha Lambda --I'm an alumna initiate.
Year joined: 2003 Status: Alumna Current offices: Chapter Adviser, Chapter Secretary (Alumnae Chapter) Quarterly Correspondent (Alumnae chapter) Alum clubs in past or present:Vancouver Alumnae Chapter Why I chose Alpha Phi: I did my homework and investigated lots of different organizations that have alumnae groups in the Vancouver area, but none of them called out to me like Alpha Phi. The philanthropy, true sense of sisterhood, and focus on women's issues all resonated with me, and from the moment I met my first Alpha Phi, I knew I had to be a part of it! |
cool deal!
So when did this all take place? i am soooo happy to have another alumnae initate as a sister! When is the initation and where? details! details!:):):)
